HTC EVO 3D coming to Europe, keeping the sexy name and specs

Posted by on Monday, 28 March, 2011

Earlier this year, HTC allowed its previously Verizon-exclusive brand name out to prowl the globe with the Incredible S, and now it’s doing the same with the heretofore Sprint-only EVO moniker. The EVO 3D, says a tweet from HTC’s French mouthpiece, is coming to the land of baguettes, stylish mustaches and stripy pullovers, though a little bit of mystery remains as to when exactly its arrival shall be. Whatever the schedule (the EVO 3D’s set for a “summer” release in the US), the rest of Europe’s unlikely to be left out, meaning a 4.3-inch superphone with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1080p video recording in 2D and 720p in 3D, HTC’s newest Sense skin and Android’s freshest Gingerbread build, is headed out to the Old Wold. And that, fellow pilgrims, is a mighty awesome thing indeed.

“Go green” with the 7pipe Pro

Posted by on Thursday, 1 April, 2010

As time goes on, we’re seeing technology start to show up in all kinds of unexpected places. For example: the DVD kiosk, shoe insoles, and now the pipe. And when I say pipe, I mean a “420 friendly” pipe.

The 7pipe Pro is unique in the fact that it uses a glass insert, instead of the standard metal style. Typical pipes of this style are made metal or wood, and have a tendency to taint the flavor of your smoke. It’s also considered to be more healthy, as seen by the popularity of water pipes and other related goods. The 7pipe Pro also features an interchangeable mouthpiece, carb control, and an easy to adjust flame height. MSRP is $72, with replacement glass selling for $11.

By Andrew Liszewski

Always wanted a bear skin rug but were worried about the wrath of PETA? Or maybe you just haven’t been able to nail down a single motif for your living room renovation? Either way, Lise Lefebvre’s Barenjager or ‘Bear Hunter’ rug is an almost stylish cross between having a rustic bear skin on your floor, or an elaborate Persian rug. The carpet itself is made from wool, while the bear’s head is a combination of wood, glass eyes and a plastic mouthpiece complete with faux teeth. There’s no pricing info on her site though, which in this case means it’s probably not for sale.

Wham: FlipShare video is handled by Mossberg

If you’ve been waiting for some way to put your low- to middling-resolution videos onto a big TV, your prayers have been answered. Flip, through their mouthpiece Walt Mossberg, just dumped out a big bucket of howsyerfather and announced the Flipshare for all to enjoy.

Not much has changed since we spotted this device in October. It’s not even live on the Flip site yet so it’s abundantly clear that the WSJ servers jumped the gun on posting.

The device will cost $150 and plugs into an HDMI or component video input. It streams videos wirelessly thanks to a white wireless dongle and includes a remote. The device can share Flip video files with ease, other files not so much.

Does the world need another specialized streaming device? With Roku boxen working so well and especially with channels enabled, the Flipshare makes sense if you’re totally into your Flip. Our original hope was that this thing would stream everything to everyone. It won’t.

Oh well, at least we can still use their cameras to film the moments of our lives.
