Big props goes out to Joe W. for almost correctly guessing the total storage capacity of the CrunchGear staff. His guess of 38.5TB nets him a brand new HP MediaSmart EX495 server. Congrats. Click through to see the total capacity broken down by writer.
In no particular order,
For a grand total of 38.6TB, which isn’t that much actually. It will probably be double next year at this time
You better act quick. This deal ends today. But if you really need a smaller WHS for, lets say, backup purchases only, the HP MediaSmart LX195 is perfect and Newegg has it on sale just for you.
For only $199, you can get a 640GB HP MediaSmart LX195 server. Sure, the hard drive is little on the small side, but it’s easy enough to upgrade. You can either swap out the hard drive later or plug in an external hard drive for more storage. Windows Home Server makes it easy to add even an external drive to the cluster.
For $199, it even could make a great gift to some technology-fluent parents. The backup and restore feature would be worth it alone. But act fast, the sale ends today.
This is nice. HP is letting me give away a brand new EX495 MediaSmart Sever to go along with my review. To win the 1.5TB Windows Home Server server, you’re going to have to play a little game. Don’t worry, it’s easy. No scavenger hunt this time.
All you need to do is guess the total storage capacity of the CrunchGear staff. There’s seven of us, and we’re counting hard drives and flash drives. This includes game console and DVR hard drives, but not blank media like CD-Rs and DVD-Rs.
Don’t read to much into this. We’re estimating too, but I can tell you the answer is north of 10TB. Simply place your best guess in the comments below. Any questions can be directed to contest AT crunchgear DOT com.

Update: 75.164.73.17, you’re out. You guys think we don’t check?
Amazon has a pretty solid deal on an HP MediaSmart Home Server. Found elsewhere for over $550, you can get your hands on it for $450 until September 3rd. It was briefly priced at $419.99 direct from HP but that deal has expired and it’s now $600.
The HP EX485 features a 2GHz Intel Celeron CPU (64-bit), a single 750GB SATA hard drive at 7,200 RPM, and four total hard drive bays for up to 9TB of storage. If that’s not enough space for you, there are four USB ports and an eSATA port that’ll allow you to hook up external hard drives as well.
