Ideal places to have a wedding

Posted by on Tuesday, 27 October, 2009

For most people the wedding day is going to be the biggest thing to happen in their life. For quite a few people they will be spending thousands of dollars. Some people even travel outside of their cities to other locations.  One of the best places to have a wedding is in San Diego.  Let’s take a look at a couple of reasons.

When couples start to plan out their wedding, the location is a major decision. For couples that can afford it having the wedding at a different city is a very exciting option.San Diego is one city that always come to mind because of some reasons.  Now of course this is going to come from first hand experience working with a lot of couples as a San Diego wedding photographer. So my experience offers tremendous insight.

One of the major reasons is the weather.  Most weddings are done in the summer. Well in the summer most places are going to be very hot. One of those locations that is comfortable is San Diego. The weather is really not that bad on the coast. This is another big reason because of the photography.  As a San Diego photographer I appreciate good weather. It gives the opportunity for great photos to be taken. It gives you an environment that is a great shooting arangement. Where all the people in the wedding won’t be uncomfortable because of the heat.

Another reason to consider is San Diego is really a great location for events. It has a bunch of different hotels for all your guests to stay in.It has a bunch of things to do so if your guests want they can have a mini vacation. Doing San Diego event photography has allowed me to see how this works out beautifully.Always remember that weddings are usually big eventsSo the work that you perform is really a form of event photography.San Diego is a great destination for this.

Hopefully these couple of insights will allow you to make a better decision when choosing your wedding location.

One special part of a wedding is the photgrapher

A big part of anybody’s life is the wedding day.It is usually thought of as the most special day for wives-to-be.But do not forget that is also a very special day for the groom. That day is special due to a lot of things.  One overlooked part that can make that day special is the photographer.

Their part can make that day special is huge.  I know for a fact from my first hand experience as a San Diego wedding photographer.Because the main reason why the photographer is there is to chronicle the event.  All those special moments must be caught on film.  The photos are going to be what brings that day back to life. And only a photograph can capture those moments in time.

What other things can a photographer contribute?Turning that day like a story is what they can contribute to the would-be couple’s very special day.  A well thought out photo shoot can make a wedding album come alive.Photos that are perfectly taken at the right place and at the right time would turn a photo album into a story with each page telling a piece of the story of two loving couples.Good shots will be able relive the events to a person who wasn’t at that special day.  So with that in mind you need a San Diego photographer who can really accomplish that type of job.  But you also have to realize that is what you want.Anyone can use a camera but not all have the expertise in finding a good shot.  But you want a photographer with an artistic flair as well.

Making it an event is the final thing a photographer can do.  In my photography practice my work is called event photography, because all occassions should be captured as an event, and a good event photography San Diego service should be able to do that.  Not just simple shots. But shots that seems to be bigger than life.

Hopefully you would realize the important role of a good photographer during that special day.A good photographer who can contribute to your special day is the one who you should pick.Who can make that day unforgettable not just for the couple but also for all those who attended the event. Because that day should be a very special day when you look back at it.

5 Great tips from a San Diego Photographer

Posted by on Monday, 15 June, 2009

Being asked to take photos for a wedding is a huge responsibility. If you’ve been approached to do it as a friend, or maybe asked to do it as a professional, here are 5 great tips to do the job right.

This tips are coming from first hand experience as a San Diego wedding photographer. It doesn’t matter if you are a seasoned pro, or if you are an amateur, by following these tips, you won’t second guess yourself.  You will be fully prepared for whatever may come.

Our first tip is easy and that is to have the couple and maybe their families make a list of photos they want to take. When you know the day will be hectic and chaotic, doing this will help you get the family and group shots later on in the day more smoothly.Imagine how wonderful it will be to just go down your list and know that you aren’t leaving anything out.

The second tip on our list is to not delete any shots.  In this day and age of digital cameras, most photographers use them.  Great as they are, they also are tempting to delete a shot since it is so easy to do.Don’t bother even peeking at the previews.  What makes a great shot in your mind could differ widely that what makes a great shot in the couples minds.  And who knows, they might appreciate the so called un “professional” shots.

A third tip to consider is making sure you get candid shots.  A good wedding photographer will not just try and get the typical shots, like family group shots, wedding party shots, or your standard bride and groom.  But they will also try and capture the emotions of the day through the shots of all the people that were there. It could include things that don’t go perfectly, like a flower girl not wanting to walk down the aisle or the ring bearer making a wrong turn.Every photo matters.

The fourth one to consider, and something that can easily be overlooked is to make sure you have several cameras with several lenses as backup.Do you even want to think of the horror of not being able to take any more shots of the wedding because of a broken camera.  Plan for anything that could go wrong.By being ready with extra equipment, you will avoid the uncomfortable time of not being able to take any more pictures of the wedding day with a broken camera.

Finally, practice your lighting as well. The difference between the lighting in the church and the outside reception can throw you a curve ball, so just practice for all different lighting situations. Go see the locations and scout it out for the big day, by finding the best places to shoot as well as studying the lighting needs.

Doing these 5 tips will help you immensely.  It will prepare you for whatever might go wrong, it will prepare you for capturing what goes right, and it will prepare you to help contribute to this wonderful day by being the best photographer you can be.  Take it from my years of experience as a San Diego photographer.

Get the Best Photographer for the Job

Looking for a photographer for a special day?  Well my experience being a San Diego Photographer has given me some insight on how to make the best choice for that special occasion.  So don’t even think about popping open the yellow pages and picking any old photographer that you find.  Take it from my experience and follow these steps on choosing a good photographer.

Many people want to remember special memories with pictures so it is very important that you do research on your photographer, especially if it is a wedding, I know from first hand experience as a San Diego Wedding Photographer.  Start with friends and family.  See if they have any photographers that they would recommend to you.  This way you can start building your list of possible photographers.

After you have gathered that list from friends and family, you should see if they have a website and take a look at it.  Look at some of the work that they have done in the past.  Look to see if it is the type of shots and the style you want your pictures to be like.  If the photographers you have listed have their portfolios online, it will save you a lot of time because then you can narrow your list down even more by what you see.

Third, start to call up the photographers and conduct a phone interview.  Once you have narrowed your list of photographers down to about two or three you can call them up and begin your interviewing process.  You can then make an appointment to meet with the photographer and view their portfolios if you have not already viewed it online.  During these phone interviews it is important to ask questions.  The more specific you are with your question the better understanding you will get as to whether or not the photographer is the one you are looking for.  While on the phone you should ask the photographer to bring in his collection of coverage of one particular event so that you will know exactly what to expect from that photographer.

After you have completed the final steps of this process of narrowing down the field.  After you have gone through your interview process, it is time to pull the trigger and make a choice.  The factors you want to base your decision upon will be, does this person know what you want for that special day?  In other words, do they know your vision?  Also you want to make sure it is a person you like.  Getting along with a photographer for that special day is something not to be taken lightly.  You want it someone you match with personality wise, because the last thing you need is to have a stressful day.  If they meet your criteria, go ahead and choose one.

Completing all these steps will be huge in helping ensure that you find the right person for the job.  Doing this simple process will help you determine a couple of very important things.  It will allow you to get to know your photographer more than any other method.  This is important because it will allow you to know if this person has the style and the vision you are looking for on your special day.  And most importantly you will have a piece of mind that you will not have found any other way in regards to knowing if you have found the right person.  On special days, the last thing you need to stress over is the photographer.
