We can’t say we were overly concerned about busting through the Vita’s 2GB monthly data threshold when the handheld’s 3G variant hits AT&T next month, but the network, it seems, isn’t taking any chances. According to the Vita’s AT&T page, Ma Bell’s making sure you’ll never be blocked from nabbing those download-capped PlayStation Minis by upping the previously announced 2GB for plan to 3GB for . Surprised? Don’t be — this change just brings Sony’s next generation handheld in-line with the network’s updated data plans. The Vita’s budget-friendly for 250MB option is still ripe for the picking, but that won’t get you far if you plan to watch Netflix on the go, will it?

Apple just got done unveiling its new iBooks 2 platform, letting us in on its plan to revamp education (in part) through its fancy new e-textbooks. These digital volumes look beautiful and come at a relatively meager monetary cost (.99), but a quick perusal of the textbooks available in iTunes reveals they’ll take a sizable chunk of your iPad’s memory. The current lineup of eight texts range in size from 800MB to 2.77GB, so folks looking to grab a full semester’s worth of materials may have to carry an extra iPad or three to get the job done. Not an ideal solution, but a few Apple slates are still easier to schlep across campus than those massive texts you’re used to, right?

Earlier this week, Nintendo announced its February 7th US release date for the Circle Pad Pro accessory exclusively through Gamestop. If you’ve caught yourself wondering about its components, the guys over at ldblog were able to get their hands on the unit that you see above. Beyond basic capacitors for the peripheral’s single AAA battery, there’s a lot of empty room inside the case — almost too much. The Circle Pad’s spacious interior leaves us wondering, could Nintendo have used this room for an extra stylus holder, or perhaps, to accommodate the beefier AA battery? The world may never know.

In the past, we never truly considered that kids might need cell phones. In reality the notion of children even having a cellphone sounded mad to us. Nowadays nonetheless , it's actually quite reasonable for kids to have cell phones of their own. Since our children take part in more and more activities after school and on the weekends we've got a greater must be able to contact them because they're away from us so often. And since they're collaborating in so many activities without us, they are exposed to more risks in the world today. With the threats of drugs, alcohol, crime and other enticements, we often feel more comfortable when we know they've got a telephone available if they should need help in getting away from bad situations.

At the same time, while we want our youngsters to have the security of a cell phone, we do not need the cost of the phone to destroy the budget. When you start looking at phones for youngsters, you will see a whole gamut of options. Of course, your youngsters will often require the latest gizmos that are decked out with all coolest features. But I am absolutely certain you know what that suggests for you.

The latest technology with the top features indicates you will spend a lot of cash on that phone and then have some extra charges for all of the features. And if you simply want your kids to have a way to get in touch with you while they're out with friends or are busy with after college activities, having the most recent phone decked out with the web and a bunch of apps isn't really obligatory. Naturally, your kids will often think differently.

All you really need when it comes to phones for kids is a basic telephone that can make and receive phone calls. And that doesn't necessarily mean that you have to put that cell telephone on an expensive calling plan. Pre-paid telephones can be a good way to get an inexpensive phone for your kids while also teaching them about the responsibilities of telephone ownership. Not to mention, it will not break your financial position. Another thing you'll need to think about; nonetheless is how much parental control you would like to have over your youngster's cell phone usage. Only some of the phones will enable you absolute control over what your kid has and hasn't got access to while using their telephones.

Some of the more dear telephones (the ones that your children really need) may supply you with the control that you need while the cheaper telephones may not really offer this. When you get the telephones that offer maximum parental control with the newest technology and programmes, your kids may think you are rewarding them with the phone, when you're truly doing it for yourself. But when you think about buying phones for kids, you'll need to establish how much you are prepared to spend and how you would like to spend it.

After a brief hiatus, that giant Gundam statue we spotted a couple years ago has once again returned home to Tokyo — though he clearly didn’t make the voyage in one piece. Rather than reconstruct the 60-foot robot in its entirety, Bandai, the company behind the Gundam franchise, has decided to scatter its limbs, weapons and machinery all over an artificial island. For about .50, anime fans and Derrida enthusiasts can view the deconstructed mecha in all its glory, sit in the palm of his hand, or even use a fixed bicycle to make his head glow. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Storm past the break for an extra pic of the exhibit.

This fearsome contraption is the handiwork of a couple of amateur DEFCON-types who reckoned that any self-respecting spy plane ought to be able to impersonate cellphone towers. And that’s exactly what the Wireless Aerial Surveillance Platform does — it tricks AT&T and T-Mobile handsets into connecting to it, then re-routes the incoming calls via VOIP so they don’t drop, while simultaneously recording all conversations to 32GB of onboard storage. It can also handle a bit of WiFi snooping on the side, thanks to a Linux-based hacking toolkit and a 340 million word dictionary for guessing passwords. What’s more, the WASP apparently achieves all of this without breaking a single FCC regulation. So, er, that’s fine then. Oh yeah, and we don’t want any of that stuffed crust nonsense, you hear?

It might look like something out of MJ’s Billie Jean, but this colorful LED array won’t be under moonwalking foot — that is, unless the party gets crunk. This colorful grid is actually a table top, brought to you by way of TI’s MSP430 microcontroller, and it knows how to get down. The table is made up of 128 frosted glass cubes, each apparently capable of emitting 16 million colors. Its creators also produced a special beat-detection software, that could very easily have your furniture outshining the bumpers and grinders at your next party. If you’re looking for a little extra something from your coffee table, you can find full build instructions at the source link below.
