When it comes to advertising, many people do not understand the complexities of the web and where to go to advertise. auto dealer marketing, for example, may target automotive websites so that the name of one particular company is advertised. Anything that drives traffic to the advertising site could be another lead that could mean money in the end. But it is not only these sites where advertising will go on to promote any particular product. For car sellers, the world is their oyster because many people just have to have a car. Therefore, the sites where they can be advertised are every place anyone could look. Finding a niche market is sometimes harder since the vehicle will be much harder to sell, but for cars which are very fashionable this problem rarely occurs.

It may also be a good idea to get past customers to generate some interest by writing testimonials that are very important. It has been shown that a lot of people, when buying consumer goods, will actively search out previous testimonials to see what others have to say about different products. With the advent of the internet, this has become very easy to do. Articles on the car itself are also a good idea and many key words in the article can lead the prospective customer to the person selling the car. Having links on these words (where the words are shown in blue and underlined sometimes) means that the customer merely has to click on this word or phrase and he will immediately be taken off the site where he will be helped.

Some hosting companies who have their own sites charge the vendor for each time a word is clicked on (pay per click) and this is a very effective way to show the world some great products. This is how clever entrepreneurs make money without really doing very much. They put up a cool site where people want to come and browse and each time they see something interesting, the owner will reap the benefits.

Managed sites are there to promote the vendor and sell his particular brand to the public at large. It does not necessarily have to be just one product, like cars or motors, but it will pull people to the site of choice so that they are tempted to buy something.

Making the site easy to navigate and very interesting is also one of those things that interest the public. Not one member of the public will come back if the site is hard to get around or he cannot find the information that he needs with ease and without fuss. Also avoid talking in complicated language because not all visitors will have perfect English to play with. If the site can be translated into several languages, then this is a great advantage for international customers who may not have the ability. It is clear then that the internet is the driving force behind advertising these days since there is no longer the unneccesary need for expensive ads in newspapers or on TV channels.

There are a number of APC battery manufacturers out there, some good, some bad. Here we look into which brands have risen to the top of the industry, and how they got there- What defines a strong APC battery brand, what sets them apart from the competitors, and what a buyer should be able to expect from their products. To a certain degree, in essence, it’s all down to a degree of professional ethics.

With regards to APC batteries, there are really only a few manufacturers that most retailers are willing to bother with. It’s not difficult to identify the top brands as APC batteries do have something of a ‘niche’ market. For those of you who have been buying APC battereis for years, then you will know exactly who to purchase from, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t a competitive market, because it is.

You should consider, in the first instance, purchasing your APC battery from the main manufacturers which are really CSB and Yuasa. Simply put, these two companies, above any others, have a stellar reputation for delivering quality APC batteries in a full range of shapes and sizes. This is why, no matter what retailer you’re looking at, the vast majority of the top rated APC suppliers stick to these two brands. It’s simply good business, as CSB and Yuasa consistently deal in reliable, well made equipment. It’s a good idea as well if you are a buyer to stick to APC batteries from CSB and Yuasa.

This isn’t to say that there are no good companies besides CSB and Yuasa, but with these two, you can always expect top quality, reliable APC batteries. Considered amongst the best in the industry is CSB and Yuasa. This is due to the fact that they are consistent in producing good quality and reliable batteries.

In any event, you shouldn’t buy from any company, including the two referenced here, without doing some research. Double A batteries are suitable for your gameboy, but workstations, networks and home computers need reliability for a full year which is why we use APC batteries. It would be wise to browse some message boards relevant to APC batteries and ask for recommendations and read reviews and opinions on various APC battery manufacturers.

Changing specifications without notice, it should be noted, is a tendancy of stockists of APC batteries. Therefore, before placing any order, you should always remove your current APC battery, check its specifications, and make sure that you are ordering the correct size and shape for your APC replacement battery. Despite being the right type of battery, the most common complaint received by APC battery retailers, is that the batteries don’t fit the hardware when they arrive. The additional costs incurred when this happens, is the responsibility of the buyer.

You would be hard pressed to find an OLED TV in any brick and mortar retailer besides the Sony Store right now. The technology is amazing, but they just aren’t available yet and that might not change soon according to a iSuppli report. The TVs are too small and the prices are too high to gain any real traction. But, as we all know, that will change as the display tech evolves. However, don’t expect to see a wall full of OLED because the LCD market isn’t slowing down.

Digitimes,

However, even with this growth, unit shipments of OLED TV panels will amount to just 850,000 units in 2013 and only 4.7 million units in 2015, up from 25,000 in 2009. This represents a tiny number of shipments compared to the LCD TV panel market, which is set to reach 232.6 million units in 2013.

What we will likely see is similar to the CRT projection TV market growth compared to plasma TVs from earlier in this decade. Stores will carry a few OLED TVs to draw people in like they did with plasma TVs. But once the average Joe sees the price and size compared to an LCD, they will likely opt for the cheaper option and larger option.

As long as OLED continues to mature and carve out a market, it might eventually become the dominate display option. Unless, of course, something new and sexier doesn’t come to market first. Or 3D display take off. *shudder*

There is a good amount of quiet hesitation about the xpPhone around the interwebs this morning. It seems that everyone wants to believe that the xpPhone will make it to market, but it almost seems to good to be true. The specs list an unspecified AMD Super Mobile CPU powering the system and it will be configurable with a wide range of SSD and HDD options. But best of all, the company lets you select the 3G module needed for either AT&T, Vodafone, or Orange. That is, of course, assuming the xpPhone will actually be produced even though you can pre-order one today.

Maybe everyone, including us, are approaching the xpPhone slowly because it seems too good to be true. This “phone” would probably be the most powerful on the market. But it’s almost like that because the device is called a phone, some are taking a different approach. If the device was called a UMPC with a 3G connection, there probably wouldn’t be as much hesitation.

But when you compare specs, the xpPhone is really a Viliv S5 with a physical keyboard, a 0.2-inch smaller screen, and probably a special software suite for the phone functions. The Viliv S5 also has a 3G modem, runs XP off of a mobile CPU, and great battery life though. The only thing it’s lacking is a microphone and it too could be a phone.

The xpPhone could totally make it to market. Now this market could be a tiny, niche market of nerds and a select group of inventory control types, but let’s not forget that this device is simply a UMPC with a phone functions. And it’s going to take a special someone to carry the beast.

Slowly but surely, Redfly is carving out a niche market for itself. A free update is coming sometime in the next few months that will allow Blackberry Bold 9000, Curve 8900, and Tour 9630 to sync with the Redfly C8N and C7.

The company also expects to support upcoming RIM devices as they are released. But where is the love for the Blackberry Storm? The phone might not be the greatest, but it sold well. Maybe Redfly didn’t that that people that were suckered into buying the phone is its target customer base. But some support is better than none at all. The Redfly seems like a solid companion to a smartphone but so is a netbook and teathering…

Celio Announces BlackBerry Support for the REDFLY Mobile Companion

Mid-Q4, RIM customers will be able to use their BlackBerrys with a larger screen and keyboard; boosting productivity and efficiency

ShowStoppers for the Digital Holidays
SALT LAKE CITY–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Celio Corp, maker of the REDFLY Mobile Companion, has announced support for BlackBerry; giving RIM customers the ability to get the most out of their smartphones with a larger screen and keyboard. The BlackBerry solution will be available in mid-Q4 2009. The BlackBerry solution is offered free-of-charge for existing and new REDFLY Mobile Companion C8N and C7 owners.

At launch, the REDFLY will be compatible with the BlackBerry Bold 9000, BlackBerry Curve 8900 and BlackBerry Tour 9630, with plans to support additional phones as they are released by RIM.

“The trend in enterprise right now is for more people to carry their laptop less and their BlackBerry more,” said Andrew Seybold, CEO and Principal Analyst, Andrew Seybold, Inc. “What Celio is doing will give BlackBerry users a significant productivity boost and businesses a solution they can leverage for their employees. With the Celio REDFLY, you don’t have to carry a laptop at all. Given a choice between a netbook or the REDFLY, I would take the REDFLY hands down.”

The REDFLY Mobile Companion comes in two models – the C8N and C7 – and has a large screen, full QWERTY keyboard, touchpad, up to 8-hour battery, and USB, VGA and media ports, enabling people to get the most from their BlackBerry handhelds. The REDFLY is not a computer. It has no OS, storage or processor, but uses the smartphone’s computing power to give users the ability to interact with the smartphone’s familiar user interface on an 800×480 resolution display. The REDFLY is currently compatible with more than 70 Windows Mobile devices. As Celio adds BlackBerry compatibility, it demonstrates that the Celio REDFLY technology will be implemented on multiple platforms to the benefit of smartphone users.

“Adding BlackBerry support for REDFLY is a logical next step due to RIM’s overwhelming acceptance in the enterprise market. BlackBerry compatibility also answers the call from our community and customers to give them the REDFLY experience on RIM devices,” said Kirt Bailey, president and CEO of Celio Corp. “We’re confident BlackBerry users will enjoy having a larger screen and keyboard for typing e-mails and editing documents, and become more productive and efficient.”

Celio Corp will demonstrate its BlackBerry solution at the ShowStoppers for the Digital Holidays event in New York City on Wednesday, September 16, 2009.

Seymour Cray's big super computer was crazy. It's signals between components had to be timed by trimming long cables up to 1/16th of an inch at a time by hand and was basically interwoven with a giant refrigeration system.

Name: Cray-1
Year created: 1976
Creator: Cray Research, Inc.
Cost: $5 million to $10 million
Memory: 4MW semiconductor
Speed: 160 MFLOPS

Building supercomputers was a dream, an aspiration, and a life's pursuit for Seymour Cray, and his work on the computers that bore his name was the culmination of work he had done for the U.S. Navy, for CDC [Control Data Corporation], and finally for his namesake company. When Cray left CDC in 1972, after his work on the 6600, 7600, and minimally the 8600, he took much of the supercomputer fire with him.

While Cray's departure from CDC wasn't overly dramatic, his impact on supercomputing was. Cray artfully designed computers so that each part worked to efficiently speed up the whole, and he usually didn't rely on the newest experimental components, preferring instead to tweak existing technologies for maximum performance. For instance, the Cray-1 was the first Cray machine to use integrated circuits, despite their having been on the market for about a decade. At 160 MFLOPS, the Cray-1 was the fastest machine at the time, and despite what seemed like only a niche market for expensive superfast machines, Cray Research sold more than a hundred of them.

Form and size were always concerns for Cray, as far back as his days developing the CDC 160, which was built into an ordinary desk. There was also a big concern with the heat that could be generated by so many parts being packaged so tightly together, so Cray's designs typically involved unique cooling solutions, whether it be Freon on the Cray-1, or Fluorinert, in which Cray-2's circuit boards were immersed.

Simply put: You’ll have to rely on expensive “solutions” which create more problems than they solve.

Courtesy Village Tronic

A review of the Village Tronic ViBook mysteriously calls the USB graphics extender “a good option” for those who want to power a secondary display with their PC, laptop, or netbook. To the reviewer’s credit though, he realizes that there are ways to do this for less than the ViBook’s $129 price, including just getting a PCI or PCIe graphics card for a desktop.

It’s clear that the ViBook is perfect for owners of portable computers that don’t feature VGA-out, specifically netbooks like the HP Mini 1000. Unfortunately, like other USB graphics extenders, Village Tronic’s product is very demanding on the CPU. Granted, some netbook processors are powerful enough to handle the load—which, according to the review, can go as high as 95% on a Core 2 Duo laptop. But guess what a constantly high load does for battery life? (Answer: cut it down significantly)

These realities limit the ViBook to a very niche market—netbooks that don’t support an extra monitor out-of-the-box—and makes it an impractical solution for even this market, as a USB graphics extender would put too much strain on a netbook’s limited capabilites. In short, just avoid all the trouble, and support netbooks that come with its own VGA-out port. Nothing sends a better message to manufacturers than ignoring portables that require you to purchase a separate adapter just to get it working with a second display or projector.
