Different Charity Donations

Posted by on Wednesday, 7 July, 2010

The high number of charity donations in the States shows that it is actually a sizeable, and much needed business. Even though charities are generally non-profit organizations, there can be a lot of money, sometimes in the millions, that is processed through different centers. Money is not the only way that one can make a donation, of course. There are different options and part of the promotions that charities conduct will let you know just what you can do to make a donation.

The most common form of a charity donation is by giving an organization a sum of money. How much you donate is completely up to you, of course, though there may be certain restrictions depending on the organization. It is easy enough to write a check, provided you have the funds, and so giving money is a popular and common choice. Especially for those who are not so interested in how the money will be used, a cash donation eliminates a lot of time and procedures that are typically involved with other donations.

Not everyone has the funds to make sizable charity donations, or they may feel that writing out a check just doesn’t have the same sense of helping someone out as giving an item of value does. As a result, there are many car donation charities out there that will gladly accept your used vehicle and either make it available for a family that needs it, or it will be sold for the cash that it can garner.

Many people would like to make a charity donation that is sizeable in value, but unfortunately they just don’t have the funds. In those situations, people will often satisfy their urge to help others by making a donation of items. Children’s toys, tools, books, clothes and many other common household goods are often given away to people who have a dire need for them. Even families with low incomes are bound to have items in their homes that they no longer need and can donate to a worthy cause.

So, charity donations come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. It doesn’t really matter if the only reason why we give to charities is for the tax breaks that usually occur. The important part is that those who are in need receive extra assistance. It also doesn’t matter whether the assistance is in the form of cash, cars or household items that are still useable. Caring and the sharing of wealth is an important part of living in a civilized nation.

How Will Society Vote For Technological Advancement?

Posted by on Tuesday, 4 May, 2010

There is such a strong push in our society to have some of the greatest and best technological toys that it seems very few people are bothering to turn and look at what all of this technology could do to us. We live through our PDA and cell phone while we are quick to jump in complaining about the lack of the personal touch if we feel we don’t get enough attention.

We want our banking and even our incomes to be fully automated by we whine about how our physicians only spend five minutes with us and don’t give us the personal touch anymore. We want our cars to be smarter than we are but we want to complain that people talk too loudly in public on the cell phones.

While we think the 50 inch plasma TV is really quite cool we haven’t yet figured out how to make it energy wise. We are hesitant to hand out directions to strangers for fear of talking to them and yet we live with our Bluetooth GPS system right at our side. We want the gift of an internet business income without the requirement of putting forth actual effort and energy.

It’s a wonder that we weren’t here earlier in the game. Yet now that technology has become such a huge aspect in our daily life, more people are starting to sit up and wonder what’s coming next.

Will we wait until so many jobs are lost to robotics that the hunger and poverty starts to spread into affluent neighborhoods? Are we able to successfully combine our thirst for more technology with the very much needed human element?

For every meal unnecessarily interrupted by a cell phone and every family member that we put off in exchange for another hour on the computer the more we give our lives over to our great advancements. Yet when we turn the cell off and shut off the computer early and go for a walk we take back pieces of ourselves.

Yes, technology has been an improvement and many loves have been positively touched due to our progress. As a society we will all determine our future dependence on technology and its role in our world. Our actions over the next few years will determine whether the jobless count rises thanks to improved technology or if we learn to turn off our cell phones for a nice family meal.
