US iPod accessories company Griffin Technology has announced what it claims is the first-available FM transmitter with an iPhone/Touch application for additional control. Users connect the iTrip to their iPhone or iPod Touch running iPhone OS 3.0, open the app, and are greeted with a large display showing tuning controls and a SmartScan button. Three preset options are present and programmable, and a settings screen allows for adjustment of SmartSound EQ and mono/stereo broadcast modes. Says Paul Griffin, creator of iTrip, founder and CEO of Griffin Technology: “iTrip has defined the iPod accessory industry since its release seven years ago. Now with app integration, iTrip represents the latest FM transmitter technologies and best user interface available anywhere.” The iTrip is available at Apple Stores from October for £39.99. iTrip Controller is now available as a free download from the iTunes App store.
