Thinking about purchasing a new electric car? Even more people are investigating the right way to convert a car to electric.

There are some definite positive factors about driving an electric car. And, in case you research it long enough you will also find some disadvantages. Before you decide one way or another, take into account a few of these issues.

Electric Car Advantages

1) Reduced emissions. Electric cars are “green” and will not pollute the environment. Gas powered vehicles use just about 15% of their fuel to move the car; the rest of the fuel creates heat and polluting gases. An electric car uses nearly 80% of it’s energy to move the car.

Electric cars can be powered by renewable energy such as solar or wind power. Most electric vehicles are recharged by means of power from electric utilities. Power plants typically have well regulated emissions and can be found well away from populated areas.

2) More Affordable Fuel Costs. Compare the cost to drive 100 miles. It may take a couple dollars worth of electricity. Most gas powered cars would require $15 or more for sufficient gas to drive 100 miles. And, while gas prices fluctuate wildly according to international political conditions, electricity prices are fairly steady and normally controlled by state public service commissions.

3) Less Complex Technology. A typical electric motor might have five moving parts. A typical gas powered engine has hundreds of moving parts. Gasoline engines require systems to regulate fuel and air flow to the engine and control exhaust gases. Electric vehicles require a controller to manage power flow to and from the batteries.

4) Reduced Cost of Maintenance. Because the gas powered car has more moving parts, it requires more wide-ranging, thus more expensive, maintenance. After 7 years or so an electric car would require replacement batteries which are costly. Until then, maintenance entails rotating the tires and filling up the windshield washer fluid.

Electric Car Disadvantages

1) Higher Initial Price. At present electric cars are more costly, mainly because of the lithium-ion batteries used in most vehicles. Lithium-ion batteries are used instead of typical lead-acid batteries for their greater storage capacity which provides an increased driving range.

2) Range Restrictions. Our current battery technology can only store enough energy for a vehicle to go 50 to 100 miles before recharging. The range mostly is dependent on the type of battery, car weight, and transmission (manual or automatic). The vast majority of electric vehicles are used for neighborhood driving and are recharged at home. An auxiliary gas powered generator can be used to charge the batteries.

3) Recharging Infrastructure. There are a growing number of recharging stations around, mostly in urban areas. They are by no means as ubiquitous as gas stations. Without an auxiliary generator your driving range often restricts you to neighborhood errands.

4) Battery Replacement Expenses. The cost of batteries may range from several thousand dollars to ten thousand dollars or more based on the type and number of batteries required.

5) Time to Recharge the Batteries. You can fill up a gas powered car in only a couple of minutes. An electric vehicle may take hours to recharge. Charging duration is dependent upon several factors including the kind of batteries, the controller used as well as the current and voltage available. Changing can take as little as 20 minutes or could require 8 hours or more.

Is an electric vehicle in your future? You have now got an idea regarding the major issues involved in making the best decision.

If you’re planning on creating your own computer, I highly recommend you do so. Building your own computer is great because you get to custom select everything you want and you may even end up paying less. On top of this, your new PC will look a lot more stylish. When you look at it, you’ll be proud of it. With all of the great computer towers for sale, it won’t be hard to choose something that looks just the way you want it to.

I should mention however that if your computer isn’t built just right, it will overheat regularly. People that create their own computers make them super strong. This is because a person can make a great computer with the same amount of money they would have spent on something that doesn’t have much power at all.

Sadly, a lot of new computer creators don’t realize that their new and powerful pcs will need cool computer cases to house them. When you create your computer in a cool computer case, it really helps to keep it a good temperature.

The way cool computer cases work is through a system of good air flow. They do this by creating enough space that you’ll be able to move air in and around the inner components of the computer. This is especially important when you build up the areas around the processor.

Cool computer cases will also have great fans inside of them. Many times they will have multiple fans in different areas to make sure everything stays cool all of the time.

While investing in cool computer cases is a great way to keep your computer running smoothly, you should also note that there are other factors that come into play. One factor is how clean the computer is. It is very important to keep your computer clear of dust and debris. Dirt will only create a layer of heat insulation that will lead to an increase in internal heat.

Another thing you can do is to keep things away from the computer that block air vents. Your fan will not be very useful if it doesn’t have a place to push the hot air out of.

The metal or plastic box that holds all the inner components of a pc is officially known as the computer tower. This is also exactly where all the connections such as network interfaces or USB inputs/outputs are located.

There’s a great deal of options as it pertains to computer towers for sale, primarily because of the countless motherboard varieties and cards which can be incorporated. You will find so many unique colors, shapes, and sizes available for sale that practically everyone is able to locate exactly what they are searching for.

Some credit this great variety in computer tower models as a direct consequence of competition from the smaller and more adaptable laptop.

Air flow is really important for a computer tower. With the surge in pc processor strength, comes a rise in the need for cooling systems. An effective fan has to be in place, and the power requirements of the power supply module need to be thought of as well.

The location of drives such as DVD, CD and BluRay is available in common fittings permitting the utilization of various brands together for maximum flexibility.

More complex models include a myriad of performance indicators that is reminiscent of the 2 digit processor speed meter that was seen in the computers of days gone by.

For the truly serious game player or artist, or actually anyone interested in having the ideal pc, the pre-designed packages you can buy don’t always offer exactly the right configuration necessary.

It’s possible to have very good storage but a weak graphics card, or a DVD drive where something else may be required. Due to this fact, many individuals turn to totally customized home made solutions constructed to their specific specifications. A specially designed pc needs to have every one of its components bought independently.

The final product may not have a fancy brand name, but for sure will be faster and more resilient than a manufactured solution that may have been bought over the counter at a computer store.

The web is filled with computer towers for sale for the specialized computer maker. Just make sure you purchase one that is large enough to fit all of the parts you plan on purchasing.

Is it a good suggestion to put money into a Laptop Cooler Pad? Effectively, let us take a look at among the issues that can occur in the event you shouldn’t have a cooling pad.

The very first thing that springs to thoughts is protecting the computer arduous drive. Arduous drive failure might be one of many largest fears for a lot of regular computer users. This tiny little box saved away in the laptop computer holds all your data, pictures, movies and vital configurations. If the field fails, then you may just about say farewell to all that stored data, (unless you backed it up of course).

One of the essential reasons for hard drive crashes is in truth overheating. All kinds of valuable private or enterprise data might be lost if your pc overheats and crashes. Trying to maintain your laptop computer at a fair temperature may be fairly difficult with simply the one in-built inside fan. That is particularly so should you use a variety of design or modifying software.

Often placed at the back of the computer the processor is another unit that needs to be kept cool at all times. That is the heart of your best notebook cooler, if this shuts down it is recreation over. Fashionable laptops run fast microprocessors that may generate a lot of heat. With out the required cooling system or dangerous air flow the effectiveness can be diminished considerably. A hot laptop can endure from reliability issues and a system that overheats can fail.

Now, if you are someone who usually works off of your lap then take notice of this next bit. Laptop computer warmth could cause pores and skin burns. Sure, you read it right, precise burning of the skin. Let’s face it, if you have a laptop computer sitting directly on your lap and working continuously the place is all the heat going to go?? As it’s instantly in your lap you can probably assume that any air vents reduce into the laptop unit will almost definitely be blocked by your thighs. The warmth will come straight out of these vents and blow directly onto your legs. Think about in case you were wearing shorts!!

Lastly, and this one is for all you males on the market, laptop computer warmth can cut back fertility. Not something you wish to examine however it is a known proven fact that too much warmth in a man’s nether areas can create problems afterward if having youngsters is a part of his future plan. If you’re one among these guys and don’t have any choice but to work a laptop off your lap then I would strongly counsel getting a laptop cooler pad ASAP!

So now we all know what sort of harm an overheating laptop computer may cause now we will take a look at the best way to decide whether your laptop computer is too hot.

What Are The Signs Of Overheating?

1. In case you are working away at your computer and immediately the thing, with out motive, shuts down then there’s a high likelihood that the fail secure software program in your laptop has shut all the pieces down due to the temperature getting too high.
2. When you find that your laptop computer/pocket book inner fan is constantly working at full speed then likelihood is that overheating is the cause.
3. In case your laptop routinely shuts down instantly after you may have turned on a piece of software program that requires lots of work from the processor.
4. In case your display screen freezes and the notorious “blue display screen of dying” appears.

Hopefully the question of whether or not you should put money into a laptop computer cooler pad has been answered. I personally assume that if I did not use a cooler pad my laptop would have been trashed a very long time ago.

Radiators essentially function by circulating incoming hot liquids (or in the case of vehicles, coolants) and releasing their heat through aluminum fins so that the liquid/coolant is at the correct temperature. In automobiles, coolant reaches the correct temperature and is then suitable for recycling through the engine block and back into the radiator. If coolant gets too hot and expands too much, it causes the radiator to boil over.

Radiators are structured with aluminum tubes that connect to the fins. This structure drains the heat of the coolant into open air flow. There are several smaller components attached to radiators that may fail and cause problems with normal radiator function. Radiators are fairly simple to diagnose as symptoms are very noticeable in most instances. For example, if your car tends to overheat when you are idling, the probable suspect is head gasket failure. This problem causes air to flow into the water jacket of the engine throwing off the circulation of coolant through the radiator. This specific issue is to blame whenever air bubbles are fond in the coolant or foam is inside the expansion reservoir.

The seals on the radiator cap can allow excess air into the system when they become damaged. This negatively affects the very sensitive internal pressure systems of the radiator. The radiator is not able to cool the engine block down effectively when the pressure levels aren’t normal. Once the control over the flow of air is lost, corrosion as a result of pollutants in the air and uncontrolled coolant expansion often induce boiling over in the radiator.

Automotive radiators have fans that are designed to keep the engine block cool when your car isn’t moving. When you are driving through the desert in the summer and you get caught behind an accident, forcing you to come to a standstill in traffic, this fan becomes an important ally. One the common problems that affect the radiator fan is corroded wiring that links the fan and the radiator.

Consider quality when purchasing new coolant for your radiator. The use of silicate-based coolants may significantly affect the amount of build-up you get in your radiator over time. This build-up can eventually clog your upper and lower radiator hoses causing the coolant to back up or leak. Is just as crucial to watch coolant levels. When you consistently see low coolant levels, check the head gasket and radiator cap for damage.

You have a closet full of beautiful ballroom dresses and you want to keep them looking that way. Making sure that they stay clean and fresh does take some planning. Whenever you wear any ballroom dancing dress, it will surely require extra special effort to remove any odors and restore it to its former pristine condition.

There are a couple of points to take into account when you are thinking about how best to stow your ballroom dresses . For starters, you want to make sure that the color remains as true to the original as you can. Sunlight is the foe here. The most effective thing to do is to find a dark-colored plastic cover which will safeguard the dress from fading. If you hang up the dress in its cover somewhere that has plenty of space around it, this will help to prevent creasing of the garment. Something else to look out for is mildew. This could develop on your dresses and wreck them if they are stored in a damp spot. Thus, a dry location is best and also open the cover to allow some fresh air flow.

Moving on from how to store our ballroom dance dresses, let’s now take a look at the best way to care for them in terms of keeping them clean and well-presented. The care instructions supplied by the manufacturer or your dress-maker are an excellent place to start.

The chances are that if it’s practice dancewear with no embellishments or trimmings, then it might be machine-washable and almost certainly hand-washable. In either event, wash in cold water with a mild detergent. For competition dancing clothes, again if they are not finished with decorations such as stones and beads, you can try hand or a very cool machine wash – no more than 30 degrees Centigrade – to avoid shrinkage. Generally-speaking, it’s all right to machine-wash fabrics such as georgette and Lycra, commonly used in ballroom dance dresses.

If there is heavy staining, then consider using a pre-wash stain remover treatment also. You have to be specifically careful if the dress has dark-colored satin bias binding because this can mark the material. So you have to be painstaking in making certain that the binding and the material do not touch each other while still damp. This may well sound like overkill, but you will be happy you did it.

Now if your ballroom dresses are decorated, then you should never wash or even dry clean them. The danger is that any stones will be scratched and lose their sparkle. What is more, it’s also possible for the glue to break down. You could, obviously, spot clean with a brush.

Ballroom dresses can be refreshed by placing them in a steamy environment. This will additionally help to even out creases. If a dress requires more than a steam, you could cautiously hand-wash the body suit only with the dress turned inside out. Be sure to use a gentle soap and cold water. Rinse in cold water and do not wring the dress out prior to hanging it up to dry. If you have had to wash your ballroom dress, allow it to drip dry over the bath tub. If the dress is extremely weighty when wet, it might be a good plan to place it across a clothes horse. This will help to avoid the fabric from stretching. This would be permanent. Keep in mind that fringe dresses can take three to four days to dry properly! So you should not leave it till the last minute to wash it, if you need it for a particular event.

Now let’s examine the tricky subject of ironing. If you can avoid it, then you should do so. Again, pay close attention to the maker’s instructions. Synthetic fabrics are notorious for burning easily, so use a very cool temperature.

Hopefully, you have found this advice helpful. With a little thought about storage, cleaning and ironing your ballroom dresses , you will find that they keep their initial beauty much longer and no matter how much you invested in them, it will have been money well spent.

Among the best types of protection for motorcycle riders, especially when they are in an accident, are motorcycle helmets. This important bit of motorcycle gear protects probably the most vulnerable section of the body which is actually made to break in the event of an accident. It is done like this as a way of expending any energy that could have otherwise impacted the skull directly. When a helmet has been in an accident or dropped more than once it may not show outward physical signs of being damaged but it may still be damaged, therefore it is a good idea to exchange a helmet every few years, even if there has been no impact to it.

Not only are the helmets designed to protect the head, they’re also made to protect your eyes from wind and debris that has the possibility to impair vision, thereby causing an accident. A motorcycle helmet may seem a little uncomfortable in the beginning if you are not familiar with wearing one, but they do have air flow; it just takes a bit of getting used to. A lot of people complain that their head gets really warm when wearing one but that is a small price to pay for how much protection they provide.

It is vital for a helmet to fit correctly as the better the fit, the more protection for the rider. Purchasing a custom motorcycle helmet is a good idea if your budget can handle the expense. While motorcycle helmets cannot completely guarantee that you will not be injured in an accident, they have been proven to lessen the intensity of injuries that do happen, in addition to decreasing the number of fatalities.

To figure out the right fit for your motorcycle helmet, it should be resting firmly on your forehead. It should be tight enough that you’ll not be ready to wedge your thumb between the helmet and your forehead. When you have made the correct fit, adjust and fasten the chin-strap. Don’t permit it to check your neck. When you have the helmet fastened, give your head a little shake to be sure the helmet doesn’t shift pointlessly or fall off your head. Once doing that, try getting on your motorcycle in your normal riding position.

Helmets, like other components of motorcycle apparel, such as motorcycle jackets and motorcycle boots for example, are manufactured for safety and comfort; the helmet that a majority of riders prefer is made from a carbon fiber. You may also choose the type of chin strap that best fits you; quite a few choose what they call fast hooks which enable the fastening and unfastening of the helmet super easy and fast.

Much like all motorcycle gear, motorcycle helmets are available in a number of different styles, with the three most typical being flip up, open face and full face. The one that offers the most protection both in the event of an accident and from flying debris is the full face design. They also come with different options, like tinted, clear or reduced glare interchangeable visors. Some riders prefer an open face type helmet as it may provide greater visibility; however, it does not offer the level of protection that the full face helmet does.

I was just reminded by a spring cleaning article that it’s been quite a while since I checked under the hood of my PC. Enthusiasts know and love the process of getting air-flow-reducing dust bunnies out of their cases, but a lot of people out there (and perhaps some readers) may have never even tried it. It’s actually quite easy and you should give it a shot — I put together a video this afternoon just to show the basics.

It’s a bit long because I didn’t want to cut anything out — I wanted it to be clear that this whole process really only does take less than ten minutes and anyone can do it. All you need is a can of compressed air, which should be available at your local hardware store.

If you’re interested in getting a little more grungy, you can unplug everything, take out the hard drives and PCI cards, and give them a good going-over. A little oil on the bearings of your fans will also make everything run a little quieter. But the main thing is to just get the accumulation of dust and fuzz out of there.

I know, I know, it’s all pretty obvious to most of our readers, but hopefully it’ll make things a little easier for some.

Update: Commenters are noting various extra things to do or not do below – go check ‘em out. My video is just a very basic look, so if you’re interested in doing a little more for your poor neglected PC, fire up the old Googletron and look around.
