Digital Cameras Under $50

Posted by on Tuesday, 2 March, 2010

Before you buy a digital camera, if you are not willing to spend a lot of money for it, you must first establish just what you will be using that camera for. If you want a powerful digital camera, which takes the best pictures in the world, it will cost you a huge amount of money, but if you want a casual digital camera, we will recommend some digital cameras under $50.With these digital cameras, even if they don’t have a lot of high-end features, you will be able to take satisfactory pictures every time.

A model of digital cameras under $50 is the Argus QuickClix 3185. This camera, with 3.2 Megapixels resolution, is capable of taking photos at a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. It can also record clips in AVI format but a negative aspect is that it can’t record sounds. On the back, it has a 1.1 inch LCD display which allows you to see your photos, even movies, instantly. Powered by three AAA batteries, this camera is designed only for taking photos for internet or emails. Anyway, with a price of $49, the Argus QuickClix 3185 has enough technology which makes it a reasonable digital camera. For only $39, you can have another digital camera made by the Argus manufacturer. The Argus QC 2185 is almost similar with the Argus QuickClix 3185. This camera has only 2 Megapixels resolution, an integrated flash and a 1.1 inch LCD display.  It can take clear and great quality pictures, enough to meet your needs. Like the Argus QuickClix 3185, this digital camera runs with three AAA batteries and has a USB port for connecting it to a PC.

If you are passionate by photography and making sports, you probably need an Innovative Outdoor Sports Mini Digital Camera.  This digital camera is so small so you can attach it even on your chain or at your keys as a keychain.  For $49 you can buy this Innovative Digital camera which can be used to take photos, record short clips or even as a Webcam. It has a viewfinder, an integrated flash and 16 MB of free space. A negative aspect is that it lacks a LCD display, but being so small, you probably don’t need one.

Another ingenious digital camera is the Intova 1.3 MP Snap Sights. If you are passionate about underwater trips, this digital camera is just what you need. With this 1.3 Megapixel camera you can take photos or even record some short clips without worrying about it getting wet. Because you will not be able to take great quality photos, this digital camera is designed especially for teenagers going on a trip. Because it costs $39 you don’t have to worry if you lose it as you are not exactly spending a fortune on it.

Anyway, I’m not encouraging people to buy poor-quality products, but if you are planning to go on a vacation and don’t have a digital camera, these digital cameras under $50 are very useful. Even if you are not able to take the best pictures in the world, you can keep track of memories and places visited with pictures of good quality and reasonable resolution.

Thanko’s Motion Sensor Spy Pen records video

Posted by on Wednesday, 3 February, 2010

For some reason, Tokyo-based USB accessory maker Thanko has rolled out a slew of spy gadgets in the past weeks and months. About four weeks ago, Thanko gave us a spy pen that shoots video in HD, and today we are getting the Motion Sensor Spy Pen [JP]. The device looks like a regular ballpen, but it detects people moving in its vicinity and starts recording them on video automatically.

Unfortunately Thanko doesn’t specify the range of the motion sensor but says the pen stops recording automatically once it stops detecting movement for 10 seconds. The pen shoots video in AVI format and 736×480 resolution at 30fps. Alternatively, it can take pictures (JPEGs) in 1,280×960.

The pen weighs 30g, has 4GB of internal memory and a battery life of about 70 minutes. Needless to say, you can transfer your video or photo files to your computer via USB (Windows XP / Vista / 7 and Mac OS are supported).

Thanko is already selling the Motion Sensor Spy Pen on its Japanese website (price: $70). Ask Thanko partner and import/export specialist Geek Stuff 4 U if they can get one and ship it outside Japan if you’re interested.

Here’s a sample video (taken with the spy pen):

OTAS says the internal memory is enough to store up to 10,000 songs. You can shoot pictures (in JPEG format) in 1,280×1,024 and videos (in AVI format) in 640×480 resolution and at 12fps. The sunglasses weigh 52 grams and support Windows XP/Vista/7.

You can get them over at import specialist Geek Stuff 4 U for $220.78 plus shipping.

And now to finally get to the bottom of WHO DRANK MY LAST TAB?! This unassuming little clock tells the time and tells you who’s been breaking into your house at night to eat multiple peanut butter, lettuce, and pastrami sandwiches. It’s definitely not you sleepwalking.

The Tiny Spy Camcorder Clock from Brando sells for $47 and features 4GB of storage. Video is recorded in AVI format at 640×480 pixels, 30 frames per second (audio is recorded too) and you’ll use up about 0.8GB per hour of recorded footage. Don’t worry that you’ll run out of space, though, as the battery only lasts two hours.

If there’s something in your genes that makes you wonder whether your father is really your father and you think that you’re actually the son of James Bond, then you are one of those who are always tempted to imagine all sorts of awkward situations, all of them being near to impossible.

So, if you think that the sunglasses that come with MP3 player aren’t what a spy would need, then take into consideration the Spycam Video Sunglasses, offered by ThinkGeek, which will most certainly complete your arsenal.

Usually, spies and detectives appeal to sunglasses because they’re trying to hide their identity or because they don’t want to be noticed by people around them. But these sunglasses have another purpose.

“The Spycam Video Sunglasses are not intended to be part of any disguise – they are the disguise – concealing a tiny video camera in the center of the glasses. Capable of capturing excellent quality video and audio, these Spycam Video Sunglasses can be comfortably worn nearly everywhere to help you get the footage. Video is stored in AVI format on a Micro SD card. These glasses also feature easy-to-use controls which are located on the glasses frame.”

These funky sunglasses run on an integrated rechargeable battery that has a life of approximately 3-4 hours and can be connected via USB.

The glasses are available at ThinkGeek for $149.99.
