Inspired By Nature

Posted by on Thursday, 4 November, 2010

As a child, this female artist loved to draw horses almost as much as she loved riding them. What her career involves is painting horses and other subjects of the natural world and this is all thanks to her early training and many years of experience as an artist. From her pastel and watercolor paintings comes about images of horses, reindeer, hens, and of course, dogs.

She and her family moved to the present county from Philadelphia when she was 11. Just like her mother and sister, her father who was a commercial artist painted as a hobby. When it comes to drawing, her father says that this is real important to an artist. You can say that these are evident details based on the structure of the animals she paints. To get a better understanding of portrait artist website, visit their website.

Oftentimes, she paints animals and her love for art expanded to using dogs and cats as subjects. Also in the artist and her husband’s present home other than two dogs is a cat. Another thing she engages in is painting pets for private commissions.

Distinctly standing out in her paintings is light may it be the bright white of daylight or the darker amber hues of evening. In terms of having a sense of light, this is what she finds important in her paintings. You can associate her use of watercolor with this. When it comes to watercolor, what she has is a series of transparent washes going over paper. You can see the white paper attractively glowing through the paint. Using oil paint means creating light in another fashion. Revealing light is a matter of painting everything around it.

Watercolors force the artist to think in reverse, to paint around the white. It is necessary for artists using oil to first paint in the dark shadow and then add the light. In her career, the artist would like to take on the challenge of luminosity in oil paintings at some point. What she wants is some time spent for painting in oil as she loves the impressionists. For resources on portrait painting photo check out this site.

From the former town, what inspires her today is her move to the present location at the countryside. What she takes are photographs of old farmhouses and landscapes in the foothills as she explores the back roads. What she is concerned about is the tearing down of the old farmhouses. In order to acknowledge and protect the old houses, she urgently finds the need to paint them. For her, the historic architecture is really something to adore.

This is one artist who is also passionate about still life paintings. Texture and detail are subtly suggested, rather than painted in a realistic, photographic style. Her paintings of pets usually focus as much on the animal’s facial expressions as on the detail. What she attended was a known school of art and the Maryland institute college of art in Baltimore as well. She was 25 when she began painting professionally but for much of her career she worked as a nurse. She established her credentials as a painter through the ensuing years especially in areas covering florals, architectural subjects, portraits, and pets. Every week, she works one day as a nurse.
