MyFord Touch Upgrade inbound, brings ‘faster, simpler, easier’ infotainment to your late-model whip

Posted by on Monday, 7 November, 2011
For better or worse, Ford owners have been basking in the overzealous infotainment ways of MyFord Touch for over a year now. Since then, the service’s been updated with amenities such as integrated Nuance voice recognition for SYNC, but now the Dearborn-based automobile monolith is taking things a few steps forward. Penned for release “early next year,” the MyFord Touch Upgrade will usher in a massive revamp across every nook and cranny of the system as a whole. Starting with the 2013 model year Flex, Taurus and Escape, drivers will be greeted by over 1,000 revised screens implementing an “improved look,” with an up to 40 percent increase in font sizes, a simpler — and more cohesive — GUI focused displaying only important info (for less clutter) and notably, doubly fast response times for touch and voice-based inputs. And oh yes, it gets even better.

Those with tablets will be pleased to know that multimedia playback will be supported via USB, while mobile phones will benefit from quicker automatic Bluetooth pairing and better echo and noise-cancellation. Ford has also baked-in voice support for sports buffs with Sirius Game Finder, as well as bibliophiles with Audible.com integration (which can also be touch controlled, should you desire it). Best of all, you’ll no longer need to recite any parenthetical or bracketed album info your music tracks may have, or the direction of street names when inputting addresses for directions. Speaking of, the TeleNav-enabled nav system will have further map detail courtesy of Navteq, with enhancements like more 3D imaging, “photorealistic” signage and better route planning thanks to “a database of historical traffic patterns.” If you’ve already got some miles on an existing MyFord Touch-enabled ride, no worries — Ford will give your system the upgrade pro bono when it’s available, taking all but a (hopefully) quick visit to your local dealer. Potential and current Ford owners will find more visuals in the gallery below and full details in the press release past break.

An Instant Peek At The Main Specs Of The HP CP1215 Printer

Posted by on Saturday, 12 March, 2011

For your home or small office printing needs, there’s the HP CP1215 printer toner cartridges printer suitable for it. This color laser printer carries an affordable price tag as it has basic features only. But the performance is something not to be overlooked, eagerly meeting your everyday color and black-and-white output requirements. It may be placed on virtually any available space you got as it comes with a compact and lightweight body.

Within it is a speedy processor of 264MHz to catch up with your day-to-day printing volume needs. As much as 8 pages a minute can be churned out for color tasks, and it takes 30 seconds for the first page to be out. Up to 12 pages a minute can be produced for your black-and-white tasks, and the first page is ejected in just a matter of 24 seconds.

However, precise printing speeds may vary depending on certain factors. Some of them include the system’s configuration and the size or complexity of the document. Meeting even your busiest document printing tasks is easy because as many as 150 media sheets can be handled by the machine at once, thanks to the standard input tray it comes with and CP1215 printer toner cartridges.

Compatible media sizes include anywhere from A4, A5, A6 to B5. This machine can also support a variety of custom media sizes, from as small as 76 x 127 millimeter to as large as 216 x 356 millimeter. Enabling you to come up with versatile printing tasks is the support for a wide variety of media types. It’s compatible to work on regular paper, glossy, photo, recycled, transparencies, labels, cards and envelopes.

Image resolutions of up to 600 x 600 dpi (dots per inch) may be sported by both color and black-and-white documents. However, you can enjoy up to 2400 x 600 dpi interpolated resolution, thanks to HP’s ImageREt (Image Resolution Enhancement technology). This innovation allows you to enjoy texts that are sharp and clean, no matter how small the font sizes get. It also maintains decent reproduction of colors.

The machine’s monthly duty cycle is set at 250000 pages. According to HP, meeting this monthly requirement allows for an optimally performing machine. ColorSphere toner cartridges come pre-installed with your purchase. However, since these are introductory versions, they can yield averagely half the performance of standard ColorSphere toner cartridges.

While there’s no memory expansion slot or support for an external hard drive available, the integrated 16MB memory is sufficient for your everyday home or small office printing needs. For duplex printing needs, the machine comes with a driver support. However, it’s only manual so the pages will have to be turned over and re-inserted into the media feeder by the operator each time for meeting two-sided printing tasks.

The HP CP1215 toner printer comes with a hi-speed USB 2.0 standard connectivity option. This machine has a compact form factor measuring 399 millimeters x 453 millimeters x 254 millimeters (W x D x H) and tips the scale at only 17.6 kilograms. Such dimension and weight make it ideal for installation anywhere in the home or small office with use of CP1215 printer toner cartridges. It’s easy to operate so more tasks can be finished with use of CP1215 printer toner cartridge. The money-saving advantage goes beyond its price tag as it helps consume energy more efficiently being Energy Star qualified.

Samsung SCX 4521 Printer – Excellent Pertaining to Dorm Use

Posted by on Saturday, 13 March, 2010

I run a very busy household. My family often relies on machines to get things done in a day. So it is no surprise that our house is filled with many technological devices. The most commonly used is perhaps our printer. It served us well whenever we need printouts of documents, maps and pictures. Inevitably, after quite some time, it started to wear out. It was then I realized I needed a new printer. This is where the Samsung SCX 4521 printer using Samsung SCX 4521 toner came in.

To be honest, I was going for a different printer brand. I changed my mind at the last minute when I saw the price of the Samsung printer. The very low price was enough reason for me to try it. The printer was designed to cater to your printing, scanning, faxing and copying needs. Its print resolution of 600 x 600 dpi complements its print speed of 20 ppm. The exterior is a clean professional look and is about 23 lbs in weight.

The Samsung printer always provides great printouts. It creates smooth and sharp characters that are proof of good quality. The quality remains even if the font sizes are close to micro. In terms of economy, my new printer beats the old one. My old printer doesn’t work well unless it has a total of four cartridges. This got really expensive as my three kids were not yet trained on conserving. In my Samsung printer, I only have to purchase one cartridge. My favorite feature is the “toner save”. It can reduce our toner usage without sacrificing quality.

Sometimes, the family gets into situations where we need a fast copy of a certain document. This often ends in vain. These situations are now avoided because of the printer’s copier feature. The process is very easy. In fact my kids are already familiar with it.

For my wife and I, the fax feature is very convenient. It allows us to send and receive faxes within the walls of our house. We no longer had to worry about driving down to any stores offering fax services. Also, we have minimized using the fax machine in our office.

It was surprising to find out that the scan feature was poor. There were just too much contrasting strips in the image. The color accuracy and resolution were also bad. My consolation was that it can produce tolerable scans of simple documents and pictures. I do this mainly to back-up the files.

I’ve noticed that there are also other things that might concern other people. There had been frequent paper jams on the machine. To fix it, I have to remove the paper slowly. Often, the Samsung printer produces a high-pitched sound that gets annoying.

Monochrome printing is this printer’s forte. Anybody who would want printouts in color might consider this a minus. But think about it, though. How often do we really need printouts in color? Overall, the Samsung SCX 4521 printer is a convenient and handy piece of equipment to have.

For the documents we need, the Samsung SCX 4521 toners performs as well as I could hope.  Each page produced by Samsung printer toner cartridge is crisp and clear.  I’ve saved additional money by ordering toner cartridge online.

Nook better watch it. One of the “surprises” at the Windows 7 keynote: a multitouch Kindle app for Windows 7 from Amazon. Ebook reading with pinch text zooming, and yes, color photos. Looks great. A full-color shot:

Okay, so now we just saw the app running on an Acer tablet. Apparently it’ll use an accelerometer to rotate pages, depending on the orientation of the tablet. It’ll work on XP and Vista too.

Elonex introduces the eBook in partnership with Borders

Elonex has teamed up with bookshop giant Borders to launch the eBook. Or the eBook 600EB to give it its full title. The partnership with Borders means that the eBook comes pre-loaded with 100 “all-time classics”. Presumably Napper Goes For Goal is one of the classics included – it is the greatest story ever told. The Borders’ e-book store has an additional 45,000 titles available to download. The eBook is only 9mm thick and weighs just 180g. It has a 6-inch e-ink screen which can display eight different font sizes. It also has an SD card slot which can support up to 4GB. Elonex sells an accessory pack for the eBook for £29 which has a 4GB card as well as a leather case. Alternatively just buy a 4GB SD card from Play.com for £6.49. Elonex states that, with a 4GB SD card in place, the eBook can hold 8,000 books. “With 8,000 books weighing the same as an elephant,” they say. “How else are you going to fit 8,000 books in your suitcase?” Quite why you’d need 8,000 books on you is open to debate though. Surely only Holly from Red Dwarf and, perhaps, Will Self have read 8,000 books. Sorry if this post came off a little unenthusiastic, it’s just that with every e-book release, the giant Kindle sized hole in the UK becomes even more apparent. The Elonex eBook will cost you £189.95 and will be available here very soon. (via T3)
