Mad Catz/Tritton’s Primer gaming headset arriving this week, we go ears-on

Posted by on Wednesday, 11 January, 2012

With these gamer cans ready to bask in their full Xbox-certified glory in stores this week, we took the chance to hit up Tritton’s stand here at CES to try on its Primer. Despite the call-center employee appearance [above], the earphones are relatively comfortable, although the head band seemed a bit tight. While the Primer offers a 33 foot reception radius, we found its limits of receiving audio were closer to 40 feet. The mic arm is flexible, with the adjustable headband affording a certain degree of customization. Despite the 0 price tag, Tritton fans looking for something more subtle than recent efforts will be happy — just don’t walk around a conference hall kitted out in it.

Nov. 29, 1972: Pong, a Game Any Drunk Can Play

If fire was the beginning of civilization, was the appearance of Pong the beginning of the videogame age? A case can be made.

Tiny Tower breaks ground on Android

Posted by on Sunday, 20 November, 2011

Android takes another step closer to iOS’s arguably superior gaming offering, adopting cult low-fi sim Tiny Tower. Froyo is the minimum requirement for the game run, but given the very dominant status of Android 2.0 and up, most won’t find it an issue. This management sim lets you create a mix of businesses and attractions to draw Bitizens (the pixelated chaps you see above) to come live, work and play in your property. There looks to be some kind of smartphone game exchange going on, with this not-so-tiny timesink transfer following the recent appearance of Minecraft on iOS. Those willing to write off the rest of the weekend can download it now at the source below.

Lumia 710 makes an appearance on Nokia’s US site without its Windows Phone counterpart

Posted by on Thursday, 27 October, 2011

When Nokia made it known that the Meego-running N9 wouldn’t be making any official tour to the US, the sound of crushed dreams could be faintly heard in households across the nation. Would the newly-announced Lumia series suffer the same fate somehow? Might Uncle Sam’s invitation to the family BBQ get lost in the mail a second straight time? Thanks to Nokia’s US website, we know that at least one of the two Windows Phones will leave Espoo and land somewhere between sea and shining sea, as the budget-conscious Lumia 710 appears front and center on the OEM’s home page while the 800 is nowhere to be found. We’re not giving up just yet — if absence makes the heart grow fonder, we don’t want to get enamored with the AWOL phone this fast.

Apple expands patent complaint against Samsung to include more devices

Posted by on Friday, 17 June, 2011

Keeping track of all accusations flying back and forth in the ongoing patent brouhaha between Apple and Samsung? Then we’re afraid you’ll have to update your scorecards again, as Apple has now amended its complaint with some even stronger language than before, and broadened the scope of the devices involved in the suit. According to Apple, the Droid Charge, Infuse 4G, Nexus S 4G, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy S II and a handful of other Samsung devices are all also infringing on the patents in question, which now total eight in all (two previously included have been thrown out, but three new ones have been added). As for that stronger language, Apple’s now saying that Samsung “has been even bolder” than other competitors in copying its products, and that it’s created “products that blatantly imitate the appearance of Apple’s products to capitalize on Apple’s success.” Hit the source link below for FOSS Patents’ complete breakdown of the amendment.

[Thanks, Fayez]

Rims For Sale – Things Consumers Have To Consider Before Purchasing

Posted by on Tuesday, 10 May, 2011

The first thing individuals notice on a person are the shoes. The first thing a person notices on a motor vehicle are the rims. No matter if the car is an old beater or even a new car off the showroom floor, rims will make a difference.

When searching for rims, lots of individuals focus on price only when looking at rims for sale. In addition to price, you should consider the quality of the material, an alloy, steel, or even aluminum rim, if the rim is chrome or even painted, the size of the rim and the “lip”, or even deepness of the rim itself.

Finding a cheap price on 22 inch (or higher) rims is relatively simple. Finding good quality 22 inch rims for sale is often a problem. Also rims that would be great over one vehicle might not be appropriate over yet another. Aluminum rims on a truck used for off-road conditions are surely going to cause problems.

There is nothing worse than bending and damaging a new pair of rims. An additional factor to think about when acquiring rims is the finish. Chrome is usually the best choice, but depending on the utilization of the vehicle and the vehicle colour, painted rims may be a better choice.

Since the market for painted rims is not as large as the market for chrome, you may be in the position to find painted cheap rims for sale in a coordinating colour to your vehicle. Also, many styles could very easily be painted, thus even an off-colored rim may even so be a good value. An additional factor to consider when looking at rims for sale is the lip of the rim.

For several coupes and sports cars, you will require a bigger lip to fit the larger tires for those vehicles. On the other hand, if you have a small sedan, a larger lip may look strange or even peculiar. Usually, trucks and sports cars could handle a larger lip and may improve the general appearance of the car.

Keep in mind that you may need special performance low profile tires that might equal or even surpass the cost of the rim. It is not unusual for some tires to cost in the hundreds of dollars. Thus although you were in a position to find cheap rims for sale, you should still factor in the cost of the tires as well.
