No one is new to the presence of computers. With the new millennium, there was a huge boost in the use of computers and the world of IT. However, even before their popularity, computers and parts of computers started being obsolete within a small span of time. Nowadays, the solution for this is a Refurbished computer. Like a Used computer, such a computer is accessible in comparatively lower prices, thus making it hugely famous. However, the concern may be something else.
With everyone discussing about going eco-friendly these days, you would inspect even the slightest object in your home with a sarcastic eye, and consider methods of how you can make it eco-friendly. Looking at your PC you might ask yourself the similar question. The solution may not be as tough as you consider it to be. Below are some guidelines for you about how you can make your computer go green:
• The most inefficient of all parts of the PC is the monitor. The monitor consumes most of the energy used by a computer as a whole. Therefore, it is recommended not to use a screensaver. Screensavers consume as much energy as the monitor would consume when it is running. Turn your screen off for ten to fifteen minutes when you are not using it. Another better choice to conserve energy is to choose sleep mode. Your computer will on itself go to a sleep mode if it is not in use for a time that you will state.
• A monitor that is too bright does a lot more than just harming your eyes. Surprisingly, reducing the brightness of your monitor will also decrease the energy being used and also save your electricity costs.
• You should also consider saving paper. Less paper used would indicate lesser trees being cut. You can do this by choosing small and black and white prints. A colored print will not only consume a more expensive ink but also consume relatively more energy. Read and re read your document to decrease chances of errors and use both sides of paper in your rough work.
• Never dump your computers! Recycle them instead. Computers contain toxic material which can seep into the ground to mix with the ground water and may result in health risks.
• Many people also are not in the habit of turning down their computers. You should not leave it operating while you go and buy a drink from the store! Turn down your computer so that the overall power consumption of your computer is minimized. However, you should not keep on turning it on and off. Turning down your PC and switching it on over and over again will consume more energy. If you are uncertain about how long you will be gone, it is better to just turn the monitor off.
• Finally, you must unplug the computer when not in use. Even though your PC might be turned off, if it is still plugged in so it will be consuming a certain amount of energy. Even though it is hard to adapt, but the habit will save a lot of energy as you make your computers eco-friendly.
