convert WMV to MP4

Growing The Speed On Your Low cost Desktop Computer

Okay, so you went out and acquired an inexpensive desktop laptop and you find it just isn’t up to speed, literally. There’s nothing incorrect with that. It’s a fixable situation. I am going to let you know the way to treatment that situation. There’s a way and it really works for affordable laptop computers also.

First a quick lesson in computers. Think about the next:

The Processor is your motor. It determines how briskly you possibly can go from 0 to 60mph.

The arduous drive is is your file cupboard . The larger your file cabinet is, the extra stuff you can maintain until you want it.

Memory or RAM is your workbench. The bigger your workbench the more things you can do at one time.

Now, lets speed this outdated low-cost desktop pc up just a little bit. Unless you built it your self, your system got here with a variety of momentary applications. (Short-term, as a result of they are teasers and hope you’ll purchase the total version.) In addition they come with a great many purposes you probably won’t ever need. The key here is to do one thing about them. Let’s get started.

Click on Begin; then click on Run and kind in “MSCONFIG” and click Okay. A window will open with several tabs across the top. Click on the Software tab. You will see a lot of information with little examine bins on the left. Programmers are egotistical. They suppose any software they write must be loaded any time you boot your system. Out of all of those checked, the one ones you really need are: SYSTRAY and Windows Explorer

If they don’t seem to be there, don’t fret about it. Some variations of Home windows do not show them. The other thing you want is a virus checker. You probably did set up one didn’t you? Your system probably came with one but it is going to be a temporary version. Be sure you’ve gotten a virus checker and keep it up to date

Take the checks out of all the containers at the left by clicking on them. Click on Apply and OK.

The panel will tell you your system must be rebooted in order for the changes to take effect. Do that. When the reboot is accomplished, an data panel will open telling you some configuration adjustments have been made. Well, Duhhh, you simply made them. Put a verify mark on the tiny sq. on the left and tell the system to not reboot at this time. Congratulations! You’ve simply increased the velocity of your desktop laptop!

If you feel a real want for velocity, the one most essential thing you are able to do, and the most affordable, by the way, is to extend your memory. By that I mean make your workbench bigger. An actual clue that you want more reminiscence is to hearken to your system as you’re doing things. Do you hear numerous clicking? That is the hard drive at work. If you don’t have enough memory, your system will still try to do what you instructed it however with the intention to make room, it has to clear some house on the workbench, in memory. To do this, it moves issues in and out of reminiscence to the hard drive. This takes up laptop cycles which equate to time. What it is advisable to do is improve the amount of memory. I’d suggest you’ve gotten at least 2gb in the event you do something more than homework and browsing the internet. It isn’t expensive. Nonetheless, it have to be added in matched pairs. In other words, if you wish to add 2gb, then you definitely buy 2 1gb modules. Installation is easy, however if you’re leery about cracking the case, a Best Purchase, Circuit Metropolis, or a Mom and Pop repair shop will do it for about $27.

Growing your memory can increase the pace by as much as 40%. Consider me, it’s value it, especially in case you do something with photos or video, or audio. You possibly can take that low cost desktop computer of yours and make it right into a workhorse.

G0 ahead and get to it. If you have any questions, put up them in The Geek’s Pc Weblog and I will answer them at my first opportunity.

My title is Rick. I am seventy four years of age and have labored in computer systems since 1957. I turned hooked on what you are able to do with a very good pc and camcorder a few years ago. I’ve purchased many of the video enhancing software accessible together with three chromakey programs. I am an Adobe Community expert and have the entire Adobe software. I also have particular results software that permits you to create special effects in your video throughout the enhancing process. I additionally use animation software. It’s best to hear my poodles talk!

There is a seemingly endless stream of food/restaurant rating/check-in apps popping up all the time. All of them aim to help you find good food, and many of them do it very well. Nosh is among the newer faces in the pack. The app wants to help people find the best thing to order, and eventually aims to use the feedback it gathers to help restaurants. It launched just three months ago from Firespotter Labs, whose CEO Craig Walker was one of the founders of Google Voice. The app now has 1 million ratings of dishes, and on Tuesday the company announced a series of updates, including the integration of Google Places.

Some of the other changes in version 2.0 of Nosh include:

They finally snagged Nosh.com. Yes, when they launched the best they could do was Nosh.me.

Besides an iOS and Android app, there’s now an interactive web interface for Nosh.

Nosh is now international, going outside the U.S. for the first stime.

But the one that most impacts how people use the product is this: Integration with Google Places. Places is Google’s Yelp competitor, and clearly Nosh is competing with Yelp too, so that makes this Google marriage very convenient. Places integration means every restaurant, bar, bakery, brasserie, bistro and diner Google knows about is built into Nosh’s database of dining establishments. And that’s very helpful for what Nosh is trying to do, which is have millions of places and their full menus available in its database. With the help of Google, for any place a Nosh user could ever want to walk into, they can instantly see what’s available to order, what is recommended as the best thing to eat, and naturally, what to avoid based on low user ratings.

Another cool thing Nosh is trying has to do has to do with ratings. Recognizing that users can rate a lot of dishes a “5-star” (the highest rating), which eventually can dilute what “best” means, Nosh has added superlative options: If you rate something a five star or a one star, the app will ask you afterward whether it was the best dish you ever had or the worst. That will show up on your profile, and of course, you can continually change the best and worst things you’ve eaten.

Once that data is aggregated, “it makes it a little more interesting information,” Walker said, being deliberately vague about what Nosh would be doing with that. But it seems logical that a restaurant would be keen to know if its dish (or dishes) was the worst or best thing a diner had ever eaten.

Walker, who spoke to me by phone Tuesday, says this is all in preparation for much more to come in Nosh’s quest to use social and mobile tech to flip the restaurant business on its head.

“The reason I got in to this was I was going to put some money in a friend’s restaurant and I realized restaurant owners dont have very many tools. What they’re armed with is not great. How can we provide services that will make that picture a little clearer and how do you get the diner involved?” he asked.

“I don’t want to ask the waiter what’s good, I want to ask the guy who was eating here what’s good [...] We’re looking at Nosh as a perpetual evolution of the entire restaurant and dining experience.”

Foursquare has raised million in a new funding round led by venture capital firm Andreessen-Horowitz, the company announced Friday. This latest batch of funding brings Foursquare’s total venture capital investment to just over million.

The New York City-based startup, which provides a service that allows users to share their current location with friends, plans to put the money toward hiring more engineers, developing more offerings for merchants, and expanding internationally, co-founders Dennis Crowley (pictured here) and Naveen Selvadurai wrote in a company blog post announcing the new funding. The blog post reads: “The opportunity to build something meaningful in the location space is HUGE [emphasis theirs], and we feel well-positioned to capitalize on it.”

Foursquare has grown by leaps and bounds since its launch in March 2009. The company, which is set to open a new San Francisco office this month, says it currently has more than 10 million users and more than 70 employees. With a growing list of solid competitors in the location-based social networking space — think Facebook and Google, as well as an ever-expanding list of smaller apps such as Trover — the new backing will certainly come in handy as Foursquare works to keep its edge.

Still waffling over that bank-shattering .99 iMovie purchase? We get it. Thankfully, you’ve held out long enough for the free market to come and rescue you (again) — Vimeo has just launched a legitimate alternative into the App Store today with a far, far more luscious price tag: .00. The official iOS app checks in at 20.1MB, and offers the ability to upload, manage, edit and watch your videos (as well as those conjured up by others, naturally). It’ll handle edits and uploads for both SD and HD footage, and there’s even support for pausing / resuming uploads, sharing via your favorite social networking website, and a view to statistics — if you’re into that type of narcissistic thing. The app’s up for grabs down in the source link below, and while we’re hearing that some folks are hitting upload snags every so often, we’re sure the v1.0 build will be refreshed in short order. Oh, and for the iPad and Android contingent? Your copy is en route, but a helping of patience is requested.

It’s a rarer occurrence in poker, it might occur when you play free poker games or equally in big money games, when you’ve got, for example, J-9 and the flop shows J-J-9.

You check, and your opponent bets, you call. Then the Turn comes and it’s a 6, your action is to check again, and again your opponent bets. You call.

Now at the River it’s a 2. You check for the last time, your opponent bets a big amount which could be even an all-in, then you call. You finally reveal your monster J-9 against your opponents, say, 9-7.

Usually with strong made hands (like A-K in a flop of A-10-3) we bet aggressively with the hope that our opponents will take that for a bluff and play back. Or we hope they’ll place us on a draw and call us, or they’ve got a quality showdown hand that’s not good enough for our hand and then call us. Or that they will be not willing to call with their draw (say, K-Q) and fold.

Yet with powerful made hands, in particular at the Flop, such as in the J,9 example, you are able to slow play. By this I mean you play passive in the hope that the opposing player bets strong and in doing so ends up giving us most of their chip stack.

Note that with a J-9 in the J-J-9 Flop, our checks may mean, that we may not have anything, or we may have just a draw (say, Q-10) so that they will bet on the hope that they will drive out our draw. They can’t. Our hand is like an erect statue already that is nearly impossible to demolish. The 9-7 our opponent has is decent enough to take to showdown.

But with the above, what we really want our opponent to have is the Q-10. Our check may mean that we may have nothing so that they may check along with us or semi-bluff with the open-end Straight draw. We just call.

Why wouldn’t we do the same with, say, A-J? Because with A-J, we have only Trips, and we do not want to give our opponent free cards to complete a Straight that can kill off our Trips. So we bet big, or raise big, and hope that the opponent folds, or at least put your opponent in the awkward situation of calling without sufficient pot odds.

But with J-9, we can just play it slowly. Because if your opponent hits his Straight, then he will bet big, so you can raise him. And it escalates to all-ins and calls and in a jiffy all or most of his chips are yours!

If your opponent didn’t hit his Straight, however, your slow play might mean to him that you’re the one on a draw, and you are playing passively because you are waiting for the right cards to fall. Nope! The right cards have already fallen! He will bluff, and you can take away all you can. Or he may just be in the proper mood to bluff with any hand (say, K-9 or eve A-K) and you can take his chips.

Therefore with near impossible to beat big hands you should slow play as you want opponents hands to improve into near matched hands. If they hit their Straight, for example. If you raise him he may be scared away from completing his Straight, and you will get less chips than you would by slow-playing.

Or with 9-7, he may hit an additional Nine, thus giving him a smaller Full House. Another reason is that if your opponent is in such a mood to bluff that he is willing to bluff all the way, even with nothing, then you can strip off his chips, so give him that chance to bluff.

And what better place to practice your slow play trickery than at fab free poker games NoPayPOKER.com where you get to play free poker games with 0 degree kelvin absolute zero risk of loss but can still win real money and get your bankroll paid for entry into cash sites when you’re ready to step up to cash games. Nice.

This free online poker guide comes from an experience I has in a Sit n Go event I played in a few months ago.

I wasn’t in the hand yet even I was as fooled by what happened as the losing player! The moral of the story is that you need to know when to fold and to be very aware of the outs that exist in the hand else you may get crushed.

Here’s why and how:

BLINDS 30/60

A has As-Jd, calls 60
B has ??-??, calls 60
Big blind and small blind joins (Pot 210)

FLOP: 8c-4c-As

Here A believes that his Ace is strong, so he continues his aggression:

Big blind and small blind check-fold
A bets 300
B calls 300

Because A fired out more than the pot, B is now getting less than 2-to-1 on a call, (1.7-1) which is the right price to call for a Straight or a Flush draw with two cards to come. The bet from A is enough to force an incomplete hand out. But because B is a bad player who will chase down draws, he calls.

TURN: 8c-4c-As-5c

The Five of Clubs came, and A, at this point, still has a strong hand, but has weakened. His Pair of Aces is good against what he believes should be a stray Flush draw. If he makes B continue, however, he might not be able to play his Pair. So A continues battering:

A bets 500
B calls 500

RIVER: 8c-4c-As-5c-7d

A Diamond came! Not a four-Flush. Of course A believes his Aces are good already, except if his opponent had A-K. So A tries a check-trap

A checks
B bets 1250
A calls all-in 1250

B reveals 8d-6d, wins the pot

How in the world did B have the Straight? When A saw three Clubs, he thought his opponent had, say, one Pair and one Clover which could materialize into a made Flush later. Not so, so A figured B’s move all-in was due to the value of the small pair B had already. He believed it will be only 8-x or less, so A called with what he thought was the best hand. Not the case!

True the board was risky, but A did not realize just how much danger there was. By focusing too much on the Flush, he didn’t realize that the Board was one card off a Straight (only a 6 is needed to topple him), and when only three Clubs came, he was lifted his fright of the Flush, but it made him recklessly disregard all other potential hands. His check was correct, but if he had been aware of the danger then a fold would have been best at this point.

And I, too, was duped. I thought B had a busted Flush, too. When B pushed A all-in, I, too, thought he was doing it with a pair and a busted Flush draw. It was with a Straight.

So what sort of free poker lesson does this tale show?

To know when to fold clearly! If the board is one card off a Straight or Flush or any other big made hand, and a big bet is in front of you (which you reasonably believe is not a bluff), you should, more often than not, fold.

Two is to know which cards can crush you. All of them, not just some.

For A, during the Flop and the Turn, he realized that only Clubs can crush him. On the river, because there are only three Clubs (if B had the flush made, he would have moved all-in on the Turn, and A could have folded), A thinks he?s safe. He focused on the Clubs too much; he forgot the 6.

Of course it’s easy with hindsight and analysis, being aware of factors like all the available outs is a tough one if you’re new to poker (hell even if you’ve got some time tucked away) so for that reason it’s best to practice and play poker online free a lot at http://www.NoPayPOKER.com before you go off to places like Feltstars and PartyPoker or live games and start throwing real money about. Even when you do progress I advise you to come back and play free online poker regularly in order to de-stress, make errors without loss and practice new ideas.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that the weather was bright and the days were prolonged and hot, but now the days are getting shorter and they always seem to be rainy. It was on one of these rainy days that my girlfriend wanted to go shopping; normally I would have driven to the shops, but my car was getting serviced at the main dealership. On the way home from the shops, the grey skies began to darken and it began to pour down. My girlfriend switched on her windshield wipers and all that they did was smear the rain across the windshield. This was because her wiper blades had deteriorated at the time and she needed some new ones. As she is a bit younger than me, and I knew that they had added basic upkeep to the driving test now, I asked if she was going to buy replacement wiper blades. She turned to me and mentioned a nice man would do that for her, so I got the hint that I would have to buy some replacement wiper blades and fit them for her. This is when I had to ask if she had inspected the oil levels, water levels or maybe the tyre pressures since the last time the car had been serviced, the reply was no and that was what kind males were for, and at this stage I relaised that I had many checks to carry out on her car.

When we arrived back from retail therapy it had stopped pouring down, so my girlfriend went in the house to prepare some food for us both and I turned to the car and started work. I thought I better start by browsing the wiper blades on her car makes website, as I could not get a correct oil level check from the car until it had cooled down. The initial thing I did was measure the wiper blades so that I knew what size replacement wiper blades to buy, and in doing this I noticed the wiper blades were not just destroyed but they had started to break and the frames had broken away from the wiper blades in several locations. After we consumed lunch I observed the car and the right oil that was needed, the car had been resting for about an hour now and I figured I could obtain a reasonably accurate level check from the engine oil, it was a bit on the low side but above the minimum. I did a visual inspection on the cooling water as the engine was still warm, this could have indicated that it was still pressurised and should not be opened. As a result, I could see the level on the blue plastic water bottle and it looked within the required level. Next, I had a look at the tyres again, but it had to be a visual inspection as I had not got my pressure gauge or tread measure on my person. After a look round all four tyres and giving them a little kick for good measure, I decided that they were okay and there was plenty oftread still on them.

My car was ready to be collected from its checking over now so we went to collect it, and on the way back I stopped in the nearby motor parts supplier which convienently was just round the corner from the garage. After spending some time checking out all the replacement wiper blades I selected a pair of flat wiper blades. I had not been aware of this type before and they did look cool and also because they were made from silicone, they came with a one-year guarantee. I also picked up a litre of engine oil, and when I got back to my girlfriends residence I fitted the %KLINK3% and put a few glugs of oil in the engine, bringing it back up to the maximum level. I also made a mental note to get myself some flat wiper blades as I needed to replace my wiper blades and also that I would need to remember to look over my girlfriends car from time to time.

In this free online poker tips lesson we are going to examine a situation you may find yourself in during a heads up game where you and your opponent both think you’re got the best hand and so try to slow play each other. Trap versus Trap as it’s known.

To illustrate this situation we will learn by example. For the example we’ll use a truly critical hand example, a WSOP final table head to head.

The Set Up:

BLINDS 100k/200k, ante 30k

PREFLOP:

1) A has Ks-10s, raises to 400k
2) B has As-Ad, calls 200k
3) A’s raise is standard for K-10, which is not as weak in short-handed play as with a complete table.

B could have reraised A, but A might fold. B may be worried providing the Flop came up paired like J-J-7, but B thinks that a continuation test bet will detect if A has a hand after the Flop.

Reraising preflop and this test bet has the same effect of making A fold if A does not have anything, but calling not only conceals A’s hand strength, but also makes it dangerous for B to bet if a King or a Ten comes.

FLOP: Kc-5c-3h

1) B checks
2) A bets 525k
3) B raises to 1.45m
4) A calls 875k (Pot now 3.76m)

Now A suddenly had top pair which he may think is the best hand!

B checks, again to conceal hand strength.
A bets to build the pot, then B raises.

A may interpret B’s raise as being a bluff because he may think B is drawing (note the 2 Clubs) or that B may have a smaller pair, say, A-5 or A-3.

A just calls because he is now the one looking to trap.

TURN: Kc-5c-3h-6s

1) B bets 1.5m
2) The three-Flush didn’t come. B’s bet will now be challenging A.

If A folds, B still wins a major pot. If A calls or reraises, B can push him all-in if action gets back to B.
A’s trap seems to be working up to now.

Now B may have decided that A is still on a Flush draw with perhaps a small Pair, say Ac-3c.

Moreover, because preflop A obscured his hand strength well (just smooth-calling), B can think that A also has a King, however with a weaker kicker.

Now he is convinced that A is preparing to call anything he hauls in the middle, and he also thinks his trap is working. So what does he do?

1) A moves All In
2) B calls 3.6m (Pot now about 14 million)

Both think their traps are winning! In poker, the bigger the hands, the bigger the chips in front.

Both did well in preserving the balance building the pot and disguising hand strength, but only one hand can win.

A is only able to win with a river King or Ten.

RIVER: Kc-5c-3h-6s-10c (!)

A wins! But had A carried on trapping through to the river with this river card, it’s still the same. Both still have big hands, both are prepared to trap, and both are prepared to ravenously guard each other’s chips when the chance appears.

The Trap vs Trap In summary

Spend some time to read and appreciate the principles behind this article. Aim to appreciate the key facts behind what’s going on within this example and think of ways to put these lessons into your personal play.

While poker is not a hard game to learn it is a very hard game to win money at regularly if you are playing seriously.

But if (and when) you learn how to play poker well then you’ll make some good money. Why?

Simply that the vast majority of players you come up against never get to what can be termed a good level.

So you, if you can get to a good standard will do very well very easily. You don’t have to be a TV pro to make good money in poker!

The fact that most players are at such a low competence will mean that when you hunt/play them on free online poker or low stakes sites you’ll be able to clean up.

Nick from top free online poker site http://www.NoPayPOKER.com advises that to learn to play poker free really well go visit the NoPayPOKER blog, the free poker lessons there cover all levels from beginner to expert, plus, the site itself as a free online poker site is the perfect place to learn to play poker free.
