Like the firm’s Force GT, Series 3 delivers data using SATA III 6Gbps connections, but uses a newfangled SandForce SF-2281 controller to shoot your info to and fro at up to 550 MBps read and 520 MBps write speeds. The SSDs also perform 85,000 IOPS, which makes the 60,000 IOPS from similarly-priced offerings from OCZ look downright dilatory in comparison. Prices are 9 for 60GB, 9 for 120GB, and 9 for the 240GB version, so they still aren’t cheap, but it’s a small price to pay to dodge the dangers of disk-based storage.

Corsair’s Flash Voyager drives have always been on the cutting edge of flash drive technology whether it comes to capacity or read & write speeds, but their new Voyager Mini drives are less about performance, and more about being tiny. Like their bigger brothers, the Voyager Minis have an ergonomic rubberized housing making them easy to grip and connect/disconnect from your PC, and instead of an easy-to-lose cap, the drives feature a retractable connector. At the moment the Voyager Minis are available in capacities ranging from 4GB (~$15) to 16GB (~$50) with a 32GB model also on the way.

Smaller then a quarter, the mini is just the right size to lose when you really need them, and come sizes ranging from 4 to 32 GB.

I actually like the Flash Voyager line, and these look interesting as well. The Mini features a retractable connector (instead of a cap that always gets lost) and is (at least physically) very small. They are available now from various retailers, with the 4GB version selling for around $20. The 16GB retails for around $50, and the 32GB doesn’t appear to be available yet. Check out Corsair’s website for more information.

The Force series will feature 100GB and 200GB models at launch, but Corsair has yet to announce their prices. However seeing as the slower and smaller Nova 128GB model retails for $369, it’s safe to assume that the new Force drives will retail well north of that price-point. We should find out shortly. The Force line is expected to be available within two weeks.
