Being a better player due to sports psychology

Posted by on Saturday, 10 October, 2009

Mental aspect affecting athletes is one unique thing about sports.  We have all seen talented athletes fail miserably. Usually the reason was in their mind.  A lot of the times an inferior athlete was able to beat them due to a stronger mental attitude. This is the part where sports psychology can be used. It can teach athletes that to reach their maximum potential abilities they have to attain the right state of mind first.

In my San Diego sports psychology practice I have seen athletes turn around their performance by applying some mental conditioning. An athlete who was once struggling with his performance was able to improve.  This was a direct result of applied sports psychology.

So there are two ways that psychology can help.  It can help in the mental aspect of their on field performance.Their concentration and realxation can also be aided by this.

So as part of my family therapist San Diego practice there are many people who come in wanting to reach that peak performance. Their performance has shown a remarkable improvement when the techniques were applied. But there were some cases that were not successful. But the result has been sucessful for most of the cases.

It may seem strange but sports psychology also helps teens. And not necessarily in regards to sports. The adolescent years provide circumstances that are similar to trying to succeed in sports.  So this has helped teens in my anger management counseling services as well.

If you are wondering why your performance is lacking then maybe this is what could help you improve.  Because a lot of times it isn’t the athletic ability but the mental ability that will help a person succeed. You may have the most gifted athlete in the world. But if they lack mental strength then their performance will not be at its best.Mental ability is the top reason why we succeed in life.

Beer in a Pouch: Sure, why the hell not?

BeerPaQ

Okay, this is definitely a new one. The “BeerPaQ CarboPouch for Draft Beers” is pretty much exactly like it sounds, although you could drop “BeerPaQ” and “Carbo” to achieve the same effect: it’s beer, but in a pouch. But why?

Here’s why. It’s expensive and time-consuming for smaller “craft draft beer brewers” — people who brew their own beer that’s delicious enough to sell to other people — to bottle all those beers for sale. These beer pouches make it easier and less expensive to do so, especially at on-site events like beer festivals and whatnot where they may sell beers one at a time.

The pouches are made from a special “organoleptic film structure” that apparently don’t change the taste of the beer, so it’s just like drinking out of a bottle assuming you can get past the mental aspect of drinking a tube of beer.

Here’s more:

“The patented film structure is designed to handle the pouch “stretch” after filling and carbonation expansion. The automatic filling process is such that there is no headspace after filling. The three-side seal pouch has a smooth side comfort grip feature. The combination of these factors makes the CarboPouch™ a true economical innovation for distribution of craft draft beers to the consumer’s home. Sports functions now have a package!”

The pouches come in three sizes: 8 ounces (boo!), 16 ounces (yay!), and a whopping 1.8 liter-sized pouch (hooray!). I’ve never personally heard of or seen anything like this but maybe they’ll slowly creep their way into local beer-stravaganzas everywhere.
