How to get a hefty new hard drive for your Mac without making your other gadgets jealous? Iomega is offering up a solution with the fairly elegant Mac Companion Hard Drive, a two or three terabyte external drive designed with Apple computers in mind that adds a high-powered charging port for your peripherals. The drive also packs additional USB and FireWire ports (no Thunderbolt, guys?), plus a set of four LEDs, which let you know how full it is with a glance. The drives are available via Apple at 5 and 5, for 2TB and 3TB, respectively.

A long time ago, in a boardroom far, far away… a designer (flanked by marketing execs) pitched an idea for a set of Star Wars: The Old Republic branded peripherals, and the CEO of Razer told his troopers to “make it so.” Or, at least that’s how we imagine it happened. In addition to mixing up his sci-fi references, whoever approved this gaming keyboard, mouse, and headset also abandoned any notion of subtlety. All three are slathered in interchangeable Sith or Jedi insignias, bright LEDs, and a texture not unlike the exterior of a Star Destroyer. The most ostentatious is easily the keyboard, which sports both a multitouch screen and two rows of adaptive buttons over an LCD (à la Switchblade). The keyboard will run you 0, while the mouse or headset will cost 0 when they launch alongside The Old Republic later this year. Check out the gallery below and the PR after the break.

In the year 2000, former Apple, WebTV and Philips employees Andy Rubin, Joe Britt, and Matt Hershenson founded a little company called Danger Incorporated, which you may know from such hits as the original Sidekick and a 0 million sale to Microsoft. One of those three co-founders, Andy Rubin, has since become a very public face at Google, and it turns out he’s recently gotten back together with his former compatriots to do more than just reminisce about the old days. As Fortune reports, both Britt and Hershenson quietly joined Google “within the last twelve months” to run a new Android Hardware wing of the company. So far, much of their work has apparently focused on accessories and, while there’s reportedly no plans for any actual Google-branded accessories anytime soon, Britt reportedly said that he would like to see the company produce some Android peripherals of its own “in the long term.” Of course, Danger also produced its own software back in the day and, as you’re probably aware, the key architect of it, Matias Duarte, is now at Google as well.

Word out of NAB is that Matrox, known best for enabling day-traders to run an excessive number of monitors off a single graphics card, will be the first company to market with peripherals designed to use Thunderbolt. All the latest models of its MXO2 family of video I/O boxes will be shipping with Thunderbolt on board, while budding film makers using the current gen MXO2 devices will be able to push 10Gb worth of pixels per second by picking up an adapter. Matrox didn’t announce a firm release date or price, though we expect it will fall in line with the current products, which range from 9 up to almost ,400 for the MXO2 Rack with Matrox Max. They’re not exactly must have accessories for the average user, but if you simply can’t wait any longer to put those Thunderbolt ports to use, it’s the only game in town.

Instead of struggling to reach your computer’s ports on the back, wouldn’t it be nice to connect your speakers or microphone to the front? This simple adapter adds a microphone-in and an audio-out port to your computer through a USB port. It’s a great way to connect peripherals whose cords aren’t long enough to reach around the back of your PC. Eliminates the need for a traditional sound card.
