CrunchDeals: DJ Hero (Xbox 360) for $59

Posted by on Thursday, 25 February, 2010

If the $120 price tag that initially accompanied DJ Hero as it made its way to market in late October of last year seemed a bit steep to you (and apparently, you weren’t alone) then you may be interested to hear that you can get the Xbox 360 bundle for $59 from JR.com.

The kit includes the game with “80+ DJ mixes” and the turntable controller. JR.com claims that you’re saving $100 off the previous price of $159.97, to which I suggest that JR.com should “stop frontin’.” That’s a thing, right? Frontin’? Trying to sell a $120 game at $160 is frontin’.

CrunchDeals: Left 4 Dead 2 for $28 on PC, $35 on Xbox 360

Posted by on Thursday, 21 January, 2010

l4d2 Zombies. Scary as hell, my main man. But unlike aggressive aliens with advanced technology, a war against zombies is a war that can ultimately be won. Sure, they have strength in numbers but their overall intelligence and mobility is greatly diminished due to their undead state.

In preparation for a real-life zombie attack, you can get the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2 for $28 or the Xbox 360 version for $35 – today only.

If you’re a stickler for plotlines, here’s what’s happening:

Left 4 Dead 2 is set at roughly the same time as the original – just after the outbreak that turned most of the population into various zombie mutants. Players assume the role of four new “Survivors,” each with their own personality and new dialog. The game leads these “Survivors” through the southeastern region of the US – from Savannah, Georgia through the bayou country, and climaxing in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

So there you have it.

CrunchDeals: Xbox Live Gold for $30

Posted by on Friday, 15 January, 2010

0088222489821_500X500 Walmart is selling 12-month Xbox Live Gold cards for $30. The full retail price when purchased directly from Microsoft is $50.

If you’re still chugging along with the free Silver membership, here’s what upgrading to Gold gets you:

  • Multiplayer games
  • “TrueSkill matchmaking”
  • Parties (not real-life parties)
  • Gamer feedback (vote down jerky players)
  • Netflix (you have to also have a Netflix membership)

Should the service be free? I vote for YES! But Microsoft will never listen to me. And $30 is better than $50, I guess.

CrunchDeals: Flip MinoHD camcorder for $120

Posted by on Wednesday, 16 December, 2009

31LQ7YAWO0L._SL500_AA280_ Ho ho ho, this may be the lowest price you’ll see on a new Flip MinoHD camcorder for a while. Amazon’s got them for $120, today only, down from $160. To be honest, Cisco just bought Flip and they’re expected to unveil some new products at CES (like, perhaps, Wi-Fi enabled camcorders?) so Flip might just be blowing these things out to make room for the new stuff. Either way, today you get a somewhat reasonably-priced pocket camcorder.

The Flip MinoHD features an hour of recording time, flip-out USB connector, 1280×720 resolution, 1.5-inch LCD, rechargeable battery, and tripod mount. It’s small, too. Right in your pocket it’ll go.
