Tech History: Orignal Xbox
story @ Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Ever wonder what the xbox was originally called? Take a look inside
Did you know that the games console that became the Xbox was at first to be given the title the DirectX-box, to show the considerable use of DirectX in the piece of kit’s technology.
Xbox turned out to be the ultimate title used by Microsoft’s marketing department, but the equipment presently keeps some nods towards DirectX, natably the X-shaped logo, which DirectX is best known for, not to mention the shape of the X at the top of the system.
Despite all of this however, it is eminently possible that the Pentium 3 (x86) processor may have been the inspiration behind it.
