The Way To Dress For A Formal
Understanding how to dress for a formal truly isn’t as tough as some make it out to be. The only genuine issue is that as young adults, you most likely don’t have much experience with wearing formal wear. The inexperience factor can make getting prepared difficult since a decision on what to wear has to be made in addition to what looks good on the individual. I wrote this article to teach people what they need to know about dressing for a formal.
To begin with, you should know that you don’t need to devote a lot of money on your clothing. The formal wear that is purchased today probably won’t even fit next year so it makes little sense to drop large amounts of cash on it. You won’t see too many people at a formal wearing Armani suits.
If your formal calls for a tuxedo, you won’t have much choice in what to wear. Black and midnight blue are really the only colors you should be wearing. Wear a nice bow tie, a pair of plain black shoes, a black belt, and a vest and you should be fine.
Lapel choices range from notched, peaked, and shawl, while jacket button choices vary between two and three buttons. Just ask your sales person to show you all of the styles and choose the one you want to wear the most.
The folks that must wear a suit to their formal have many more alternatives to pick from. In addition to the black suit, you can wear a charcoal gray, navy blue, or chocolate brown suit. I’d avoid the white suit unless you want to make a scene.
Get a set of burgundy shoes or black shoes and a belt to match. You’ll also need to get a nice tie and dress shirt. Try and see what a red tie and a white shirt looks like with the ensemble.
Be sure to keep in mind that your formal is supposed to be a fun event to attend. Get yourself a nice outfit to wear, but do not worry your self sick about it.

Silk Space Invaders Tie – Because ‘Black Tie Event’ Is Open To Interpretation

By Andrew Liszewski
Just because you’re being forced to wear a tux to some fancy-shmancy event doesn’t mean you can’t add your own flair. For about $40 (€ 29.90) from Since 1337 you can order a black silk tie, with either blue or green Space Invaders accents, that tells the other guests you’ve decided to play by the rules of high society, but are willing to exploit every loophole you can find.
