With point and shoot cameras apparently now up against a megapixel wall, manufacturers are focusing on adding quirky new features to keep you hooked on the upgrade cycle. Sony’s new Cyber-shot TX55 includes several such additions, such as ‘amazing’ 3D image capture, ‘extremely low’ noise, and a new digital zoom technology called By Pixel Super Resolution, which promises to double the camera’s 5x optical zoom range while still capturing 16.2-megapixel images at full quality. We’re a bit skeptical about that last one, but if the 0 camera really can deliver on its promise, then we may just have a winner. Sony says there’s also high-speed autofocus that can lock onto subjects in 0.1 seconds, optical image stabilization, a 3.3-inch OLED touch-screen, and 1080i AVCHD video. It also includes some features found on the higher-end NEX-C3, such as Picture Effects, and a 42.9-megapixel Sweep Panorama mode. Sony has yet to completely nix the Memory Stick slot, including one with the TX55, though there’s also MicroSD support for those who prefer to take advantage of that more affordable memory card standard. We’re not yet convinced that all of the point-and-shoot cam’s new features perform as well as Sony suggests, but if they do, the TX55 may even be worth its 0 price tag when it hits stores in September.

In starting your individual business, his also means that you must plan for your workplace. And get yourself ready for your workplace also includes buying the necessary devices that you’ll often use. This includes a photocopy machine, a fax machine, a printer, a scanner, and lastly, a pc. A lot, right? Well, obviously not the case. Nowadays, you don’t have to buy a photocopy machine, a fax machine, a scanner and a printer individually. You need to simply buy an all in one printer, and a computer plus your office can have the many devices that it needs already.

All in one printer is simply merely a printer which could also perform the tasks that every the opposite mentioned machines perform. Meaning, it might print documents, fax them, photocopy them and even scan them. Company, I will be just talking about one device – the all in one printer.

So, how can you pick the best office printer for your new office? As you will probably be using these devices for your business, it must be very efficient. Also, unlike those who bring personal purposes, your all in one office printer will definitely be used and a good performance from it is important. Therefore, in choosing your workplace printer, you need high standards. Follow this advice:

1. The AIO in the printer has to be simple and fast to install plus it must be compatible for a PC or laptop. Furthermore, the AIO must be compatible to numerous kinds of computers in lieu of just one single specific computer.

2. It should be capable of print documents photos rich in quality in a fast manner.

3. The all in one printer should have an attribute which will enable it to automatically feed documents for scanning, faxing, and photocopying purposes. This feature is termed automatic document feeder (ADF) feature.

4. The scanned documents and/or pictures must be in high quality.

5. It should be capable of store receivable faxed documents by way of a USB or even a memory stick. In this way, documents are not lost if you will end up out paper.

6. It should be capable of work during wireless connection.

7. It should be capable of automatically turn papers for duplex scanning, photocopying or faxing purposes.

8. It should be cost effective.

Though don’t assume all all in one printers have these capabilities, whatever you choose should have many of them. There are lots of models and brands available for sale, and that means you just need to do a little research on what of them have these capabilities.

Flash memory and memory cards are everywhere now. They are used in small, portable memory drives known as pen drives, flash drives and several other names. They are also found in most of the mobile phones, smart phones and cameras.

They are small memory cards that can store a large number of pictures, videos, music files or documents. These memory cards are often accessed on your home computer by a USB flash reader, or a compact flash reader. Both these devices let you to just plug in your flash drive and the contents will be accessible on your PC.

Both USB flash readers and all types of compact flash readers are available at any electronics shop and generally sell for anywhere between $10 and $40. Compact flash readers are usually stand alone units which plug into your PC through a USB port. USB flash readers are identical devices and may possess their own USB port for you to use for your USB ready devices.

Compact flash readers and USB flash readers are manufactured by popular technology brands, but are quite simple devices to operate. Most of the compact flash readers or USB flash readers that you would see in a common store are plug-and-play ready, indicating you can remove them from the box, plug them into your PC and you will be ready to use the gadget normally.

Most compact flash readers and USB flash readers are able to permit between 2-6 devices simultaneously, for instance a memory stick from a video camera, a flash drive, a mobile phone memory card and a music instrument such as an iPod or possibly MP3 player. Compact flash readers and USB flash drives are a necessity in today’s universe, crowded as it is with flash memory devices. Either a compact flash reader or an USB flash reader will make your life in the digital age quicker.

Say you’re going on a picnic and don’t want to bring a huge bulky pocket knife. What would you bring? Maybe a knife, a bottle opener, and a corkscrew. Or say you’re planning on dismembering and eating a baby seal? What would you bring then? Probably the same stuff. But the Switch from Quirky makes picnics and ritual seal dismemberment easy and fun!

The product is a modular knife. You pick the tools, put them together, and snap the attachments shut with a coin or other screwdriver-like accoutrement.

Two exterior body covers, for encasing the tool attachments.
- Two slotted caps to hold the tool together, which can be removed with the twist of a quarter to disassemble the unit.
- Three interior axle assemblies – small (2-6 tools), medium (4-10 tools), and large (7-13 tools) — which can be swapped in and out depending on your desired tool width.
- 18 tool attachments: Standard Knife, Pliers, Scissors, Nail File, Tweezers, Thin Flathead Screwdriver, Phillips-Head Screwdriver, Eyeglass Phillips-Head Screwdriver, Eyeglass Flathead Screwdriver, Wood Saw, Serrated Blade, Corkscrew, Combination Bottle Opener/Flathead Screwdriver, Combination Can Opener/Wire Stripper, Pen, Magnifying Glass, LED Flashlight, 1GB USB Memory Stick.

The knife is available for pre-order right now for $68 but it will go up to $79 after the pre-sale. They probably want to sell a critical mass before they go whole hog on production.

This could be an interesting solution for travelling with your multi-tool, as well, because you can take off the blade and just carry the smaller bits.

WTF, indeed. These “WTFJeans” have a special micro fiber-lined iPhone/iPod Touch pocket (good idea), hidden memory stick pocket (okay, I guess), and extra padding on both sides of the crotch area so that, according to the product description, “No matter whether you wear the family jewels on the right like 90 percent of guys, or whether you’re a leftie—extra padding on both sides keeps them cozy.” Again, WTF indeed.

The jeans are made in Europe and the first 100 pairs will sell for 59 Euro (around $80). That’s a “beta price” and the jeans ship April 1st, which may mean that these are an elaborate April Fool’s joke a month in the making. They’re not quite dumb enough to not be real, though, except for the ball warming feature. That micro fiber-lined pocket is actually a good idea.

The stitching around the jeans is “Twitter bloo”. I’m beginning to think this whole Twitter thing might be catching on, seeing that it’s made its way into weird European pants. The jeans will be available in men’s and women’s cuts, although the ladies miss out on the hot crotch zone features.

More than anything, Sony's lost its spirit, spending too much time telling us it's the greatest electronics company in the world and not nearly enough showing us.

Proprietary Formats

Sony's last huge format hit was a product called "Compact Disc". You might have heard of it. Spinning plastic wheel with pits in the bottom? Read by lasers? Co-developed with Philips?

It took a couple of years for CDs to take hold, but once they did, Sony raked in the cash. Not only by selling players, but by manufacturing CDs for themselves and others. It's a huge part of their business even today, as Sony DADC produces not just CDs, but DVDs, Blu-ray, and PlayStation discs in facilities around the world.

Sony became spoiled. For decades, a success in a new media format meant that Sony could expect to make money selling the media itself. Through the '80s and '90s, they became less inclined to share the market. Sony developed the 3.5-inch floppy disc drive for computers which found wide adoption as blank discs were available from a variety of manufacturers. MiniDisc followed, but with less success. In 1998 as the flash memory market started to warm up, Sony introduced Memory Stick, what eventually became an entire family of expensive flash memory formats that were not compatible with devices from any other manufacturers.

And don't forget the Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD war. Sony eventually won that one, but the battle continued for such a long time because neither consortium wanted to lose the market to produce media for consumers—consumers who were increasingly getting their content online.

See the problem? Time and again, Sony took an excellently engineered solution and held it tightly, the better to extract big profits. But every generation, every iteration, Sony's need to control the format became more and more of a liability. Even loyal Sony customers could tell the proprietary formats were a screw job, eroding their happiness with their Sony product every time they had to shell out a premium to buy a Sony-authorized blank.

Unwillingness to Commit

Sony is rife with good ideas. Too afraid to commit to each one fully, Sony instead releases a ridiculous number of products in an attempt to see which might take hold, making many that seem like one-off oddities that even Sony doesn't believe in.

Take "Bravia Link", the streaming media box that Sony decided to sell as a $200 aftermarket option for its televisions while Sony's competitors were integrating similar services right into the TV. Worse, Sony sells the PlayStation 3. Why not integrate the streaming service into that, adding value to the PS3 and buy-in of its customers?

Or what about the Party-shot Automatic Photographer, a dock that works with just two models of Sony's point-and-shoot cameras to automatically compose and shoot portraits of party-goers. Great idea—so why isn't it just built into every camera Sony makes?

Nintendo ate Sony's lunch with the Wii—so Sony is building a Wiimote clone for the PS3.

Netbooks were hot—so Sony built a netbook twice as expensive as its competitors with little performance difference then let it fade away in the market after spending millions on its launch campaign.

Sony released the first e-ink reader years before the Kindle—in Japan only. And it was nearly impossible to load your own content onto it. And it took years to get a solid online library and store together. According to estimates from Forrester Research, Sony had only sold about 50,000 of its Readers before Amazon entered the game with the Kindle. It took a competitor with a superior product to convince customers it was time to look at e-ink readers at all. And the non-strategic advantage of being the only reader sold in brick-and-mortar stores for Sony to get the #2 market share it had at last tally.

Apple announced the iPad—so Sony says the tablet market is a "space [they] would like to be an active player in." I am sighing preemptively for the beautiful black slate that Sony will release in 2011, then never upgrade again. In the meantime Sony is pushing its new Chumby-based Dash device, or as you may recognize it, a five-inch thick touchscreen tablet that you have to keep plugged into a wall.

For a brief moment, Sony's Vaio notebooks were among the most beautiful and colorful around. But it didn't take long for Sony's larger notebook competitors like HP to catch up on design—while Sony continued to charge a premium for their now stock-standard "pretty" laptops. Gartner analyst Leslie Fiering put it damningly: "They've been status quo for so long that it's hard to see signs of change. If they continue on the path they're on, they're going to continue to be an also-ran."

That's today's Sony: an also-ran who wants to be respected like a market leader.

For homework, Sony could start with these three studies from Stanford School of Business: "Too Much Choice Can Hurt Brand Performance"; "Asking Consumers to Compare May Have Unintended Results"; and "For Buyers, More Choice Means Better Quality".

That last one might seem bolster Sony's shotgun marketing plan until you read this warning: "In one study, for example, consumers gave top ratings to a restaurant that offered a wide variety of dishes in one category—Thai food. But when that restaurant was portrayed as offering not only Thai food but also food in other categories, consumer ratings went down. 'In some cases, having a lot of unrelated options is a signal to the consumer that the brand is not focused, and therefore can't be very good.'"

Arrogance

There's no better example of the arrogance of the modern Sony than the launch of the PlayStation 3. It was the last of the current generation of game consoles to market. It cost more than all its competitors. Kaz Hirai, then president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America and now the head of the entire ball of wax worldwide, said infamously, "The next generation doesn't start until we say it does."

People were rolling their eyes at Sony even as Hirai and his executive team made those lofty statements—but our eyes flipped all the way into the backs of our skulls after Sony spent the next three years struggling in a videogame market they once dominated.

Why Sony would present this cocky face to the world is impossible to understand, until you realize that it's the sort of self-delusional bluster, pre-game trash talk, from a team that hasn't won a championship in years.

It's clear in their marketing and press relations, too. Sony is always quick to throw a big party, launch some laptop with a silly event like a fashion show, or hand press review units out to lifestyle magazines but not technical publications. Having had one accidental lifestyle product success with the Walkman, Sony mistakenly believes that its products are stylish—when in fact the Walkman became a style icon despite its often garish or pedestrian looks.

If you think this is too harsh an appraisal, think about the many Sony products that arbitrarily ended up in our 50 Worst Gadgets of the Decade roundup. Almost all of them are guilty of more than one of the above infractions, and some—such as the $1900 solid-brass MiniDisc player above, a key device in the short-lived Qualia luxury line—are the glorious embodiment of all three.

I believe Sony has the chutzpah to do more than make me-too products—they're capable of making market-expanding products that become household names. But until they take a hard look at themselves in an honest light, Sony will continue to embarrass themselves by remaining the company that says they're bringing us the future—then sells us products even they don't believe in.

And don’t forget the Blu-ray vs.

But every generation, every iteration, Sony’s need to control the format became more and more of a liability. Even loyal Sony customers could tell the proprietary formats were a screw job, eroding their happiness with their Sony product every time they had to shell out a premium to buy a Sony-authorized blank.

Unwillingness to Commit

Sony is rife with good ideas. Too afraid to commit to each one fully, Sony instead releases a ridiculous number of products in an attempt to see which might take hold, making many that seem like one-off oddities that even Sony doesn’t believe in.

Take “Bravia Link“, the streaming media box that Sony decided to sell as a $200 aftermarket option for its televisions while Sony’s competitors were integrating similar services right into the TV. Worse, Sony sells the PlayStation 3. Why not integrate the streaming service into that, adding value to the PS3 and buy-in of its customers?

Or what about the Party-shot Automatic Photographer, a dock that works with just two models of Sony’s point-and-shoot cameras to automatically compose and shoot portraits of party-goers. Great idea—so why isn’t it just built into every camera Sony makes?

Nintendo ate Sony’s lunch with the Wii—so Sony is building a Wiimote clone for the PS3.

Apple announced the iPad—so Sony says the tablet market is a “space [they] would like to be an active player in.” I am sighing preemptively for the beautiful black slate that Sony will release in 2011, then never upgrade again. In the meantime Sony is pushing its new Chumby-based Dash device, or as you may recognize it, a five-inch thick touchscreen tablet that you have to keep plugged into a wall.

For a brief moment, Sony’s Vaio notebooks were among the most beautiful and colorful around. But it didn’t take long for Sony’s larger notebook competitors like HP to catch up on design—while Sony continued to charge a premium for their now stock-standard “pretty” laptops. Gartner analyst Leslie Fiering put it damningly: “They’ve been status quo for so long that it’s hard to see signs of change. If they continue on the path they’re on, they’re going to continue to be an also-ran.”

That’s today’s Sony: an also-ran who wants to be respected like a market leader.

For homework, Sony could start with these three studies from Stanford School of Business: “Too Much Choice Can Hurt Brand Performance“; “Asking Consumers to Compare May Have Unintended Results“; and “For Buyers, More Choice Means Better Quality“.

That last one might seem bolster Sony’s shotgun marketing plan until you read this warning: “In one study, for example, consumers gave top ratings to a restaurant that offered a wide variety of dishes in one category—Thai food. But when that restaurant was portrayed as offering not only Thai food but also food in other categories, consumer ratings went down. ‘In some cases, having a lot of unrelated options is a signal to the consumer that the brand is not focused, and therefore can’t be very good.’”

Arrogance

There’s no better example of the arrogance of the modern Sony than the launch of the PlayStation 3. It was the last of the current generation of game consoles to market. It cost more than all its competitors. Kaz Hirai, then president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America and now the head of the entire ball of wax worldwide, said infamously, “The next generation doesn’t start until we say it does.”

People were rolling their eyes at Sony even as Hirai and his executive team made those lofty statements—but our eyes flipped all the way into the backs of our skulls after Sony spent the next three years struggling in a videogame market they once dominated.

Why Sony would present this cocky face to the world is impossible to understand, until you realize that it’s the sort of self-delusional bluster, pre-game trash talk, from a team that hasn’t won a championship in years.

It’s clear in their marketing and press relations, too.

I believe Sony has the chutzpah to do more than make me-too products—they’re capable of making market-expanding products that become household names. But until they take a hard look at themselves in an honest light, Sony will continue to embarrass themselves by remaining the company that says they’re bringing us the future—then sells us products even they don’t believe in.

–With reporting by Brian Barrett and Don Nguyen

Would you like to watch movie on PSP? It is a definitely easy thing to do, but for some purpose a number of people don’t know how to watch movie on PSP. There is no reason to be unsure as its only a four step course of action you need in order to have the ability to watch movie on your Sony PSP.

Step 1-

Ensure that your PSP has been switched off, and connect it to your personal computer. A USB cable is needed to have the ability to do this. As quickly as you have made the connection, switch the PSP on.

Step 2-

Pick up the PSP and go into the settings menu. As soon as you’re there, the X button, which links the PSP to the personal computer. You may need to wait a bit for the personal computer and also the PSP to recognise each other, but as soon as it has took place go to the computer and look in “My Computer”. Your PSP should now be visible, just as an external hard drive or anything like flash memory would.

Step 3-

Still with the computer, go into the PSP, access the memory stick, and open the folder titled “PSP”. As soon as you are in there make another folder, and call it “MP_ ROOT”, and an additional one which ought to be named “100mnv01. ”

Step 4-

Before you are able to watch movies on a PSP you need to change them to MP4 format. Later on in the article, you will find out where to get software for converting DVDs to MP4s. As long as you have the MP4s saved to the personal computer, all you need to do is save the MP4s that you intend to watch into the folder you just made called “100mnv01”. As soon as that is done, you just need to click on every movie within that folder, with the PSP itself, and they needs to start playing from there.

That’s that you have to do to be able to see movie on PSP. The only other thing you’ll surely need is software to rip the movies from the DVDs and change them to MP4, and you will find a link below which will take you to a page where software like this is reviewed. The ones which have been reviewed here not only change to MP4, but they also let you download unlimited PSP games too!

To learn more about putting movies on psp click this link-> movies on psp or sony psp movies

Back in August 2009, we covered a cordless phone offered by Sharp Japan that could be connected to a portable 7-inch touch panel via infrared. That panel could be used as a digital picture frame, for example. And yesterday, the same company announced [JP] the JD-4C1CW, which again links a cordless phone to a touch screen. This time, the display is part of the phone.

This time, the display is part of the phone.

The new device is a trimmed down version of the previous model: The screen isn’t portable anymore, it’s considerably smaller (4.3 inches), the internal memory is now just 64MB (down from 128MB) and you can’t use the device to send or receive faxes anymore either.

The screen can also be used as a status indicator, kitchen timer, address book, alarm clock, and a photo frame. Pictures can be uploaded via SD/SDHC/Memory Stick or Memory Stick Pro.

The JD-4C1CW cordless phone system, which comes with 2 handsets, will cost $310 when it hits Japanese stores sometime in April. Sharp hasn’t said yet whether the device will ever be available outside this country as well.

Looking for cool gifts for guys is not an activity that is supposed to eat up all the spare time you have in a day. Looking on the internet for a couple of minutes is bound to render some great gifts ideas and you can even order what you like directly online so you don’t have to waste any more time by going from store to store.

We wanted to give you some ideas about cool gifts for guys and we came up with some really cool items which are bound to be of interest. For $350 you can buy the super cool Sony DCRHC40 Mini DV Digital Handycam video camera which can also take pictures. You could also get one refurbished which will help you save about $100 but I think that the price difference in not that big so I would go with the brand new model if I were you. It is a portable camera which will help the guys record some of the special moments in their lives. The 10x optical zooms lens features the Super SteadyShot image stabilizer which means you can take some cool pictures even when you are in movement. The camera has a rotating LCD which is 2.5 inches in diagonal. It comes with a memory stick slot and a lithium rechargeable battery.
Another great and cheap idea for a cool guy gift is the Keychain Locket Pocket Watch. What makes this gift so special is that you can personalize it so it will make a super gift and great way for preserving memories. With a price as low as $30, this pocket watch can be engraved with your initials or a special message and a picture of you and your loved one or any picture that you choose for that matter. On the exterior, this pocket watch has a brushed silver finish and it has a special vintage look which makes it a great memory and a nice fashion accessory.
Last but not least on our cool items list is the Personalized Ice Bucket which can have initials engraved on it. I find personalized gift to be full of sentimental significance and they are much more values than a T-shirt or a pair or regular earrings. The smoothness of the glass makes it modern and vintage at the same time and it will a beautiful table accessory for any special dinner with only the most special of guests.

The personalized Ice Bucket is a great idea for a gift no matter what the occasion is: anniversary, Christmas, wedding present etc. The item will be shipped in nearly a week so make sure you order the gift in advance so it actually gets delivered to you until you have to gift it. With 7.5 inches in height, it’s ideal for cooling whisky, champagne and even wine and beer bottles. The bucket costs around $45 and personalising it with a monogram will cost you nothing (letters have to be capitalised). What a beautiful idea for a woman’s gift as well…
