Of all of the activities that an RC vehicle buff gets to indulge in, RC vehicle racing has to get top billing. To look at any RC vehicle racing buff, it doesn’t normally matter who they get to race against – it could be a next-door neighbor or at a competitive event – the type of high they get from it is apparent. Of course, as important as participating is to any RC vehicle racing aficionados, it is not solely about how well they play. The excitement lies in the winning. And there are a few things that any committed racing buff can prepare for to make the very best of an event.
There are several racer controlled components to a vehicle that can affect the result of an event like the tires can. Tires need to be picked out with judgement. Just like with the history of used cars you are thinking of purchasing, the tire history tells the story of wear and tear. Just like you wish to make sure that those used cars have had the correct tires, make sure of that here. How much more vital would tire tread be with race automobiles than with used cars? A lot more vital.
They need to be matched to the surface that the race will happen on. If at all possible, you need to be able to look at the type of tires that come recommended for the type of surface the race will take place on. If you could take a look at the type of options that the other racers at an event are making, all of the better.
It is easy to get swayed into trying out some newfangled tire/insert combo available for purchase for a race. A competitive event is not the time to try out something new. That can wait for when you are practicing at home. You need to be able to concentrate on just the combinations that you are comfortable with, having raced with them in the past. Usually a race on blacktop is done on foam tires, purple seems to go quite well with it. On carpeting, with foam tires, black in the front and purple on the back can be particularly effectual.
Psyching yourself up for an RC vehicle race event can be really important. Showing up early for an event for instance goes very far in showing your fellow competitors how seriously you take a race. That display of committment can be hard for your competitors to recoup from. You can show your strategy off by indulging in some warm-up games to kill time, and tie up loose ends before you get ready for the main event. Since each event takes place on a fresh surface, you need to be able to practice on the surface the event will happen on before you race for real. Show up early enough to help set up the turf so that you can get to practice on it the longest. You will be glad for the added practice.
