Using the internet to look for people is an interesting way to conduct free people searches. Free people searches can be done from a number of places including sites that act as people locators. There is an alternative way to look for people other than the sites and that is to search for the person from any search engine.

Google is currently rated as the top search engine and most people would rather carry out this search on Google even though it would also work with the other search engines. Googling a person is what the people search that you do has come to be referred to. There are ways of Googling people effectively so that you get results. Below I’ll discuss how to Google people’s names properly.

Depending on the instructions that you give when you’re carrying out a certain search, dissimilarities arise in search results. These instructions are normally encoded in what are called syntaxes. That’s all just terminology and the actual side of it is easy. Let’s look at how to Google people’s name using these syntaxes.

Make sure that when you type in the name you enclose it inside quotation marks as in the following example, “Jim Best”. The syntaxes in this case are the quotation marks and make sure that only Jim Best results are showed not Jim or Best outcome. That is one way of how to Google people’s names.

You can also use the plus (+) or minus/subtract (-) syntaxes. The plus you use to add data that should be incorporated into the search and the minus to for data that should not be a part of the search. For instance “Jim Best” + artist will search for all the documents that have that name and the word artist in them if the person you seek is an artist of the course.

The – (minus) works just the opposite in this method of how to Google people’s names. The minus subtracts all the pages that you do not want to look for. For instance “Kobe Bryant” – basketball will search for Kobe Bryant except for those that mention basketball, because you’re searching for a different Kobe Bryant. These are called wild card searches and you can try them out.
