Left-Handed Games Can Have More Fun Gaming Online Too

Posted by on Wednesday, 5 January, 2011

Online games are supposed to be fun. People would avoid them if that was not true. Even though it’s fun, many people do have a tough time getting good at gaming. This is especially true when you are first starting out in the world of online gaming. The good news is that figuring out the lay of the land doesn’t have to be difficult. Naturally the right tools are helpful, for example – if you’re left-handed, then a left-handed mouse will help a lot; plus having a no-quit attitude will also help. What we want to do now is discuss a few proven tips and tricks for more victorious online gaming.

Those left handed mouses need to be given a break for a while. Take a much needed brain break from gaming once in a while. Taking good care of yourself is difficult to do if you are constantly playing video games. When you are sleep deprived or haven’t eaten in a long time, you aren’t going to play very well. Of course we all know how addicting the sheer number of worldwide MMORPG’s can be. It is imperative to give yourself and those around you a break from time to time. It is better to go back to the game feeling refreshed than to keep playing and get burned out.

An adequate net connection speed will help. Probably the hardest situation to deal with is if you’re forced to use a dial-up modem. It is hard to have fun if the computer you are using is very old or has a slow processor. So check-out the spec requirements for whatever you’ll be doing and try to get yourself there. If you are unsure about your computer’s ability (or the internet connection’s ability) to keep up, check the specs of the game. Be careful because you won’t be happy if you buy, install, and then it’s not working as it should.

When you play, have goals. Don’t let your characters get stuck, but keep them leveling up. You should strive at collecting as many valuables as you can in these games, such as trinkets, gold, rewards or whatever is awarded. Having goals in these online games keeps you focused. When you do this, the game becomes more enjoyable. The idea is to keep moving forward, as this keeps you interested in the game. If you aren’t accomplishing anything, it won’t be much fun after a while. Tracking down treasures and going on quests with end goals in mind is a lot better.

The whole point to online gaming is to have fun. Little did you know, but that is how they are designed to be – fun. Of course, if you want to have the best time possible there are some things that you need to do. For our lefty brothers and sisters – do be sure to do the shortcut thing, and please get a left-handed mouse. Don’t forget to be a humble gamer who takes advice well and treats people in a cool way. It’s all much more fun when there are no “people” issues.

Are you a left-hander and want more online gaming fun? Here’s a place for you to check out:

Quick-switch fixed-gear hub lets you have your hipster fun without the commitment

Posted by on Monday, 12 April, 2010

Lots of people think hipsters ruin everything, but really, they only ruined fixed-gear bikes. Everything else is still fine: tight pants were never really cool, those big sunglasses are clearly dumb, and the hair is pretty self-condemning. But you can’t swing a cat in Seattle without hitting some joker on a fixie, even though this city is in no way fit fixed gear bikes. They’re fun to ride, but no person of sense does any more, for fear of being mistaken for a hipster. This quick-switch hub might be the solution.

Now, there are already some switcheroo hubs out there (okay, they’re not switcheroos, they’re flip-flops) but you have to get off and dechain in order to switch between fixed and free. There’s a time to get chain grease all over your hands, but in the middle of a ride is not it.

It looks like this one will let you pop between fixed and free with just a twist of the hub. You might get some grease on your fingertips there, but no one will notice. Too bad this hub costs $270!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (!!!!) though to be fair there are much more expensive bike parts out there that aren’t as cool, and these are precision parts. Order yours at Ben’s Cycle or elsewhere if you don’t like Ben.

Math Is More Fun When You Can Hit People With It

Everything, everything is better if, in addition to whatever its primary purpose is, it can also be used to a.) hit people and b.) take naps. This calculator may do fancy stuff with numbers (also known as witchcraft), but most importantly, it’s soft and squishy. And being solar powered, it’s Earth friendly, too! Yaaayyy!

Someone really needs to hack this thing with an accelerometer so that you can throw it at people and have it actually do stuff. Like, gentle toss is add, spinning toss is subtract, and severe beatdown is multiply. Let’s get multiplyin’!

The Solar Plush Calculator is $20 from a website called Silly Dilly Tot Spot, which also happens to be a kid’s TV show on the BBC.

Coolest Websites

coolest-websites-s
We have evaluated hundreds of candidates to find the top choices for the coolest websites, many suggested by the readers, other by our friends, all discovered by the endless surfing of the Internet. The main issue was the dynamic offered by the site, which has to be based on information and entertainment at the same time. If you think we have missed some, we will gladly accept your ‘criticism’ because everybody enjoys a new site.
<-300×250 Medium Rectangle – center->
On the entertainment section we have thought considerably because you must take into consideration that there are thousands of sites all around the internet based on this. You have a variety from classical music or rock to very famous photography or collage humor or the famous favorite video logs. We picked out Drawn, Sundance Splinks, Jumpcut, Wolfgang’s Vault, Podcast Pickle, Photo Muse, The 9, Pandora and YouTube.

coolest-websites

Drawn is a collaborative blog made up for anybody that likes to draw and it was produced for sharing any form or kind of art works or resources. Do no worry if you are not an aspiring Pekar because you will enjoy all the work that is illustrated there with very warm and fun people.

The SunDance festival made up a list of very artsy sites that are very funky like and lets you create your own list of favorites because there are different styles involved here.

A project made by the International Center of Photo in New York City and from Rochester the George Eastman House that will remain sadly a work in progress is Photo Muse. It has a very good start, its goal being to get to 200, 000 images in their data base. You can even search them by photographer. It’s a very cool site and you should check it out if you are feeling artsy.

On JumpCut you can edit and upload your very interesting videos that you have captured and share it with all you friends without meddling with all the pesky CD burning or other devices used just to get your video on the computer. Of course users are strongly suggested that they are not allowed to upload files with pornographic content because otherwise they will have their account banned and the video erased form the database.

coolest-websites2

To stream live recordings from all your favorite rock bands from the 60s or the 70s: Elvis Costello, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Bob Marley, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors and many others you may use Wolfgang’s Vault. This Radio also sells vintage photographs and posters all for the fans that are dying to have something real from their favorite artists.

The Podcast Pickle is a site that has very good quality of podcasts. Last time that I checked the directory had 150000 of casts. Automatically the site will download any new feeds as they are posted by any type of source. Sportpodcast.com and Churchpodcast.com were recently launched and they are already a hit.

The most popular site to share your videos is by far, YouTube. Many times the video quality is not that good and we keep getting in to watch stupid videos, but somehow you just can’t stop to surf on it.

The 9 is a video blog that you can access in any week day morning and you will find the latest biggest and greatest stuff that can be found online. Blog posts, news stories, online discussions, movie trailers, video clips or quick accessing web sites with the song of the day or the photograph of the hour. This is a very interesting site and it is worth it to go online and search for it.

coolest-websites4

On Pandora you shall find an endless archive with a streaming radio station. You should just type in the name of your favorite band that you would rather listen and browse through all the songs that Pandora has to offer you. They are organized by albums and time table and also by their importance, because you won’t find a bad band on it.

The place to go and to create your very own blog is for sure Blogger, tools being easily used and very ok to handle with. No you can write your stories online and let your friends check them out and rate them. All the movie trailers that you want to see you can find on Apple Movie Trailers and this site for sure will make you to switch to the broadband connection. On Craigslists you can find hundreds of classified ads but they are fit just for 300 in the U.S. You will not find that much across the globe because they are just now expanding.

If you want the latest news then you should check with Drudge Report that only last year got 3.6 billion visits. Ebay is the online powerhouse of auctions, allowing users to sell and buy products from each other and interact at a business level. ‘I bought it on Ebay’ is a very known phrase already. For all you sports fans the best site for all around sports, with all the sports videos, sports news, sports data galore and sports columns is ESPN. It had only last year 5 million viewers and it keeps growing, becoming a very powerful site.

You may have a public display of all your favorite and personal photographs because Flickr is here. You can make your blog there as well, being more interactive this way with all the images that you are going to include in your posting.

Google is one of the most important and powerful search engines on the Web, having all sorts of free applications like Picasa, Calendar or its on mail, Gmail. If you want to search academic papers you could use Google Scholar or if you want financial aid you could visit Google Finance. If you are looking for something and can’t find it, ‘google it’.

coolest-websites5

Another interesting site is HowStuffWorks, having easy explanations about many things that work to hybrid cars to a human kidney. If you want to know it all but you are tired of all the books and charters or pompous explanations, then this is the site for you.

These are our top picks for the coolest websites.

Condition Your Kids For Space Travel With Spaceball

By Chris Scott Barr

When I was a kid, we had one of those giant trampolines in our back yard. Looking back I’m almost amazed at how entertained I was by the simple act of jumping up and down for a few hours. Granted, it was more fun with two people, because then you could bounce higher. However, someone has gone and attempted to make trampolines even more fun than they already are. Not only is Spaceball supposed to be fun, apparently it’s also good conditioning for space travel.

That last statement comes from Scott Carpenter, one of NASA’s Mercury Seven astronauts. I’m guessing it probably applies to most trampolines, but I digress. Spaceball is a game played by two people (under 200lbs each) and you appear to throw a ball through a small tunnel at the other person. I’m sure it could be fun, until the ball gets knocked into the yard, which it will. Over and over. The game is pretty expensive too, ringing in at $700. Honestly, I think it might sell better if they changed the name to “Spaceballs the Trampoline Game.”

Side Note: Props to whoever did the awesome Photoshop job on those kids. Nothing says “no one wants to use our product” quite like having to paste people into the picture.
