LCD TV Stands- The Way To Select The Right One

Posted by on Wednesday, 12 May, 2010

Most new LCD televisions come from the factory equipped with LCD tv stands to hold the television upright on a flat surface. The LCD TV stand that you have currently may not be appropriate for the new LCD TV you are considering. These newer, and very thin LCD televisions mount nicely on the wall, although some opt for eye level viewing and place them on a stand.

The new wide screen LCD TVs will not be able to fit into an older entertainment cabinet that was made for the smaller sets. Most of these units come in a common size that will generally fit most LCD TVs. Using LCD TV stands the television can be placed on top of a flat stand or even a bedroom dresser depending on its size.

The size of the screen will determine the safest type of LCD TV stands to use with a particular model. Many of the larger screen, above 50-inches, will probably be safer on a long, slender stand instead of two small foot-shaped stands or one that swivels, allowing the screen to be turned for better viewing.

Examine the Quality of the Stand

Most LCD Flat Panel TV stands are built specifically for a particular model TV and will be able to safely keep it in place. However, when the television is installed into its stands for the first time, it is a good idea to check and make sure it does not wobble if bumped. A rug or carpet is not a great place to set up your TV, it would be much safer in a solid and stable location.

Proper care is necessary in the transporting of all LCD televsions due to the delicate nature of the glass sections contain the gas and color. The LCD TV may become inoperable if it falls off the stand. Using good LCD TV stands gives homeowners peace of mind that their TVs will not topple.

Some consumers will not need LCD TV stands if they decide to have their TV mounted on the wall. If the stand is broken, go to an authorized dealer to excange it for a new one.

LCD TV Stands- How To Decide on The Right One

Most new LCD televisions come from the factory equipped with LCD tv stands to hold the television upright on a flat surface. That LCD TV stands that come with a new LCD television are designed for use with that specific model and may not be secure enough for different television sets. One of the advantages of the thinner profile LCD televisions is being able to mount them on the wall, but many still prefer to place them on stands that put them in a more comfortable position for viewing.

Due to the wide screen format of most LCD TVs, they usually will not physically fit into a traditional television spot in an entertainment center. Most of these units come in a common size that will generally fit most LCD TVs. A chest of drawers may be used as a LCD TV stand if it is sturdy and of the right size.

The size of the screen will determine the safest type of LCD TV stands to use with a particular model. It is important that if the TV is 50 inches or more that it be placed on a stand that is big enough to handle it.

Be Sure to get a Very Stable Stand

Most LCD Flat Panel TV stands are built specifically for a particular model TV and will be able to safely keep it in place. However, when the television is installed into its stands for the first time, it is a good idea to check and make sure it does not wobble if bumped. It is recommended that this type of TV be placed on a rigid, flat surface rather than a carpeted floor where it could possible tip over.

Proper care is necessary in the transporting of all LCD televsions due to the delicate nature of the glass sections contain the gas and color. The LCD TV may become inoperable if it falls off the stand. People who require their TVs to be well secured, LCD TV stands should be used.

There are a few wall mounted flat screen TV’s where LCD TV stands are not necessarily required. In the event replacement stands have to be purchased they are best purchased from the manufacturer or authorized representative to insure the replacements hold the television as securely as they are intended.

Report: Samsung No. 1 in global flat TV market, LG now on par with Sony

Posted by on Tuesday, 23 February, 2010

What was unthinkable 10 to 20 years ago, has been reality for quite some time now: Not Japanese but Korean electronics companies are dominating the TV hardware market. American market research firm DisplaySearch says regarding shipment value, Samsung has maintained its position as the leader in the global flat-panel TV market last year. And another Korean company is becoming stronger, too.

Samsung now commands a market share of 23.3% (up 0.2 points from last year) in the flat TV segment, which – under DisplaySearch’s analysis – includes LCDs, plasmas and even OLEDs for some reason (the picture shows Samsung’s 40-inch OLED TV prototype).

And for the first time, another Korean electronics company, LG, has managed to climb up the ranking to reach the second position: With 12.4% market share, LG (+2 percentage points) is now on par with Sony (whose share fell 2.9 points). According to DisplaySearch, 2005 was the last year Sony was on top of the TV market.

The research firm says both Samsung and LG have benefited from strong price competitiveness and the weaker won. Apparently, the Korean companies were also more successful in selling LED-backlit TVs last year, an area in which the big Japanese makers (namely Sony, Panasonic and Sharp) are lagging.
