convert WMV to MP4

Let’s speak about the newest excessive-tech products. I always hope that this could fire up a bit of gray matter creativity with all info marketers out there to assist get some new info merchandise made:

The “iPad:” I’m positive a buddy of mine talked about the “iPad” to me sometime previously, but I didn’t see one till the other day on the subway. A younger, hip-looking fellow got here on, sat down, slapped on his earphones, and, inside a couple of seconds of touching a display pad he had on his knees, he was grooving alongside to some music. That was the “iPad,” I thought. Later, a colleague showed me his. It’s like the “iPod Touch,” however bigger. You may view videos, access an entire roster of features, and carry a display screen round anywhere. It is pretty cool and new, and customers want as much data on it as possible. If you’ve acquired one, get out some data on it.

GPS: Some of my aunts got back from a holiday recently. They did not alongside the whole time. Why? One individual could not get the GPS to work. They argued, obtained misplaced, and every little thing went sour as a result. Proper there, you may imagine how much GPS information is needed, not only to seek out your approach but additionally to stop fights! GPS, or World Positioning System, was once considered a government, sneak-and-peak mechanism. Nowadays, vehicles are being built with them in the console to assist direct individuals to their destinations. It is like having “Google Maps” proper in your car. But again, some people are a little scared of how to use them. They want an data marketer to tell them how to decide on one, how they work, and how they are going to change the home partner scene. Obtained the products on GPS? Get going now!

Smartphones: What number of of you’ve got a land line left? Probably not as many as even a couple of years ago. Youngsters, grandparents, and even farmers are sporting pocket cellular gadgets regularly. The reality is that these gizmos will not be only for the stockbroker or undercover agent anymore. They’re useful to individuals who have children or people who are touring in a snow storm. They’re compact, effectively-designed, and have capabilities galore. But they are changing, too, both in know-how and the provision to the public, i.e. “iPhone” and “BlackBerry” units being supplied by corporations other than their mother or father companies. Are you a cellular guru? Bought an eye on the right way to make communication better and/or what’s on the horizon? The general public wants info, so get working to offer it. You’ll be rewarded for it.

Inexperienced expertise: For those who thought that environmentally acutely aware know-how is out of style, suppose again. More individuals than ever are interested by hybrid vehicles, inexperienced house variations, and photo cell technology. Perhaps it is an ingrained concern, or possibly it is people who actually need a bright future for his or her youngsters on this planet they reside in. Both way, expertise will help with that. You is perhaps on the cusp of it your self, and your info could go a long way with the overall public.

There’s extra to this checklist, and I am going to seemingly write extra on it later. But attempt these for now. Know-how is loopy, no question about it. It’s enjoyable and useful, but in addition really confusing. A really sturdy info marketer can both take away that confusion and become profitable to the public via educating others on easy methods to use this stuff. And that somebody could be you.

10 Years of iPod Ads: From Techie to Sassy

Posted by on Saturday, 29 October, 2011

You?re at a party. It?s lame. There?s a laptop in the corner running iTunes, and people are taking turns DJing to try to liven up the crowd. Unfortunately, the guy with the fingerless gloves is hogging the computer, and his circa-1994 drum and bass jams are failing. Somebody sneaks in when?Guy isn?t looking and cues up a track you instantly recognize. Its steady pulse seems scientifically calibrated to produce good vibes, which it very well may have been. You find yourself bending your knees to the beat. The chorus kicks in and all bets are off. Everybody?s on the floor. The party has started. The next morning, you?re wondering, ?What was that song, and why did everybody know it?? Simple: It was in an iPod commercial ? an honor that has propelled many an indie band into the mainstream and cemented the iconic status of artists who were already getting attention.

Google plans to open Hangouts for interoperability

Posted by on Tuesday, 5 July, 2011

Hangouts, the group video chat component of Google Plus that everyone’s been raving about, could eventually be usable with other video chat clients and services as well. Google Real-time Communications Tech Lead Justin Uberti wrote this weekend on his blog that the company plans to publish the specifications necessary to interoperate with Hangouts.

Opening up Hangouts could be a boon for developers of smaller third-party apps and possibly even kick-start the development of mobile clients (the feature is currently only usable from the desktop), but bigger competitors can’t be happy about this idea.

Om wrote last week, “Skype Video can easily be brought to its knees by Google Plus’ Hangout,” and it’s easy to see why: Skype users not only need a dedicated application, but also a subscription plan to use the service for group video chat. Hangouts, on the other hand, is a free service, and Google is working on making it run in many browsers without the need for any additional downloads. Add in the ability to connect with third-party apps, and Skype could really be in trouble.

Google’s plans to release the specs for Hangouts also tells us a bit about the way the company is looking at the various components of its new social offering. In the short term, Hangouts could well be the killer feature that gets people to sign up for Google Plus. But down the line, Google hopes to make the way it organizes your social graph the reason you use Hangouts. At that point, it will only make sense to empower third-party developers as well. Think of it as the way Twitter used its service to attract users first, and then opened the graph to third parties, and you get a picture of where things could be going for Google Plus.

Uberti also shared a bit more information about the technology behind Hangouts on his blog:

“At a high level, it’s based on XMPP MUC (XEP-0045) and Jingle (XEP-0166/167), with some other enhancements needed to handle our architecture.”

He also revealed that Hangouts was in part built by the people who came to Google after the company acquired the video conferencing provider Marratech in 2007.

Facebook reportedly taking Skype relationship further with video chat

Posted by on Saturday, 2 July, 2011

Though Facebook was ultimately not in the mix to buy Skype, the relationship is still going strong and will reportedly result in Skype’s video chat service finally coming to Facebook next week. TechCrunch reports  that Facebook’s “awesome” announcement July 6 will include word that desktop Facebook users will be able to conduct video calls via Skype.

The details are little hazy about how it all comes together and whether Facebook users will need to download the Skype client for the computer, but TechCrunch said it will be an in-browser experience for users. If true, it makes a lot of sense and is something we’ve talked about before during speculation about a potential acquisition or partnership.

Facebook has been growing as a communications service, with its unified inbox and its instant messaging service. And it has been looking to branch out with its purchase of messaging app Beluga and its commenting plugin. Integrating Skype will allow it to take the next step in interaction, which is increasingly turning to video chat. Apple has helped accelerate video chat with its FaceTime technology, and now video conferencing is becoming a crowded market.

By getting on board with Skype, Facebook can also blunt some of the advances of Google+, which has a slick group video chat feature called Hangouts. Om remarked at the Google+ launch that Hangouts could bring Skype to its knees. Combining with Facebook could help avoid that fate. It’s unclear if Skype on Facebook would include free group video chats, which is a premium feature on Skype, but it could easily be an option. Skype service could also be a big boost for Facebook’s mobile app if the service is eventually integrated.

Video chat integration would further strengthen Skype and Facebook’s relationship. Skype has added Facebook integration into its software, allowing people to instant message, tap their Facebook contacts and “like” or comment on a friend’s Facebook status. That allowed Facebook to appeal to Skype’s base, which currently numbers 170 million connected users. By getting onto Facebook’s platform and reaching its more than 700 million users, Skype can further realize its larger ambitions to be on all screens, from mobile to TV sets.

Together, they can keep users from spending time on other sites and services. This becomes more important with competition from Google, which has the potential to tie up more user time with Google+ in combination with its existing properties. With Skype now a Microsoft property, there’s additional logic to a partnership with Facebook, which Microsoft has a small stake in. Together, all three are better positioned to contain Google as it continues to grow.

We still have to see if this pans out, but again, this seems like a logical and expected step. By bringing Skype into Facebook, it lets both get what they want. And it shows that Facebook didn’t have to buy Skype to get what it needs.

Designing Computer Workstations to Function With Posture Preference

Posted by on Sunday, 1 May, 2011

Almost everything we do in today’s world involves the use of a computer. Work, school and at home we’re in front of a computer. People who work on computers tend to spend the most time on the computer with upwards of 12 hours a day sitting at a computer desk and then possibly more when you get home! Sitting in the same posture for the entire day seems almost impossible for most, so a constant posture change is required simply to stay focused and produce good work.

Having an understanding of how customers use product gives manufacturers of computer workstations a huge advantage. Five postures you will likely see in any workplace environment are described in detail below. Design and advertising of computer workstations can become more informed and better executed through the information listed below.

Posture #1 – Reclined sitting. In the reclined sitting posture, the user’s torso and neck recline between 105 and 120 degrees away from vertical. The user’s weight is transferred to the back which can be comfortable for a long while but can become uncomfortable for people with back problems. When sitting reclined it is advisable to use a foot rest to relieve pressure on the underside of the thighs, (in the popliteal fold) behind the knees. For those users who are required to sit this way there should be ultimate adjustability at all the contact points; tilt, height, armrests, lumbar and headrest.

Posture #2 – Upright sitting. Using upright sitting forces the user to sit in a mostly vertical position with torso, neck and legs all vertical or horizontal. Those whose feet do not touch the floor would find a footrest useful. Back pain sufferers find this the most comfortable position to stay seated in. A full range of adjustability is important as it allows each user to gain maximum benefits.

Position # 3 – Declined sitting. In the declined sitting posture, the user’s thighs are inclined below the horizontal, the torso is vertical and the angle between the thighs and the torso is greater than 90 degrees. This arrangement is more conducive to getting up frequently and attending to other activities around the office or home.

Posture #4 – Standing. When standing, the entire body is in vertical alignment. Normally, when a standing workstation is in use, the user needs to move and change posture frequently. An optimal range of motion is necessary with any of the adjustable standing workstations available today. Some of the better equipped stations are connected directly to power which makes adjusting much easier.

Posture #5 – Sit/Stand. Upright workstations are for those who sometimes like to work standing, and sometimes sitting. The design has been mastered by many, but those that have failed the design failed because they simply mounted a low chair onto a tall stem. The design should always allow the user to get on and off with ease.

The five postures are intended to illustrate the diversity of body positions used by computer users at home or at the office. Based on the variety of possible postures for individuals to use throughout the day, it’s important that manufacturers are creating workstations that can accommodate all five postures. Unfortunately, many of today’s products are homogenously designed around the upright sit posture without consideration of the variety of postures that are being used. Not all postures are equally comfortable or productive and should be accommodated by a wide variety of workstations to meet their specific needs and posture preference.
