Lovefilm, Disney UK deal brings ABC content across the pond

Posted by on Monday, 16 January, 2012

If you’re living across the pond and hankering for ABC’s content, it’s en route. In what could be considered a response to Netflix’s expansion to the UK market, Lovefilm has joined forces with Disney UK to offer members on-demand streaming access to ABC Studios’ content. Available titles include Castle, Lost, Desperate Housewives, Happy Endings, Grey’s Anatomy and the Ghost Whisperer, with all episodes available after their first run in the UK market. Compatible streamers include the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, iPad, smart TV’s and Blu-ray players and the service itself starts at £4.99 (.65) per month. Still no news as to when the Camo Snuggie will make its European debut.

The Twisted, Taxing Puzzles of Space Miner Rochard

Posted by on Tuesday, 27 September, 2011

[nggallery id=170 template=carousel]

NEW YORK — John Rochard doesn’t care about silly things like physics. Like any good blue-collar worker, he’s too busy clocking in his hours and grinding out a living to worry about Newton’s laws or gravitational pull.

That’s your job.

In Rochard, a downloadable physics-based puzzle game available Tuesday on PlayStation 3, you’re tasked with …

Xbox 360′s ESPN3 app updated with more voice control, split screen and more

Posted by on Thursday, 25 August, 2011

The PlayStation 3 may have NFL Sunday Ticket but the Xbox 360 still has exclusive access to ESPN3′s slate of games, shows and replays, and today the app was updated with a new look and a few new features. Viewers can designate their favorite sports and teams to bring related content right to the front, while a new mini-guide gives easy access to other streams while you watch. If you’re trying to keep track of more than one game there’s also support for split screen viewing (with independent control of each stream) and upgraded voice control for Kinect owners. Other tweaks include a college football scoreboard to keep track of all the games at once, reminders, live alerts on score changes and the addition of ESPN’s BottomLine. Unchanged is the restriction that you need to subscribe to a TV provider that includes ESPN3 in its package, but if you do have the service (and shell out for XBL, of course) it should be available the next time you load up your console. Check out the YouTube videos embedded above and after the break along with a press release for a runthrough of some of the new features.

DirecTV brings NFL Sunday Ticket to Android tablets and the PS3 this fall

Posted by on Wednesday, 17 August, 2011

Last year DirecTV started offering NFL Sunday Ticket To-Go access even to those who couldn’t / wouldn’t get their satellite packages, and it’s upping the ante this year by bringing its slate of football games to the PlayStation 3. NFL Sunday Ticket To-Go is still a add-on that adds HD streaming access on PCs and mobile devices, however this year there’s also an app for the Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Android tablets. PS3 owners can get in on the action either by adding the To-Go option or paying a flat 9.95 without DirecTV service. Of course, it’s still interested in enticing people to switch to the dish by offering Sunday Ticket at no additional charge for new subscribers — just ask fairy Deion Sanders after the break. No word on any apps for Boxee, Roku and the rest, but other new additions for the 2011 season (now that the lockout is resolved and it’s actually happening) include a new four channel mix with larger cells for those late afternoon games, and integration with NFL.com Fantasy Football that lets viewers keep up with their scores and players right on the TV.

Not for sale: Every PlayStation 2 game ever made, sealed and in mint condition

Posted by on Thursday, 7 July, 2011
Did you buy Zone of the Enders just to get at the demo version of Metal Gear Solid 2. Did you summon half your street to join you in a game of TimeSplitters? Wouldn’t you have enjoyed your PlayStation 2 games much more if you’d just left them sealed on the shelf? That’s the eye-watering achievement collector Ahans76 has achieved, spending the last decade stuffing first edition (only with the Sony hologram attached) titles into a bookcase and steadfastly refusing to open them. In an interview with PlayStation Collecting (hit the source link below) he reveals much about the collection but doesn’t mention if he ever opened his PlayStation 3. That would certainly be one way of keeping your credit card secure.
