It’s a bit surprisingly that some people don’t know about the product provided by Microsoft called Microsoft Access. Due to this fact some ignorant people instead of using Access databases, which are more convenient, use Excel. The principle in Access is also tables, but they all are saved in a single database. The main thing about Access is that you may overwrite the information, not losing the previous details and records. That’s why I’ve decide to write this article. First of all let’s look at the samples for which hit is better to use MS Access instead of MS Excel. As a matter of fact, users may create queries, forms, tables and reports.

Then they may be connected with each other. First of all it is all variants of contact details list. What is more important, here you may also add some notes, comments, additional information etc. If you are dealing with some kinds of products it would be useful for you to create a kind of list in Access. Here you may store present prices, as well as previous ones, special offers, contracts details, customers’ details etc. If you want to create a database for your personnel – there is nothing better than Access tables. Here you may store current personnel, former one, their addresses and names.

Don’t you know that Excel is created to perform any kinds of calculations? Then why do use it for text? For text, as far as my personal experience may be taken into account, it is better to use Access databases, because of that fact that you may find any previous information, even if you have made any updating. You may also link or import any directly to data which stored in other databases even of other programs. The other thing to be added, that in comparison with Excel, the tables created in Access may be in different shape and color, because of the vide pattern.

Indeed, from the first sight all this structure is seemed to be rather complicated, but after some learning you will operate it quite easily. Actually, you need to study everything carefully – because there are some secrets here. But once you study everything, it will be nothing much easier than this program! The main advantage of MS Access is that you may operate several tables which are linked between each other. This means that the data replication is removed. Believe it would save you a lot of time. Besides, you may easily find and restore records previously made as there is a history of your data.

Hope that this article will be very useful to you and so you wouldn’t be afraid to use MS Access for your needs as it is more convenient than Excel.

There are different programs that can open DB database files. Some of them are Microsoft Access database, Oracle database, Paradox databases and others. Many people wonder what Thumbs.db is and if they can remove it.

Many Windows XP folders display thumbnail images of the folder files as a default. The most common folder that has this option set as default is My Pictures folder. My Pictures folder is mostly used to store pictures; that is why it display files as thumbnails. The same thing concerns digital cameras folders. Using Thumbs.db, Microsoft can cache thumbnail images in the folder. The main purpose of creating thumbnail cache is to speed up thumbnails display the next time the folder is opened by caching a set of thumbnails for video and image files in the folder. If you haven’t seen such files in the folder before, then you probably don’t have the Show hidden files and folders option enabled. If you delete the Thumbs.db file, it will delete the cache, which will be restored the next time you view the files in the folder. There is a possibility to configure Windows to stop caching thumbnails.

Many people are annoyed by the Thumbs.db file. And one of the biggest reasons for being annoyed is that the file changes folder settings. For example, you would like to make all Windows folders to open in List view. And if any of the folders have a Thumbs.db file, that folder will not follow your preferences and just revert to the thumbnail view.

One more disadvantage of the Thumbs.db file is that it occupies the disc space. The space they take up is usually small, but if you have a lot of such files on your hard drive, deleting them could save you a lot of disc space. If you want to delete the Thumbs.db files from your hard drive, you can turn off the option of creating this file following these steps.

You should go to Tools and then Options in My Computer folder and select the View tab. Then click Ok next to the box named Do not cache thumbnails. This way you turned off the thumbnail caching for all windows.

You have to know what kind of files belongs to which application, because many file extensions are utilized by more than one application. For example, if you want to open Thumbs.db file with MS Access database the file will be a mess and you will not be able to read it, or MS Access will not be able to open the file. This happens because, even though, Microsoft Access database is able to open db files, Thumbs.db is not a database file. So, now you know what are db files, how to use them or get rid of them.

Access databases are very useful and important for any personal or business use. But as it is very complex software, it is crucial to know as much tips as possible about its proper utilization. After reading this article you will find out how to hide the objects in the Access database.

Sometimes you don’t want the database users to see the forms, tables or other database objects in the window. You might want this if you have some sensitive data in your Access database. Another reason for hiding some objects is that you don’t want some data to be deleted by anyone. If users are not very familiar with the work of the system, they might unintentionally and inadvertently delete some data. You might have worked on some form or query for a very long time and it would be very disappointing to see that it is gone from your database. The removal of some objects may seriously affect the performance of your database system.

It is possible to prevent that. One of the ways of preventing it is to hide objects in your database. You don’t have to get rid of anything but simply remove it from the view but you can always bring it back any time you want.

If you want to hide the table, you should go to the database window and right click on the table. Then you should select properties. In the new box that will appear after these actions you will go to the Attributes and click on the Hidden button. Your table will not be shown in your database window after you perform this.

Then if you want to get the table back, you should go to the tools menu and select options there. Then go to Hidden Objects and click the OK button. You will see your table appear in the database window but it will be dimmer than the others. If you want to remove the dim, you should right click on the table and select properties. And again you go to the Attributes and uncheck the Hidden option. You will see that your table is shown as before and will not be dimmed.

Following these very simple steps you will be able to hide the Microsoft Access database objects in order to make some of the database information more secure. By using the option of hiding database objects from the view, you will be able to protect your valuable information against other users seeing it, adding some changes to it or even deleting some important objects altogether that can harm the performance of your database and cost you a lot of time. So, don’t take the risk of losing some valuable data and follow these simple steps to protect your database.

They discourage companies from using Access database because of the myths about the software. Surely, Access database is not going to solve all the database needs but it is still a good choice for many businesses.

The first myth about Access database is that it is not a real database. Earlier, you had to be a programmer to use a database application. It wasn’t reachable for an average person to use and understand a complex database language. That is why Microsoft developed software that would be easy to understand for everyone.

Many of the people who developed the Access database were not programmers. That is why many IT people don’t consider it to be serious software, but just a toy and didn’t even use it. But its simplicity and usability is the reason why it is great for many businesses. Many companies have simple database needs that is why they don’t require complex software or pay a big price for hiring the database administrator.

The second myth about the Access database is that it is only good for personal use. This software is great for creating small databases especially with one user. Many consumers use it for many routine tasks like creating a database of a DVD collection and there are many other examples shown in the MS Access database training.

But Microsoft Access is also useful for creating bigger databases. It can be also used on a large network by several users. It is also cheaper than a true enterprise database.

And the third myth about the Access databases is that they get corrupted. But if users and administrators use it properly and follow a few simple rules, then the database corruption is almost impossible. While your MS Access database training, you should get to know the practices and the backups to guarantee the database integrity. You could consult as for the backups with a skilled Access user. But many of the corruption risks happen due to network and server configuration. So, it means that all the IT people who complain about Access corruption are responsible for it.

So, whether you own or work in small or big company or simply an individual who wants to create a database, the Microsoft Access database would be perfect for your needs. It might be a little tricky to master it at first but after a short Access training and learning some information online or from the help feature installed in the database, you will soon get enough skills and knowledge to use the Microsoft Access database effectively.

Access databases contain different objects like tables, forms, queries, macros, reports and codes. In order to create a database you will need at least a table.

Tables hold all information you enter into the database. It serves like data container. Table has columns with different categories like first name, last name, address, city, zip code, etc. every table has a certain amount of rows. You might need more than one table depending on your information requirements. You might have one table with the clients’ information and another one with sales details in an invoicing system. Table is the most important object in your database. It will also have an index that makes search simpler. Tables can be also linked with each other through their key fields. The table can be opened in a datasheet view or design view. Datasheet view lets you enter data into your table and design view is where you can create the table and set up columns, indexes and other things.

Another database object is the form which is the way to present data. User types the information, changes it or removes it. Forms serve as screens for inserting the information and displaying it with the help of tables.

You can ask question and receive answers with the help of queries. Query will find the information according to your questions. Query will create a report or form giving you answers to your questions. You can also edit the data in a query and by that changing the table. There are different queries available and they are a great way to manipulate data.

If we use the form for inputting data, the reports are used for data output. You can base your reports on your queries or tables and send the output to the printer. There is also a possibility of sub reports within a main one.

There is also a macro with is an action or set of actions that fulfill tasks. Access macros are very powerful and allow us to transfer data to a spreadsheet and do the queries.

Using modules you can write your own program code in order to run Access. Macros are good as well but they will not tell you what is necessary to do next and have no error checking option. Everything that could be done in macros is possible to do with the programming code but you will receive more control over system. The only drawback is that it takes time to learn programming and you might not need it for performing easy tasks in simple applications.

Understanding of the Access objects is required for mastering your database. You will definitely make use of forms, tables, reports and queries when you start working with Access database. After awhile you might want to add more objects to your work and more power to your database. That is when you might think of using macros and program code.

The world of computers and computer applications grows all the time. But you can turn this problem into your advantage by catching up with this knowledge and becoming a pro, for example in microsoft access database sphere.
