Choosing A Career As A Graphic Designer

Posted by on Saturday, 15 May, 2010

A graphic designer is a man or woman who uses a variety of computer software and art supplies to design and develop visual materials that convey a certain message. They make use of several different tools like photographs, illustrations, colors, animation, fonts, and numerous layouts to get information across to the desired audience in the easiest and quickest way available.Graphic designers produce the overall production and layout designs of newspapers, journals, magazines, company reports, and various additional publications.

In addition, graphic artists use their skills to create advertisements, package designs, and sales brochures for anything that is for sale. They also develop unique logos for companies or products, create posters, websites, interactive media, and multimedia schemes. In order to illustrate what they have in mind for a design, graphic designers make sketches or layouts. The graphic designers pick out the animation, audio, visuals, colors, photography and additional graphic aspects used in a design. You may be looking for design competitions information, in which case you should visit that site.

They also will determine the size and final arrangements of all the elements that are being included in the layout. They will construct charts and graphs from data gathered to include in publications and collaborate with copywriters on the text which is to supplement the visual portions of the design. The pinnacle of the career of the graphic designer is to take a job with potential but no resources to the achievement of its full potential.

On the job training in graphic design can be very valuable, but several internships or earning a degree in design at a school which concentrates in this area is even more worthwhile.Despite the fact that entry level technical openings exist for which you generally only need an associates’ degree, typically a bachelors’ degree is necessary for most advanced graphic design and even entry level positions. There are private design schools as well as colleges and universities which offer degrees in the field of Fine Arts.

This prospectus consists of computerized design, design principles, printing methods, commercial graphics assembly and liberal arts classes in marketing, business and writing that enable designers to produce content more proficiently. It is also possible to earn an associates degree and certification in graphic arts from a two and three year technical school program. Such programs concentrate on technical facets of graphic design and involve only a couple of liberal arts classes.Contact this website if you require information on design contest.

A solid portfolio of work including examples of the best work of the designer is generally the determining factor when competition for a job is intense.Mostly, a job in graphic design requires someone to be able to work on their own and under tight deadlines, and also have superior communication and resolution skills. Also needed is a working knowledge of various computer graphic and design software.

The recruitment of graphic designers is projected to increase on the average level as other vocations up until 2014, since the demand for graphic design artists continually rises with publishers, promoters and computer design firms. However, competition for available jobs will be intense as many talented people are drawn to careers in graphic design.People possessing a bachelors’ degree and know how concerning computer design programs, especially those who have animation and web page design experience, will have the greatest chances.Additionally, the need for graphic designers is expected to rise because of the precipitously developing video entertainment niche, which denotes film, video, made-for-Internet outlets and television.

Have a college degree, 250 Twitter followers and a blog? Then you can be a senior manager at Best Buy!

Well, could have been a senior manager—the job seems to have already been filled. Still, let’s talk about it. Best Buy recently posted a job ad on its Web site looking for someone who would be “he primary lead for the Best Buy’s mobile, social, and video marketing and media efforts to drive in-store and online sales, create sustainable word-of-mouth evangelists, and brand loyalists.” Yup, that’s what a senior manager of emerging media does. No soul required, it seems.

You know a job is suspect when the entire Crunch Family (CrunchGear, MobileCrunch, TechCrunch, CrunchCrunch, etc.) qualifies, no questions asked. Here’s what Best Buy was looking for:

• Bachelors degree Liberal Arts, Marketing, Interactive Marketing, New Media, Business Administration or related

• 2 plus years of mobile or social media marketing experience at an Agency director level, strategist level, or brand interactive director level

• 4 plus years People or resource leadership experience

• 1 plus years of active blogging experience

250 plus followers on Twitter

A graduate degree is “preferred,” but who needs an education when you have Twitter followers? (Am I right?!)

Too bad the position was already filled. Not that Best Buy would have hired me, given my opinion of it.

US stack ‘em high, sell e’m cheap tech mega store Best Buy recently put out a job ad with a difference. Applicants for the role of “senior manager – emerging media marketing” were required to have two years plus of mobile media experience, one year plus of blogging experience, a bachelors degree and 250 Twitter followers. Before you start applying – popular web 2.0 people that you are – the position has already been filled, but it’s certainly a very interesting ask in this day and age. For a senior social media manager, I’d say it was probably a far enough demonstration of an experience and understanding of the most important social app of the moment. Besides, the head honcho of Best Buy, Brian Dunn, has 1,679 followers himself. Even if you’re not in marketing – if, perhaps, a journalist – then one might consider it equally important. It’s rather like a contacts list. Essentially, how many eyes can you attract to whatever it is that you do. How many people can you draw to the work that your company does? So, is this something that we’re going to start putting on our CVs? Is that how people should be viewing Twitter? What do you reckon? Let me know in the comments below. You can also boast about how many followers you do/do not have. (via Brand Republic)

Are You in a Hurry? Get Fast College Degrees Online

Posted by on Wednesday, 8 July, 2009

Today you are able to get an Engineering Masters Degree entirely online.  The programs usually are completely based on course work.  There are many people that hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering and would like to get more knowledge at a graduate level and in many cases go on to get their Master’s degree.  Before there were online universities some people didn’t have the opportunity to go to school due to their responsibilities to a job or to their family.

Many people are very impatient and want fast college degrees without all of the work.  There are websites online that will offer you a college diploma in as fast as 7 days.  Somehow this is legal but not very ethical.  They will even offer to get you transcripts of your choice with a GPA that you choose.  Now think of this scenario.  You want to advance in your career right now.  You go online and order one of these college degrees and show your employer and you get that wonderful promotion that you have wanted.  Somehow your employer finds out about your phony diploma and fires you on the spot for deceiving him but you have scaled your lifestyle to the new salary and you have debt that has to be paid.  How do you pay it?  You probably will not get a job with the earning power that you had and you find yourself in a financial crisis.  It pays to be honest and come by achievements the proper way.  You can hold your head up and know that you have the knowledge that is required to do the job at hand.

Find online college by doing your homework.  Research the universities and colleges online that offer the programs with the majors that you require.  Make a list of pros and cons of each college and include costs, fees, courses, requirements and ease of the websites.  You will want to make sure that the university or college that you choose is fully accredited and has a reputation that is solid.  If you do your research properly you will be able to find a college that meets your needs, at a price that will fit your budget.  With online colleges students can dedicated their college time to learning and making the most of their academic career. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by, get the process started now and start earning your degree!
