Webcams have certainly narrowed the distance between loved ones, but it’s hard to argue that two people hovering over their laptop screens can rival an in-person conversation. Moving things over to the big screen could make the exchange much more comfortable for everyone involved — you just need an HDTV, and a Biscotti. The small black box should be ready to turn the biggest screen in your home into a high definition video phone fairly soon, having just landed in the FCC’s living room. Packed inside is a camera, microphone and 802.11b/g/n WiFi — plug the contraption into your TV and you can instantly make calls to family and friends, with no monthly charges. A pair of HDMI ports let the device serve as a bridge between your television and cable box, so folks with limited connections don’t have to choose between Dad and Mr. Mom. Biscotti will also interact with computers, tablets and smartphones via an as-yet unnamed “video player” to bring life-sized video chat to the masses. There’s no word yet on pricing or availability, but if the FCC has finished nibbling at it, then it shouldn’t be long before we get a taste ourselves.

The idea of a rogue, genius inventor working outside the confines of a government or corporate lab, creating a new technology that could potentially change the world, is certainly tantalizing. Who knows: Guido Fetta could be the next Tesla, and his QDrive could very well revolutionize space travel. Or it could be an idea lacking a sound scientific basis. More »

This fearsome contraption is the handiwork of a couple of amateur DEFCON-types who reckoned that any self-respecting spy plane ought to be able to impersonate cellphone towers. And that’s exactly what the Wireless Aerial Surveillance Platform does — it tricks AT&T and T-Mobile handsets into connecting to it, then re-routes the incoming calls via VOIP so they don’t drop, while simultaneously recording all conversations to 32GB of onboard storage. It can also handle a bit of WiFi snooping on the side, thanks to a Linux-based hacking toolkit and a 340 million word dictionary for guessing passwords. What’s more, the WASP apparently achieves all of this without breaking a single FCC regulation. So, er, that’s fine then. Oh yeah, and we don’t want any of that stuffed crust nonsense, you hear?

Okay, so the U-shaped contraption you see above won’t get a motorsports enthusiast’s blood boiling quite like the Fanatec CSR Elite wheel we tested earlier, but for a lot of gamers the CSR is a bit too much. The Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel, on the other hand, is rather more manageable — and affordable, with a .99 price. It’s a simple, lightweight thing, with an over-sized trigger on the back of each grip. These have very low resistance, so they tend to clap against the back when you mash the throttle, but this plus a long throw means it’s easy to be precise on the gas or brake. And that, of course, is what they’re intended to be used for. On the right prong are the four face buttons, on the left a D-pad. Start and Back are in the middle along with the Guide button, but sadly the L and R shoulder buttons didn’t make the start.

That’s a mighty shame, making us wonder what compatibility will be like for racers that use those for up- and down-shifting. Regardless, with Forza Motorsport 4 the wheel works like a charm. There’s an almost imperceptible amount of lag between you turning the thing in air and your reaction being conveyed on screen, but it’s not a problem. The triggers feel great and, while shifting using the D-pad is a little clumsy, it works. Ultimately and predictably the Speed Wheel doesn’t deliver the most hardcore of racing experiences, but it’ll be a lot more couch-friendly than your average wheel and pedal setup when it ships this October.

Global Positioning System or GPS is a space based navigation system developed by the US for its military operations. The US government made the GPS available to non combatants in the 1980s. It is made from twenty-four satellites in orbit and these networks in turn relay actual location and other time related stats and figures regardless of weather conditions and is available twenty-four hours each day. Up to this date, it is free to be used to anyone who has a GPS contraption.

GPS gizmos include a wide array of tools which can sometimes be used by both professionals and non-professionals. Among them are :

GPS in cellphone is perhaps the most typical and most accessible gps device for standard folk. It is used to track locations and family members. It is also handy for navigating streets and for emergency calls in just about anywhere else in the world.

The vehicle tracking, people tracking and even pet tracking systems are also the most generally used GPS device in the market. It easily tracks and provides updates if there is movement in the person, car or the pet.

Map making GPS devices help both non combatants and military personnel to provide definite location and updates in maps.

Geotagging GPS systems help in locating and coordinating objects and other records for map making. It also helps in giving information about places of interests when one is on tour or on vacation.

High tech gadgets with GPS often include tools and equipments assisting in disaster and emergency operations, as well as aircraft tracking and for navigational purposes. The GPS gives accurate measurements to help these aircraft and ocean liners. The GPS also assists in measurement of quakes as used in tectonics.

Another type of high tech GPS devices can measure and compute phasors of power systems and it also aids surveyors to make an accurate measurement and boundary limits of properties

Among those mentioned above, the GPS in cell-phones and auto, people and pet tracking systems are the most in demand among standard consumers. It helps families to keep posted on each other’s location and it is also a handy tool for street navigation whether in your hometown or if you are on vacation.

As a trusted seller, it is very important to target the 3 main feature of a GPS gadget i. E the built in maps, re-routing functions and the speech powered directions. Added features highly rely on your customers’ needs like screen sizes, search capabilities, net connections, Bluetooth capability and multi-media players.

You need to inform your clients that these GPS devices are liable to laws and regulations imposed by any State or country. It is important to tell them that these restrictions are imposed to make sure that their devices does not meddle with any military as well as aircraft activities and to guarantee safety for all.

GPS hi tech gadgets are free from the space based satellites and the software which runs them like its tracking features are available along with the device , like those of the mobile telephone or car GPS and handheld models. Updates can be downloaded from a personal computer and is dependent on the make of the device . Many of these devices also feature an online access to numerous web related activities from map to other information info.

The data on the more typically utilised GPS devices should steer you in labeling your products. It is also best to check the GPS device specification dependent on the brand you plan to sell on your store. This will ensure that your clients are informed about the products to match the value of their money.

We first heard of the Shredder back in September, a crazy, treaded contraption that looked fit to appear in the next Starship Troopers film — or maybe a TMNT reboot at least. It’s the product of the overactive mind of Ben Gulak, the guy behind the Uno transforming and self-balancing motorcycle that we saw at CES. When Ben showed us some videos of the DTV Shredder at the show we knew we had to ride it, and so we did, hitting the sand in New Mexico and managing to come away from the experience unharmed and only a little dehydrated. Come on in to check out our experience on both the consumer-friendly Sport and rather brawnier Military edition, both of which could be in production by the end of the year.

It doesn’t move and it certainly doesn’t transform, but we’re still not sure we’d stand anywhere near this jagged metal contraption ripped right out of the silver screen. The giant Megatron tank replica from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen not only looks like it’d grind us up like so much beef beneath its spiky treads, it reportedly weighs five tons and stands eight feet tall. It’s allegedly constructed entirely out of scrap metal by a designer known as “Steel Legend” — a honorific that we imagine few will dare question now. If only it could take on junkyard Optimus Prime in a Beijing Battle Royale. More pics of the tank at our source links below!
