eFun Nextbook Premium 9 tablet hands-on (video)

Posted by on Wednesday, 19 October, 2011

It seems like only yesterday that eFun was talking up its Nextbook Premium8 tablet (okay it was two weeks ago), but the company is already pitching the latest entry in the line. The Nextbook Premium9 has a nine-inch display, in keeping with the Southern California company’s fairly straight-forward naming convention. The slate runs a basic version of Android 2.3 (though the company assures us that a Honeycomb upgrade is on the way) and packs in 4GB of memory (expandable via a MicroSD slot), a built-in speaker, a two megapixel front-facing camera and, as a bit of a throwback, a mini USB port.

We had a bit of trouble on the software front — the tablet froze up on us a few times during our hands-on trial, in spite of the 1GHz processor inside. The hardware itself is a bit more promising, however. It’s actually a pretty slick little tablet that has a nice feel in hand, thanks in part to its brushed metal rear — though the tablet does feel a bit on the thick side. The asking price for the Gingerbread slate is 9, though the company made a point of letting us know that it’ll likely be a bit cheaper when it goes on sale in November / December, running consumers closer to 9 — better, sure, but perhaps still not low enough to bring too many folks over to the eFun way.

Posted by on Friday, 23 April, 2010

The Zen mp3 player is one of the best mp3 players that you can find on the market. This article is dedicated to the Creative Zen X-Fi player that comes at a price of $149 for the 8 GB version, $199 for the 16 GB version and $279 for the 32 GB version. The prices are not that high considering that you get a player with a lot of internal storage room plus some of the coolest features that you can find on a modern mp3 player.

On the bottom of the player you will notice the speaker while the right side is host to the headphones jack and one mini USB port. On the top there is an SD card slot plus a microphone jack. On the back of the player you will notice a power and hold switch. It is very simple to get contents on this Zen mp3 player and if you are running Rhapsody or Windows Media Player, there is no need for any extra software to synchronize your player to your PC.

You do get the Creative Centrale software which is great to install if you want to copy a lot of videos on your Zen mp3 player. The menu of this Zen mp3 player is very easy to use, with music files which are sorted by album and playlist and so forth. Even the photo viewer of this player is amazing.  You can zoom and rotate pictures and even watch slideshows while you are listening to music. The audio file formats supported by this player are MP3, WMA, WAV and AAC and the video file format should be MPEG4, AVI and WMV. The built in microphone is useful for voice recording and there is also an integrated FM radio. Since the player comes with an integrated speaker, you can now share music with your friends surrounding you. The SD card slot allows you to extend the memory of the player in case the integrated one is not enough. Audio playback is excellent as the sound coming out of this player is impeccable.

The included display of this player is simply beautiful as the colors are sharp and vibrant and photo viewing is a pleasure. It almost looks like you are watching photos on a cell phone. The horizontal viewing angles are good when you want to show your pictures to your friends. Inside the box you will also get a pair of EP-830 earphones which sound great and they make a good team together with the Zen mp3 player. Battery life is very important when you buy a mp3 player because you may want to listen to music on a long flight so it must provide you with long hours of audio playback. 11 hours of audio playback is what this player has scored during tests. The figures are ok but they are very low compared to the 36 hours that the Creative Company initially promised. Video playback can last a maximum 5 hours and a half.

On the right side of the player, the hold and power switch is located plus the mini USB port and the headphones jack. The top side is host to the reset and microphone holes.

This is the first Creative Zen mp3 player that comes with a microSD card slot which gives you the possibility to extend the memory of your mp3 player. It comes with all the great features you expect to see in a modern mp3 player. Photos are accepted as long as they are in the JPEG format. The audio file formats supported by this player are MP3, Audible, WAV, protected and even unprotected WMA tracks and AAC files. As for the video formats, this player can render MPEG4, XVID, DVIX, WMV and motion JPEG files.

This 16GB mp3 player comes with a n included FM radio plus the voice recording feature. No matter how you look at it, this Zen mp3 player offers amazing performance for a price which cannot be considered exactly expensive. The FM radio has 32 preset slots. The player can also work with contacts and even calendar information.  Video rendering is done at a great quality and even the viewing angles of this small display are great. Audio quality is another thing which will give you reasons to brag about your Creative Zen 16GB mp3 player. With the proper set of earbuds or headphones, you can enjoy hours and hours of listening to your favorite tunes with absolutely no sound muffling or distortions.  The best part is that even when you are listening to music, you can still view photos and slideshows.

Since battery life is always important for an mp3 player as it is supposed to be a great travel companion, the Creative Zen 16GB mp3 player did not disappoint us. During different battery drain tests that required continuous audio playback, this mp3 player managed to stay on for 24 long hours without shutting down. This means that will surely not let you down when you wish to take it out of the pocket and listen to your favorite song.  Should you wish to use the player for watching clips, the battery will provide you with 5 hours of video playback. This is great performance for those moments when you want to take the player while going on the bus to school or work, riding a bike or jogging in the park, climbing a mountain or having a long airplane flight.

Cheap MP3 Player

Posted by on Monday, 5 April, 2010

When you are on the market looking to buy a cheap mp3 player, you can rest assured as there are a lot of affordable models which you can find a lot of information about on online stores. An example of such a cheap mp3 player which is also quality material is the SanDisk Sansa Clip+ which comes at a starting price of $29.
<-300×250 Medium Rectangle – center->
The SanDisk Sansa Clip+ comes in 3 different storage versions. If you want the 2 GB version you are going to have to pay $39.99, the 4 GB version costs $49.99 and the 8 GB version costs $69.99. When it comes to the design, this mp3 player is similar to its predecessors. It measures 2.1 x 1.3 x 0.4 inches in dimensions and 0.9 ounces in weight and it also comes with a belt clip which is going to help you carry it around and keep it safe at all times.  There is a square five way control button and it has a volume rocker and the mini USB port on the left side and the Micro SD card slot is on the right side. On top of the player you will spot the power button. When you open up the main menu, you will discover selections for FM radio, settings and music. The display measures only 1 inch in diagonal and reading what is on the display can be quite difficult unless you have great eyesight.

Even if this is a small and cheap mp3 player, it comes with a lot of cool features like the capacity of supporting different audio formats such as MP3s, WAV, WMA, OGG, FLAC and audible. The unit comes with a built in microphone which can be used for voice recording and there is an included FM tuner that comes with autoscan mode. Thanks to the microSD card slot, you can extend the memory of this player up to 16 GB. If you buy the 8 GB version of this MP3 player and buy an additional memory card of 16 GB, you will get 24 GB of MP3 player memory in total for less than $110. This is an incredible deal. The battery life will only manage to keep this MP3 player turned on for 15 hours which is not the best but not the worse battery life performance for this MP3 player.

To tell the truth, there are not many reasons why you shouldn’t buy this Sansa MP3 player. It’s true, it does lack a wireless adapter and the display is not touch sensitive and there are features that you will only find on more expensive MP3 players. The sound quality is good and the volume levels are also decent. In fact, the quality and features of this MP3 player are quite amazing and unexpected for a device which is this cheap. This is one of the best choices for a good portable MP3 player when you are on a budget. For those which are familiar to what the Clip than do, we can surely say that the Clip+ comes with visible improvements.

Coby Mp3 Player

Posted by on Wednesday, 31 March, 2010

The Coby MP3 player looked quite funny to me when I first saw it. I thought that at first it looked like a toy and then it appeared to be more of a cell phone. Anyway, the Coby MP3 player is one little fellow that has some Aces up his sleeve. No matter how you look at it, this MP3 player, which has a starting price of $29 is a cute little guy which may just become your new best friend. Don’t get me wrong, this is not even close to the best MP3 players which we have seen so far, but I’m sure that the small Coby MP3 player has its fans.

<-300×250 Medium Rectangle – center->

The Coby MP C700 series MP3 player is our main focus for this article. Unfortunately, it seems that this particular MP3 player is failing at pretty much every chapter except, maybe, for the design part. Could it be due to the fact that this MP3 player is way too cheap? By cheap I mean that the 2 GB MP C7092 model can be purchased for less than $80. There is not much to complain about when it comes to the design of this little gadget. It has pretty much the same size as the iPod Nano except for the fact that the edges are rounded. There is a 1.8 inch display and below it you will notice five-way control pad. The back of the player is host to the on and off switch which is quite an unusual place to located such a switch. There are also one mini USB port located on the bottom of the player, plus a 2.5 mm headphones jack located on the top.

This Coby MP3 player will not exactly offers us something to write home about. Another Coby MP3 player which is not very spectacular when it comes to features, but it is spectacular due to its $20 is the MP C827. There is no display on this player. In fact, it looks more like one of those USB memory sticks which you use to carry around your files. There are 3 buttons on this MP3 player. The bad part is that you must get used to the same buttons for different functions.

The skip button must be held down and it will then work as a volume button. The sad part is that this MP3 player only comes with 128 MB of included storage memory. It runs with the help of one AAA battery which comes included in the package. Speaking of what’s inside the package, you will also find one USB extension cable, a CD with drivers and a pair of earphones. I think that it is worth saving a couple of bucks and buy a $50 MP3 player which can offer you at least a decent display. It is not that this Coby MP3 player is bad or anything, it’s just that there are so many MP3 players out there which are better and they are not even that expensive.
