Hurd Enters Pantheon of (Alleged) Tech Pickups

Posted by on Saturday, 31 December, 2011

Well, the letter that ended Mark Hurd’s tenure as CEO of HP has finally been published, and the seedy allegations of Hurd’s relationship with former Playboy model and B Movie actress Jodie Fisher are now public. Oracle says the letter was “recanted by Ms. Fisher,” who “admitted it was full of inaccuracies.” But if the pickup techniques alleged in it are true, Hurd definitely gets a spot as the coiner of a few of the top tech pickup techniques of all time.

It’s a pen! It’s a bullet! It writes upside down and underwater! It’s a bullet pen!

Posted by on Tuesday, 29 December, 2009

375-bullet-space-pen My penmanship is withered chicken scratch thanks to years of paperless endeavors, but this bullet pen looks intriguing for the two or three times each year that I need to write something down on paper.

And lest you think it’s merely a pen shaped like a bullet, let me tell you that it also writes upside down and underwater all NASA-like. It can even write on top of grease and oil. This is an extreme pen for extreme poets.

It costs $25. Not bad for a bullet pen. Forget about stuffing it in your carry-on for a little Sudoku on the airplane, though.

Lambretta launches Quadrophenia bike

Posted by on Wednesday, 30 September, 2009

Just look at this absolutely gorgeous retro-chic Lambretta. Brought to you by Fisher Outdoor Leisure, the world’s first Lambretta Bicicletta (Li126) is modelled on the Lambretta driven by Jimmy in cult film Quadrophenia and will be launched to the public at the London Cycle Show 2009 at Earls Court, 8-11 October. Every one of the 500 £599 limited edition models is individually numbered and comes with its own certificate of authenticity. Rather fittingly number 1 of this limited edition model is owned by the self-styled ‘modfather’ himself, Mr Paul Weller. Comments Fisher Outdoor CEO Richard Allmark: “We are very excited to be launching the Li126 Lambretta Bicicletta. We are huge fans of Lambretta, and as such have been faithful in our efforts to create a bicycle with style and class, that is in keeping with the brand heritage.” Though the brand is vintage, Lambretta claims the Li126 is a thoroughly modern bicycle incorporating the latest developments in bike technology and design to create a beautifully honed and high-performing ‘city cruiser’ bike. Further models in the Lambretta Bicicletta range will be announced in Spring 2010.
