BlackBerry sucks at making fan videos

Posted by on Friday, 19 August, 2011

Wow! BlackBerry just released, and subsequently pulled, an awesome new video (which can be seen in full after the break) showing off its new Torch running BB 7 OS and sporting… an Android home button?! Man, that new Torch looks so awesome, particularly 15 and 27 seconds in, it hardly even looks like a BlackBerry at all.

iPod touch prototype with capacitive home button leaked?

Posted by on Tuesday, 5 April, 2011

Ah, would you look at that. Earlier this year there were rumors about Apple ditching the physical home button on upcoming iOS devices, and now we have what appears to be a new iPod touch prototype matching such description, courtesy of CrunchGear via Mr. Blurrycam. According to its About screen, this “DVT-1″ (a late milestone) device packs 128GB of memory — twice as much as the largest available capacity option right now (remember that 64GB iPhone 4 prototype in Hong Kong?) — as well as a model number “MC550LL” which isn’t far off from those of the fourth-gen iPod touches (“MC54xLL”), though this similarity doesn’t help prove its authenticity nor indicate whether it’ll make it to the market. Still, if Apple does go ahead with this grubby device or at least its capacitive home button, we might see new gesture controls for the bezel area below the screen à la webOS, as suggested by an earlier patent. But hey, let’s not take this too seriously for now — all this could turn out to be just a much belated April Fools’ prank, right?

New Cell Phones

Posted by on Tuesday, 13 April, 2010

When it comes to new cell phones, there are a lot of models that we could present, but there is one special mobile phone that deserves its own article and our full attention. The HTC HD2 is one of those new cell phones that people have been craving for ever since they heard it comes with a 4.3 inch display which is touch sensitive and a 1 GHz processor combines with a beautiful 5 megapixel camera. This cell phone can be purchased at a price of $200 via T-Mobile.

With 4.74 x 2.64 x 0.43 inches in dimensions and 5.54 ounces in weight, this smart phone is one very elegant choice when you are looking for a device which makes you look unique. It is true that the device is pretty big, but once we move on to the features chapter, I’m sure that size will not matter that much anymore.

The screen is the most important and the greatest feature of this cell phone yet. It comes with a 480 x 800 pixels resolution and it is simply something else. The colors are sharp, beautiful and vibrating and everything from reading text messages to viewing photos and surfing the internet is going to be a great experience. Since the display is bigger, this makes the keyboard automatically bigger as well. The Swipe feature is great because it offers the possibility to drag your finger from one letter to another when you are writing text instead of lifting your finger to press each key individually.

On the bottom side of this cell phone you can spot a headphone jack and a micro USB port. Under the display there is a set of useful buttons: the Talk and End ones, the Home button, the back button and the Start Menu shortcut. Behind the battery door was the spot chosen for the microSD expansion slot. Inside the package, you are going to receive goodies like a 16 GB microSD card which comes with the “Transformers” movie preloaded, a wired stereo headset, the user manual plus a charger.  T-Mobile has installed a lot of multimedia applications which are cool to find in your new cell phone. The HD is also the very first handset which supports the Blockbuster On Demand video download application. This means that you can preview and then download the movies you like.

The 5 megapixel camera comes with dual LED flash plus autofocus and editing options. As you can imagine, at 5 MP, the quality of the image was nothing but good and the sharpness of the pictures taken is probably the most amazing aspect of all. Battery life is always a very important aspect for a mobile phone which is supposed not to let you down in your moments of great need. This being said, we can tell you that the 1230mAh lithium ion battery that comes with the cell phone will manage to keep it on for 6 hours of conversation and 20 days when in standby mode.
