Today we shall bring you the cool computer gadgets that have recently joined the market. And just to kick it off in luxurious style, we shall present to you one of those cool computer gadgets that we are only allowed to dream about, since its price is $26,730.<-300×250 Medium Rectangle – center->I’m talking about the World’s Most Expensive Computer Mouse since it is entirely covered in small diamonds. I’m not sure if anyone could afford to give this mouse away as a gift unless we have men which are really in love with their ladies and want to cover them in diamonds. You can choose whether you want the Scatter Diamonds or the Diamond Flower Design. To tell the truth, the World’s Most Expensive Computer Mouse is not as cool as a gadget, as it is a fashion accessory. In fact, the mouse itself offers nothing spectacular or revolutionary in term of technology. But it is still something nice to have around the house.

As much fun as it was reading about the World’s Most Expensive Computer Mouse, time to read about the real deal, one of those cool computer gadgets that one really most own if they are considered a gaming passionate. This is why are want to talk about the new ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition video card. Why do I think this graphics card is revolutionary? Well, it does come with 2 GB GDDR5 video memory which gives me a hint that we are talking about some serious gaming power here. Want to hear something even more amazing? This video card can render over 1 billion pixels every second and it can send video to 6 displays. If you dig even deeper, you will discover that this ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition video card comes with a tone more features that make it the best video card on the market as we speak.

Since USB gadgets have always proven themselves to be very useful and fun at the same time, we just had to mention one USB device in this cool computer gadgets list. The USB Beverage Chiller Bag is surely going to become your new best friend in times when heat is simply something unbearable. We know you hate having to spend hours in front of your computer or laptop when your friends are somewhere out there enjoying the sun by a swimming pool or at a picnic, but at least know you can drink a cold can of beer of soda while you are getting some work done. Not only do you get to benefit from cold beverage, but the bag comes in different colors so the men won’t have pink accessories and the ladies won’t get them in black or military. The USB Beverage Chiller Bag costs only $8.69 and it is very simple to use. All you have to do is to connect it to one of your laptop or PC USB ports and then slip your drink right in the middle.

Cool Shooting Games

Shooting games have got to be some of the most popular games on the planet. People invest thousands of dollars in gaming computers or laptops just to be able to enjoy high quality shooter games that aren’t just fun, they also test some of your skills, like shooting accuracy. If you want to try some of these games, we have gathered cool shooting games. Please note that in order to play some of the games below, you are going to need a cool computer, like an Alienware machine because cool games have high requirements.
<-300×250 Medium Rectangle – center->
I am not a shooter fan, I’m more of an RPG person but Clive Barker’s “Jericho” was pretty amazing even for me. It is a huge leap from Barker’s “Undying”. You play the captain of a special force squad which is sent on a mission apparently in the middle of nowhere. You are somewhere in the desert where you found a lost city that rinks with evil all around. You must destroy all evil which will eventually spread in the entire world unless you stop it. It has superb special effect but we recommend you don’t play it if you have any heart problems. It’s more than a shooter, it’s like a horror movie and you are going to see some pretty ugly (horrifying I might say) monsters that are waiting for you around the corner. To get the maximum thrills out of this game, try playing it at night, with all the lights turned off inside the house, preferably when you’re alone and turn up the volume of those speakers. We guarantee you will feel the “chills”. This game will only run on Windows Vista or Windows XP operating systems. You need a minimum 1 GB of RAM and a sound card which is DirectX 9 compatible. As for the graphic cards, you will need an ATI Radeon X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950, HD2900 or an nVidia GeForce 6600, 6800, 7100, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950 and 8800.

What happens if you combine “Night of the Living Dead” with “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”? You’d probably get Left 4 Dead 2. This is an action shooter combined with zombie stories and spiced up with some chainsaws and axes. Oh, the horror! The game play is excellent. You can even see changes in the weather effects. If you liked the first Left 4 Dead you will love the sequel which has some very interesting upgrades and improvements. Sound cool? Well, if you want to play this game, you have to free about 7 or 8 GB of disk space and make sure you have Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 installed. The processor has to be (at least!!!) an Intel Pentium4 at 3.0 GHz. You need a DirectX 9 compatible video card and sound card, an nVidia 6600 or better. There are the minimum requirements. It would be ideal for you to have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and an nVidia 7600 graphics card. Gather the necessary requirements and you are in for some serious zombie shooting.

Another candidate on our cool shooting games list is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.  The game makes much more sense if you played the first Call of Duty because the campaigns are somehow related. If you have a good PC backing you up then there is nothing that can stop you from becoming a real killing machine. The campaign is quite short so don’t start complaining and say you haven’t been warned.  Still, this won’t prevent you from having some real fun with this military shooter. You have an option to skip some levels entirely but the campaign is already short and in the end the satisfaction is much bigger if you finish all the levels completely.  There are different classes you can design in order to highlight different skills. To play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 you need to have at least an Intel Pentium 4 processor at 3.2 GHz or even a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor. You also need 1 GB of RAM and Microsoft DirectX 9 installed.  As for the graphics card, you should have a 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT or ATI Radeon 1600XT (or even better). You must have at least 12 GB of free disk space (quite a big game, isn’t it?).

If you are more into realistic shooters rather than monster-zombies, you might just like Battlefield 2. This is also a sequel of the first game but with nice improvements. The graphics are much better and this makes game play much more pleasant. One thing we have to mention is that this game is a team-work game so when you join the online server, you will automatically be assigned to one of the two teams (US Marine Corps and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army) but you can always switch sides. No matter who you fight for you will still benefit from different equipment and technology.  When you enter the game, the first thing you have to do is choose a kit which consists of different weapons and abilities and the more different they are, the better your team will handle the missions.

cool-shooting-games3

As for the system requirements, you need at least Windows XP operating system and a 1.7 GHz Intel Celeron D / Pentium 4 processor (AMD Athlon XP/ Sempron will do as well) or even better. You need at least 512 MB of RAM which is quite a surprise since we imagined we would need at least 1 GB of RAM. You should have about 3 GB of free disk space. The sound card and the video card need to be DirectX 9 compatible. As for the graphics card, you should have nVidia GeFore FX 5700 or ATI Radeon 8500 or greater (with at least 128 MB of video memory).

battlefield_2_pc_36

If these games look too complicated or if you just don’t have a computer which is good enough to run these games, there are always some shooting games you can play online. They are not as spectacular as Left 4 Dead or Jericho but it’s still a good way to help you pass the time.

Gadgets are those technological objects, being them devices or objects using devices. They have particular functions and that’s why they are considered smarter than the normal technological objects. Gadgets can be divided in several types as Mechanical Gadgets (e.g. watches, bicycle), Electronic Gadgets (printers, mobile phones, TVs), Programmable Gadgets and Application Gadgets (Google Map, GPS).

The Gadgets actually express an innovative idea, of doing unusual activities, activities which are mostly used to facilitate some jobs or ways to do things.

Nowadays, people are fascinated by the technology and its fast forwarding mode, because many of the technology’s ideas help them in several activities or help them just having fun.

Did you ever in the summer, while you were at work, thought about a cold cold juice or cold water or whatever drinks refreshes you? Of course you were sitting at your computer, with no mood to work because it’s too hot in there, and near you there is no fridge and of course your launch break is finished. Well, welcome in the modern Era. I present you the FRIDGE for USB.

It has an USB Cable through which you can connect the USB Fridge to your computer. The fridge starts to work and your can of Cola will be cold as ice.

Further more, I will give you examples of cool computer gadgets and through this maybe I’ll give you some ideas of gifts.

The Flexible USB LED Light is made to be used by Laptops and Notebooks and it’s perfect when you are having room mates, and you don’t want to disturb them with the light from your room. You connect the lamp to the Laptop through the USB Cable, and the light will be just for you and your room mates will be graceful because you let them have a good sleep.

Smart E Bear is perfect when your kids are having too much energy, or if you don’t have time for them. The Smart E Bear is an incredible Teddy Bear, which, when connected to computer (through USB cable) is runs a program that has in its memory lots of story and songs for your kinds. It can also talk to the kids by saying their names (it has more than 1000 of names in its database). All you have to do is to tell the Teddy bear what to do, and it can be the perfect nanny.

CanCam is perfect for you if you want to find out who is entering your office or record things that happens when you are not present in a specific place. It is a spy camera which records voices and images just if you connect it to a computer using the USB cable.

It is absolutely perfect because no one will actually notice that it is a spy cam, because it has the shape of a Coca-Cola Can, unless someone may want to drink a glass of Cola.

Are you tired of buying hundreds of pens and when you need pen, you never have one? Now is time for revenge and teach people to use their own pen. The Shocking Pen can be a source of fun but it is also the pen that will be yours forever.
cool-computer-gadgets3

If a person comes in your office, and tries to take in hand the pen, that person will have some shocks from the pen and its special circuits , and will leave alone your pen forever. In this way, you don’t need to buy anymore lots of pens. Well, unfortunately this pen has no ink to write as it’s just a joke, but they will teach your colleagues that should not take what does not belong to them.

Coolest PC Cases

When out shopping for a new computer, desktop or notebook, always remember the Holy Trinity of gadgets, specs, design and price. Considering the last element, the price, we all know that we live in a world where technology gets cheaper by the month. The lists with specifications of computers get larger every year, but let’s face it! We all love new technology, even if we don’t fully use it every single day. So for an everyday user is a list of computer specs enough to dig in the savings and buy a new computer? Well no, not really. Design is the key element in a purchase, while the second important element is branding. That’s what manufactures discovered in the last few years. We all know that Apple is the leader in the design department, but also in marketing their products. Design sells a good part of their notebooks or MacBooks and iMacs. But if we focus our attention to the Apple PC’s we will see that the Mac Pro has the same conservative looks for quite some time. Why? Well, because technology prevails after all. But then again aluminum cases are very popular right now.

When is the right time to build your own computer?

Right about now. Prices have gone lower and you can easily find every computer part you may need to build your ultimate computer.

Tips

- Always check the prices from online stores with local resellers. Watch out for extra charges if you are ordering a custom design.

- If you are organized, get the computer parts from the internet and build it yourself. Order just your computer case so that it looks cooler.

How to choose a proper cool PC case for your computer?

If you are looking to build high-end computer to use it as a workstation then the coolest PC case you should be looking for is the aluminum one.

Are you looking to build a gaming PC? Then you need a chilling cool computer case. These cases are really cool to look at and are designed with the latest technology, making them really efficient. Chilling cool PC cases are made from different type of materials like aluminum and acrylic. The key word for these cases is hardness. You can use your computer for many hours at maximum capacity and the case will not warm up. These cases use water cooling case fans, CPU fans and other kits that prevent the warming up of your computer.

If you are looking to make your computer more silent then here are a couple of tips: PC’s usually come with ordinary cheap fans. Therefore these fans make a lot of noise. Upgrade them. AMD Asthlon processors tend to heat up more than Intel, so choose a more powerful fan if you prefer AMD processors. Always have at least two fans. It will make a big difference once it reduces the noise of Graphic Acceleration processor fans.

Last but not least, if you are looking to get a small desktop computer you are looking for Mac mini or a substitute. The mini computers contain a mother board, power supply, memory and other components. It usually doesn’t have an additional video chipset. These computers are perfect for daily users with real expectations. If Apple mini is not for you then a cool mini case might just be Micro ATX case.

Coolest PC cases

Looking for the coolest PC case? Keep in mind that computer cases are not all about design. There are a lot of technical requirements you need to be careful. Modern cool PC cases, like Antec Nine Hundred, have a slick black color and huge fans (3 x 120 mm). On the top there is 200mm fan. As for aluminum cases, you should look at Lian Li PC60 with 3 fans mount. But the coolest PC cases are made by Alienware. If you can afford them then it should be on the top of your choices.

Frog Design’s Hartmut Esslinger On Design in 1979

Posted by on Friday, 17 July, 2009

Hartmut Esslinger‘s Frog Design made WEGA/Sony’s electronics fetish items, and then designed the “Snow White” language the Mac used. He’s a design legend and an author. Here he tells us about the challenges of designing, then and now.

How did you shift from entertainment products to personal computers? Did you seek them out or were you pulled in? And were there others besides Apple? Was there a chance you might have ended up sharing your Snow White design language with some other company, turning a competitor of Apple into the iconic “cool computer” maker of the day?

My second client in 1970 was the German company CTM, an offspring of Nixdorf, back then a leader in making data processing affordable and usable to mid-size companies. They were quite successful and together we created the first ergonomic desktop terminal with a tilting display and detached keyboard in 1978 which won international acclaim.

Apple’s “Snow White” design language was the result of a very close relationship and collaboration with Apple, and ultimately expressed the very specific values and aspirations of Apple. The key was that Steve Jobs wanted “the very best design, not only in the computer industry but the entire World”. This allowed us to create a totally new design paradigm for “digital-convergent products” without historic precedence.

How have product considerations evolved in the same time? What was the 1979 equivalent of hardware vs. software? Or physical button vs. touch surface?

Let’s take Sony as an example: as of 1976, we were working on remote controls for multiple sources from TV to Audio-Systems and “Home-Control” with software screens, activated both by buttons and direct-touch. Even as the key problem – aside of cost – was slow processing power and LCD screens with little contrast. Our objective was to simplify usage and some products went into the market in Japan. So to your answer: we already had it in 1979.

What design trends were hot in the late 1970s that are coming back around now? Which trends from the 1970s will NEVER come back?

The late 1970s were very much defined by the shock of the oil crisis and the subsequent recession especially here in the United States. In Europe and Japan, there was a wider acceptance of energy-saving and ecologically responsible product strategies. The hot design trends were “personalization and miniaturization” – SONY’s Walkman being the best manifestation – and with the Japanese domination of electronic consumer electronics making professional-grade technology – e.g. cameras – accessible and affordable to millions. This also was a time, when the United States lost out big time in this field. The late 1970s also were the “Golden Age” of product design – and this trend will return for product experiences and hyper-convergence – which means to design how people feel.

Isn’t part of design envisioning products that use technology that doesn’t yet exist? What were the sorts of things you envisioned in the 1970s that are commonplace today but didn’t yet exist? What are you envisioning now (or what have you envisioned lately) that will take some time for technology to catch up?

This may sound a bit arrogant, but in 1968 I proposed an “Atomic-Time Radio-Wristwatch” for a watch competition. People laughed at it, but in 1986 frog designed exactly such a product for the German Junghans company.

Sometimes, technology surpasses human speed: today we are using mobile phones with more computing power then could be imagined 20 years ago – and even science fiction authors like William Gibson or Arthur C. Clarke didn’t even anticipate them – but the user interfaces are split into “old-phone-physical” and “agnostic-digital” (Apple’s iPhone succeeds because it is the first product to bridge this idiotic chasm).

Looking a the future, I think that technology and our body will grow closer together – a couple of years ago, we designed “Dattoos”, the vision of a protein-based computer “living” on human skin. Closer to reality are concepts of enhancing brain activities by electro-magnetic impulses. Already, design is expanding from “bits and atoms” to “neurons and genes” – one could call it BANG-Design.

Were there times when companies were afraid to go as far as you wanted them to? Are there any examples of companies that refused to make design improvements—perhaps because of cost—and paid a larger price for that?

Strategic design is not about “going as far as possible” but about “going the best way together”. As said above with the Apple Snow White example, the interactive relationship between client and designer is a vital element for success or failure. So, even as I may push for more advanced solutions, the client may have many reasons not to follow. At the end of a day, each jointly achieved result shall be a healthy compromise, motivated by achieving the best for the user and/or consumer. Naturally, there are some negative examples where I couldn’t convince clients, which I also describe in my book: Polaroid which stuck too long to chemical image creation, Maytag which refused to innovate in a strategic way and Motorola which missed the opportunity to create the iPhone long before Apple did.

Dr. Hartmut Esslinger, founder of Frog Design, just published a great book entitled A Fine Line, on the lessons he’s learned in his career and on the future of business informed by design. We encourage you to check it out.

Gizmodo ’79 is a week-long celebration of gadgets and geekdom 30 years ago, as the analog age gave way to the digital, and most of our favorite toys were just being born.
