The Microsoft X6 Keyboard: A Wise Choice

Posted by on Wednesday, 21 April, 2010

A lot of PC gamers today are moving away from the standard 101 key keyboard and are purchasing ones with programmable keys. It seems to be an endless quest for gamers to have the latest and best gaming keyboards.Microsoft has been trying hard to meet the demands of PC gamers, thus the creation of Microsoft SideWinder X6 keyboard.

Microsoft was once the biggest player in the gaming hardware market producing joysticks that really mattered then in PC games. Unfortunately for Miscrosoft when the demand for joysticks vanished so to did their Sidewinder brand, until now.

After Microsoft started playing around with the idea of creating a mouse and keyboard with the SideWinder brand it was then when the Microsoft SideWinder X6 gaming keyboard came into existence. It came after the production of the SideWinder mouse, completing the mouse-keyboard duo that PC gamers have long been waiting for.

Offering an interesting design and sporting a good number of extra features, the Microsoft SideWinder X6 meets the demand of PC game enthusiasts for a gaming keyboard with customized functionality for many situations in gaming. One of the main and most remarkable features of this awesome keyboard is the ability to move the outer segment of the keyboard to either left or right side, depending on preference. This feature provides a new luxurious experience to PC gamers especially to left-handers.

Its color scheme, a black body with red backlighting for its standard keys and an amber hue for its keypad and programmable buttons, make it truly unique. You can also adjust the color intensity and volume by using the big knobs at the top of the keyboard.

And to further improve your gaming experience, the Microsoft SideWinder x6 keyboard also features a number of hot keys. You can also configure it for specific games by installing the software that comes with the keyboard. This shiny gaming keyboard’s switchable keypad also allows you to switch between standard keypad and macro pad in gaming mode, and the LEDs will show you the selected mode.

So if you want to look into getting a better gaming keyboard, you must check out the abundant of websites that feature a review on the X6 Gaming Keybaord and see for yourself how convenient it can be to use this gaming keyboard.

Dell Studio Hybrid at $200 Off, Until 10/29/2009

Reps from Dell have positively insisted I share the following discount: $200 in instant savings on the Dell Studio hybrid desktop.

While Dell—and other online retailers—are known to slap “instant” discounts on their product pages to move sales, the $200 price cut is notable because it brings the price of a pre-configured Studio hybrid down to $299. The fact that Dell designed this particular Studio to be the “greenest, most power-efficient consumer desktop” should also appeal to our environmentally-conscious sides.

Note that the $299 price is exclusive of any applicable shipping charges and taxes. If you also want something a bit more powerful than the default configuration (2.1GHz Dual-Core Intel, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, DVD Burner, integrated audio, video, and ethernet) you’ll of course have to pay more.

The Studio hybrid also doesn’t come with a mouse, keyboard, and display, but these are also available through Dell.com at very reasonable prices. That $200 discount in any case makes it possible to get more for the same money, but you better get going, as it lasts only until 10/29/09 5:55 AM CDT.

Studio hybrid desktop only $299! Nearly 50% off (applies until 10/29/09 5:55 AM CDT)

Sub-$200 Twenty-Inch 1920 x 1080 Displays: Dell ST2210 and ST2310

Posted by on Monday, 21 September, 2009

Two Full HD 1080p displays, one very affordable price point. The Dell ST2310, a 1920 x 1080 23-inch display, supposedly starts at $229, but thanks to “instant savings” of $50, the price can go as low as $179, before shipping and taxes.

Dell-ST2310

Compare that to the Dell ST2210, a monitor that features the same resolution, but a smaller panel size at 21.5″. The “starting price” is already below two-hundred dollars at $199, but $40 is “slashed off” immediately, leaving a total of $159.

Dell-ST2210

Of course, extra charges may apply thanks to the aforementioned delivery- and IRS-related charges, but unless you purchase a mouse-keyboard bundle with either monitor, it’s unlikely the total bill will go over $200, easily making both the ST2210 and ST2310 the most affordable 1920 x 1080 displays I’ve seen.

It also helps that, despite Dell’s issues with customer support and computer reliability, its displays usually score well among reviewers, with complaints mostly about the price. That may be true for displays that for some reason, are priced quite high by Dell, which clearly doesn’t apply here. Below are specs and buy links at Dell.com for your convenience.

Display Dell ST2210 ST2310
Panel Size 21.5″ 23″

Color Support 16.7 million colors
Pixel Pitch 0.248 mm 0.266mm
Display Type Anti-glare
Connectivity High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)
Digital Visual Interface – Digital (DVI-D) with High

“Starting Price” $199 $229
Actual Price $159 $179
Buy Link Dell ST2210 21.5-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor Dell ST2310 23-inch Full HD Widescreen Monitor

As you can see, both displays are practically the same, with differences only in panel size, pixel density, and of course price.

Razer teases StarCraft fans with new mouse, keyboard and headset

Remember that StarCraft Zerg messaging bag from yesterday? Yeah, that it’s only a teaser of what’s coming from Razer. Gamers can expect a new mouse, keyboard and headset themed after their favorite RTS.

Chances are that Razer will announces all these at Blizzcon later this month. I don’t think it’s probably to far fetched to state that the mouse will be a varation of the Mamba, the keyboard like the Lycosa, and the headset a take on the Carcharias. Right? But until the official announcement, all we have is the image above.

Combimouse Is A Mashup Of Human Interface Devices

My desk seems to be plagued by a constant turf war between my mouse, keyboard and Wacom tablet who are constantly battling it out for real estate. But could the Combimouse finally bring peace to my desktop? It takes the idea of the split ergonomic keyboard one step further by allowing the right side to double as a mouse, so in theory you never have to take your fingers off the keys.

When your hands are poised in a standard typing stance the right side operates like a regular keyboard, but when you hold it like you would a mouse, you end up touching a contact switch on the side which automatically changes it to ‘mouse mode’. So not only can it be used to move the cursor, but the I, O, J, K, L and < keys become your mouse buttons. But don't get excited about ordering one just yet. It seems the Combimouse is still in the prototype stages at this point, though successful usability tests have been carried out by Wichita State University, so it just might make it to the market some day.
