Auto rates: Right now, there is a very good probability you are overpaying for car insurance. Policyholders have a tendency to decide on an insurance company and stay with the company out of comfort for years, even when it’s not in their very best interest to do so. You might not be particularly content with your monthly premiums, the client service, the car insurance ratings, and/or the quality of the protection, nevertheless, you think that preserving the status quo is easier than the problem of obtaining a brand new insurance policy. That is where you are wrong. At auto rates, we make choosing ideal protection at minimum price a very simple and rewarding experience.

We realize that when you’ve been with the insurance company for a long time, going outside of the comfort zone to find a brand new insurance plan is hard. Nonetheless, the gains far outnumber the costs. In many circumstances, our visitors have saved hundreds of dollars per year by utilizing our site to evaluate auto rates on insurance and buy new coverage with the best rates. Confronted with the prospect of hundreds of dollars in savings, you would possibly be more than prepared to step outside of your insurance comfort zone and attempt something distinct. Best of all, it is possible to obtain far better, much more cost-effective coverage without actually investing any energy. Actually, you do not even have to leave your home pc.

In lots of states, auto insurance has become required by law. If you are caught not having insurance, you could be assessed major fines and also risk the loss of your drivers license. Aside from complying with the law, car insurance is usually a smart investment. Vehicle accidents happen much more frequently than you assume, and auto restoration expenses are greater than ever before. And, in our ever more litigious society, the chances that you may also be sued by another motorist in the accident are rather high. Devoid of insurance, a single judgment against you in a suit could possibly put at risk your most precious assets, like your house, your retirement plan, along with your personal savings.

The New York Times has reported that good financing offers can be out there for people with good credit score that are prepared to look around.

As we all know, 52 cards make up a deck and whatever 5 cards are dealt out, one of those will always win. You could be looking at a completely awful hand of a pair of 2s, or even an A high, but whatever they are, one will always win. This is the wonderful world of poker, not knowing which hands are going to win the game.

When dealt cards you must first decide whether they are suitable to your style of play. Then the decision is whether to fold, call or raise the big blind.

Every individual player has their own style of playing. Some players will only play face cards, whereas others will play any card given to them. That is a style of play. I know of many players who will play nearly every hand pre-flop as long as the bet is within their comfort zone.

Once the flop is seen, it becomes more interesting and a bigger decision needing to be made. If you are holding 3 4 off suit and the flop shows AKJ, what is the likelihood that you will continue with the hand? I would imagine you would fold, unless it is a check through until the turn card is shown.

No poker player is the same, and its important to remember that you can never bee 100% sure how each player will play a hand. There could very well be someone holding 3 4 offsuit and try to bluff and bet big once the flop is shown. I, for one, would never attempt that with such low cards, but I have seen it happen, it’s a great mystery of how others play!

For this reason, it is essential that you study each of your opponents where possible before sitting down with them at a table. You should be able to grasp enough information about their game play to figure out their moves when playing them.

Does that always work to your advantage you may ask yourself. Well, the answer would be no. As I stated earlier, any given 5 cards will win a hand and they may very well be holding Q 10 and flopped a straight. But the odds are in your favor to predict certain scenarios after learning others’ style of play.

Always be observant, never just assume someone is bluffing, and most important, remember to play your game. Your style of play is ultimately what you must rely on to win in poker so be sure to practice and refine in free poker online freerolls before moving up to cash games.

Short Version: You want to listen to Fergie in the kitchen. Don’t worry, I understand. Fergie and cooking eggs just go together well. If you’ll be piping Fergie off an iPhone or iPod, you’ll probably want a compatible speaker system.

Like anything in the audio world, the price tag on dedicated speaker systems for the iPhone or iPod can be surprisingly cheap ($30-40 bucks), or mind-blowingly expensive ($500+, like the Bose SoundDock 10). Most tend to work their way into a comfort zone of $129-$159.99 – and at an MSRP of $149.99, that’s exactly where you’ll find the Klipsch iGroove SXT. Originally released in 2007, the SXT has just been re-released with improved sound quality and compatibility with the latest iPhones and iPods. It’s not perfect, but with dual 2.5-inch subwoofers, it packs a good amount of boom for your buck.

Features:

Dual 2.5-inch woofers in ported enclosure and dual 0.75-inch horn-loaded tweeters

Features 3.5-mm auxiliary input

Remote Control

Pros:

The sound quality matches the price perfectly. It’s not going to blow away $200+ systems – but of any speaker I’ve heard under $150, this one takes the cake

It looks great

S-Video output for video/slideshow playback on compatible iPods

Cons:

No volume indicator

No FM radio

Review:

There I was in the kitchen, still rockin’ my pajama pants from the night before. Half a dozen eggs were left in the carton, the pan was just beginning to smoke, and the Klipsch SXT was just begging for me to hit the play button. I shot the go-ahead signal across the room with the remote control right as the first egg splashed down.

Listen up ya’ll, cause this is it. The beat that I’m banging is de-lic-ious.

Yep! I was listening to Fergie. Do I like Fergie? Oh hells nah. In fact, she drives me absolutely bat shit insane – but that’s exactly why I’d picked her for this test. If a stereo could make Fergie’s sinus-backed voice sound good, I’d give it a thumbs up. And sure enough, Fergie sounded pretty damn good. The sound was filling the room better than I’d expected out of the tiny box, with a decent amount of bass pounding out of the dual 2.5″ subs.

I dug around for a few speaker systems for the sake of comparison, and, from a sound quality standpoint, the Klipsch SXT seems to fit exactly where they’ve priced it. It blows away the $80-$90 iHome clock radios we had laying around the office, and sounds quite a bit better than the almost identically priced JBL On Stage 200ID. It fell a bit short against the JBL On Stage 400 series — but considering that that 400 series costs nearly $100 more, that’s pretty much what was expected.

Dedicated iPod speakers tend to be ugly chunks of black plastic, but that’s not the case here. The SXT is essentially one big glorious speaker grill, accented with a bit of silver plastic around the edges. It manages to be color neutral without looking cheap, so it ought to fit well in just about any room you throw it in.

Snap back to the kitchen – pajama pants, eggs, etc. No one was home (and thus, no one was around to make fun of my music selection) – might as well crank it up, right? I hit the volume up button – it got louder. I hit it again – it got louder again. So far, so good. The volume level was hurts-so-good loud at this point, but there wasn’t even a hint of distortion yet. I hit the button again and… nothing. I’d capped out the volume, but had no way of knowing as there isn’t any sort of volume indicator.

There also isn’t any FM radio. Considering that most people would presumably use this in rooms where they don’t otherwise have an audio system — and that it’s almost standard amongst lower-end systems — this is a bit disappointing. Alas, FM radio almost always gets abandoned once the price tag goes up, presumably because FM radio is the last thing you want (besides AM radio) when you want to be pushing quality sound.

If you’re looking for an iPod/iPhone speaker set that smokes the sub-$100 sets and the majority of stuff available around the same $150 price tag, the Klipsch iGroove SXT ought to fit the bill.

As you settle back into the dorms and sift through syllabi while searching for drink specials from the local pub, you also should put in some time improving your social life. The fall is a great time to lay a solid foundation of dating success on campus. To provide some tips on turbocharging your dating life, we turned to Neil Strauss, author of the international bestseller The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists and founder of the Stylelife Academy.

Be Adventurous
The first thing you need to realize about improving your dating life is that some techniques may seem unusual or even a bit uncomfortable at first.

“Your goal is to understand attraction and social dynamics,” Strauss says. “Often the things we’ve been taught by our parents, teachers, and friends fail us here. And logic and attraction, unfortunately, have nothing to do with each other. Attraction is often counterintuitive. When I was learning the game, I did some embarrassing things that seemed ridiculous to me, but they actually worked.”

The key is being willing to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. If you spend all your time in the computer lab, try going to the hippest club in town. If you’re the stereotype of the frat boy party animal, take a chance on a poetry reading. And make sure you talk to people as soon as you arrive, instead of standing alone in the corner. Don’t let a few uncomfortable moments stop you from trying something new. It’s the only way you’ll learn and grow.

Be the Social Center
The second thing is that you should understand that you can improve your dating success. Many of the factors that influence your skill with women are under your control.

“Guys need to understand that looks are not as important as we think they are,” Strauss says. “Women are more attracted to status than looks. And that status is not about money or fame. It’s about a set of behaviors. For starters, it’s about being perceived as the social center of the room. And making sure you don’t come across as needy or supplicating or reaction-seeking around a woman you’re attracted to.”

Be sure to understand that being the social center of the room can have many interpretations, depending on your group of friends and the nature of the room. It doesn’t mean you have to be the drunkard dancing on the bar wearing a pitcher of beer as a hat. If it’s a quiet dinner party, then you should make sure everyone has a good time. If it’s a debate team happy hour, then you should influence the conversation and ensure there are no lulls. In short, being the social center means you strive to make sure everyone, male or female, has a good time in your presence, whatever the setting.

Be Exceptional
The third thing you should do to improve your social life is strive to be the exception. Always be interesting. If everyone other male in the bar is blabbering about fantasy football and how drunk they got last night, then you should talk to women about astrology, whether magic spells are real or psychological, or even the latest fashion displayed on Gossip Girl. Just remember to be different.

“Make yourself more interesting by learning things like handwriting analysis. You can look at her notes in class and say, ‘Oh God, you’re trouble.’ When she asks why, explain it’s because of the large loops in her letters. When she asks for more, tell her, with a smile, you’d like to tell her more, but you don’t trust large-loop people. This is just a random example, but the idea is to learn a skill, and then use that skill as a way to teach someone about themselves and, in the process, display your charming personality.”

Another key way of being the exception is probably the most counterintuitive thing you can do. Conventional wisdom instructs men to plant seeds about how well-matched they are with a woman. “You like sushi?” guys will exclaim. “So do I! That’s awesome. We should totally get sushi sometime.”

The problem with this is that every man does it. So to be the exception, you must go in the opposite direction. Instead of telling her why you would be great together, you should tell her teasingly why it would never work.

“You’re really cool, and normally I would be totally into a girl like you,” you can say. “Too bad I don’t date English majors.” Say this with a bit of a smile, so you don’t come across as rude or dismissive. Or, you could say, “My mother told me to stay away from girls like you.” The key here is that you’re the one guy in the joint who hasn’t approached her on bended knee with visions of your great life together. That makes you the exception. That makes you interesting.

Miscellaneous Tips

Finally, here are a few random tips.

Remember to be non-reaction seeking. Approach a woman because you genuinely like to interact with people and have a good time, not because you want her number. When you approach, your goal is to start an interesting conversation, not instantly whisk her away to a romantic private island.

Pretend that you’re hosting a party wherever you are. Your job is to interact with everyone and ensure they are having fun. This means interacting with men as well. Other guys in the area are not to be feared or showed up. Be cool to them, have fun, show them respect. And instead of being your competition, you can even enlist them in helping you get the girl.

Don’t wait until a woman is alone to say hello. “Most guys won’t approach women if they’re with men,” Strauss says. “But most of the time, those women aren’t even dating the guys they’re with and they end up going all night without other men talking to them. Instead, approach the group and pay attention to everyone there. Respect the men and don’t ignore the friends while you attract the woman who interests you. If you win over her friends, you win her.”

That's Clark Little, master of wave photography. He gets wetter than other shooters capturing ocean motion, so we asked him for his trade secrets. The biggie: "Hold your breath."

You're a surfer who has gained fame as a photographer—what exactly is your background?

I've been on Oahu's North Shore for over thirty years—so I'm kind of raised here on the shore and in the Waimea Bay shorebreak. I've surfed the shorebreak off and on for years, and the love and joy for the oceans has always been with me. So, a couple years ago—maybe two and a half years ago—I decided to bring a camera. My wife wanted a picture for the house and I went and did it. What I do when I go out is use my surfing experience with the camera.

There's a photo of you inside this overhead barrel (above) and you're kind of just standing there, with camera in a hard casing with a dome for the lens and a handle on the bottom. Why do people use that setup in the water?

I preset everything before I go out in the water. When you're out there and the big waves are coming in you don't have time to look through a hole and be fiddling with things. You just point and shoot—once you have that sweet spot on all the settings it's pretty much keeping the drops from the dome. It's a matter of being in the right place at the right time. That's where the knowledge comes in, so you can get into the most gnarliest impact zone as possible but you don't get hammered.

For the most part, I try to stake out the back. I get doughnuts and get beat-up sometimes for sure, but at the same time I love to be in there and feel the thunder and the bass and the turbulence. It's pretty cool. Mother nature has a lot of beautiful things to offer. It can get scary also—don't get me wrong—but the ocean is my comfort zone fortunately, and I want to be out there. It's not like I have to be out there, but I want to be out in the ocean, you know?

When you've got a camera in your hand and a big wave is coming, explain what your body does. What do you do with your body to make sure that you don't lose your camera and you don't get hurt?

First of all you get a good breath. It's just anticipating. If I'm standing knee deep and a ten-foot wave is coming in, I'm actually going towards the beach because it's sucking me out. You want to get in towards shore because you don't want to miss the wave. If you get sucked out, sometimes it's past the wave. You want to be in the impact zone, so you're going the other way, knowing kind of where it's going to break for the most part—you're anticipating the sweet spot. And so you're going the other way, and right when it breaks, you're going to pull the trigger and try to get as many frames of that gnarliest barrel shot as possible. Of course after it breaks, for the most part, you try to sneak out the back of the wave.

You're wearing fins?

Yeah you're wearing fins for sure. That's my life vest to be honest. I wouldn't go anywhere without swim fins.

Is that because you have to carry a camera in your hands, so you can't be paddling?

Yeah, the camera definitely is not light. It's a chunk. When the waves are big, you forget about it, believe it or not. When you're rocking and the waves are huge and you're excited, you don't even know. It's like instinct, the hand goes up and click click click, and down and back and behind the wave, it turns in to an instinctive kind of thing.

Sometimes I run up and down the shore to get into position to get those weird ones that break right on the sand. For those I don't wear fins because I gotta be fast—move in, move out. You get toasted every time you get the ones that are on the dry sand because there's no way out, you can't really get out the back of them. You just have to roll with it up the beach 30 feet or 40 feet.

Without giving away your secrets, can you tell us about your camera and your settings?

I use a Nikon D3 with a 16mm fisheye lens, and then I also use a D200 and D300 with a 10.5mm lens. I preset the focus—there's like a sweet spot on that. Depth of field is insane with that setup, so, pretty much everyone else can figure out the rest of it.

I'd like to see you with a Canon 5D Mark II and get some video to be honest.

There's also the Nikon D300s. I could use my same waterproof housing and lenses and go out there and get some footage, I don't know what 24fps would look like, but at least we could get an idea with this new camera.

All right so, just imagine you've got this buddy with no experience. How does someone with a point-and-shoot camera take pictures of waves?

For me with experience it's different, but for the inexperienced, to start off I would just go with like a little SD Canon and a little underwater housing that costs around $150. [Ed. note: You can also buy one of the new waterproof point-and-shoots from Pentax, Canon, Panasonic or Olympus.] You definitely gotta know how to swim, and you gotta have swim fins. You obviously gotta know your limits.

Be familiar with the ocean. Watch the waves prior to going out for at least 20 to 30 minutes, because sometimes there will be lulls or periods when there are no sets and then out of the blue a big 6 to 8 foot wave can come in and clean house. So you have to respect the Mother Nature, that's huge. Once you get out there, you just give it a whirl and try to take some images. You gotta keep the lens clear, the front of the case. You can use Rain-X or you can spit on it. There are different methods that people use to keep it clear.

How many hours a week do you shoot?

It all depends—when the waves are good I'll go out for a five-hour session and pretty much be fried all day. Or I'll even do two two-hour sessions. On average, I would say at least a couple hours a day. When it's good, I'm out there five hours.

Are you hunting waves the way surfers hunt waves? Going to places looking for hidden breaks?

I have a couple spots that I'll call secret. There are maybe one or two guys that have found them. In general, I'm lucky to get everything right here in my home, and when I'm home shooting big Waimea shorebreaks or Waikiki shorebreaks, for the most part I'm by myself, which is good. A lot of photographers don't want to get into the big shorebreaks and shoot waves. So I'm lucky in that aspect and I can just feel the motion of the ocean and play.

It's like a playground for me. I'm like a kid in candy store, just having fun getting these images and coming home and looking at them and then sharing them with the world. It's hopefully a win-win situation and, besides my family, it's my joy.

Some people are painters, and they paint—it's cool and it's amazing and their talents are awesome. But it's kind of neat to add that extreme factor to the art, trying to capture the art of the wave.
