When moving, there is a lot of planning involved, to make it as stress free as possible. When moving you will have to take special care when packing your electrical items, so as nothing happens to them during transport.

It would be recommended to pack your fragile items first, that way you can move them out of the way while you pack the rest of the house. Use more cushioning than you think you need: bubble wrap and Styrofoam peanuts are both commercially available at shipping-supply stores. Be sure to pack everything in new boxes; old boxes are fine for items such as clothes, but their weakened seams may be a risk when transporting expensive electronics. To help prevent the boxes opening while in the moving process, you will want to put double the tape along the flaps, this will also help to reinforce any weak areas.

If you will be driving your car, it would be best to transport your electronic items yourself, that way you know they are safe. If the outside conditions are temperate, you may place the boxes in your trunk and surround them with cushioning such as towels or clothes. If the temperature outside is hot, it’s safest to put your electronics in the passenger cabin, where there are more options for temperature control. As electronics do better in much lower temperatures, if it is too hot in your vehicle, you risk having components damaged. Cold weather presents less of a danger for electronics and is less likely to damage them.

If you will not be transporting your electrical devices yourself, make sure the moving company knows what boxes they are so they can get special care when moving them. You will want to get insurance information from the company before you entrust them with your most prized possessions . If you have to make a claim, how long does it usually take? Will the entire value of your equipment be coveredWhat is the amount that will be covered in the event that anything is damaged? Heat can damage electronics, you want to make sure they will not be left overnight in a hot truck. Make sure to mark any fragile boxes with a red marker, this is what most interstate moving companies will look for. You will want to put the electronic boxes together and ask that they be loaded onto the truck last. This will make it easy for the movers to remove your items to a cooler location if the journey will take several days.

You may want to send your electronics with a separate company that specializes in the transport of such items. As you collect instant moving quotes, be sure you know exactly what is covered, and get it in writing. Having these items shipped separately , you will have one less thing to worry about. You do not want to ship through the regular mail, you run a higher chance of things getting broken then you would through the moving company.

The keys to successfully moving your delicate and fragile electronics are patience and preparation. If you get in a rush and hurry to get everything done, you are asking for trouble!
