Up top, you’ll find a 30-pin connection base for your iPhone or iPod, and there’s also a 3.5mm jack around back to play nice with other PMPs. Notably, the speaker’s metal carry handle and grill should keep it ready for a mild amount of city-slicking abuse — and in a choice of blue, white, green or black, we’d imagine it’ll look extra fresh doing so. Monsoon Multimedia is pushing its Vulkano line of set-top boxes to the forefront once again by offering a feature not found on competition from Sling, TiVo or Roku, by adding the ability to make DVR recordings directly to iPad, iPhone or Android devices. While users can still watch TV from anywhere in the world using the Vulkano, the new DVR-to-mobile feature is restricted to WiFi and will only work with the new Blast model. Sure you could store your shows on its internal 160GB hard drive, but this way fans of The Killing on AMC can be disappointed by the season finale later on even while offline. Updates for the platform-appropriate apps should arrive shortly, while Blackberry users are assured the feature is on the way soon for them too.

Yesterday afternoon, a blast occurred at Intel’s Arizona plant just outside Phoenix, injuring seven people with one suffering from severe burns. According to Phoenix Business Journal, the incident took place in a solvent waste treatment room at Fab 22 — not far from Fab 32 which will be manufacturing 22nm chips — but Intel Vice President Josh Walden assured us that “there was no damage or release of chemicals to the community,” and production has already resumed in both facilities. The company is currently looking into the possible causes of this accident — you’ll know it when we have an update, and we wish the victims a quick recovery.
