Unless you proposed from orbit, chances are your marriage request was not nearly as elaborate as Gary Hudston’s. And, perhaps outside of 2008′s homebrew Bejeweled proposal, no where near as geeky either. Hudston hired a skilled developer to create series of custom levels for Portal 2 that his potential betrothed would have to play through. When it heard about his apparently not so secret project, Valve even helped him secure Ellen McLain, the voice of GLaDOS, to record original audio. Sadly, unless you happen to be the future Mrs. Hudston, you’ll be no closer to marrying yourself off after solving its puzzles.

Good old Radio Shack just can’t seem to keep its hands on internal memos. A little over a week ago, we were treated to a pair of leaked documents, slating an August 7th rollout for the LG Thrill 4G, and now another official looking missive has surfaced, pushing the release date back to August 21st. As per the document, customers will still be able to reserve their own 3D-enabled handset with the purchase of a gift certificate before August 15th. Of course, we could still see this thrilling 4G phone pop up ahead of that date, perhaps from AT&T, but if you’ve already got a gift certificate in hand, it looks like it’s time for another round of the waiting game.

Wirelessly syncing a smartphone is hardly a new idea, but the developer of the Wi-Fi Sync app for iOS devices apparently thinks Apple’s similar new feature in iOS 5 — also called Wi-Fi Sync –is just a little too close to his for comfort. As you may recall, Greg Hughes submitted his “Wi-Fi Sync” app to Apple for App Store approval back in May of 2010 and was ultimately rejected, although not before he says he was told that Apple’s engineers were “impressed” by his effort — he then made the app available in the Cydia store, where it’s been downloaded more than 50,000 times at a pop. That was apparently working out just fine for him until this week, when he says he was “fairly shocked” to see Apple announce a Wi-Fi Sync feature of its own in iOS 5, complete with a familiar looking icon. Hughes went on to tell The Register that he was “surprised” by the similarities, but he hasn’t offered any indication that he plans to push the issue any further.

Test driving an app isn’t entirely unheard of — Apple introduced its lackluster “Try Before You Buy” system last summer and the Android Market’s got a 15-minute return policy. Now T-Mobile’s teamed up with mobile gaming outfit WildTangent to bring a novel approach to looking under the hood of gaming apps: rentals. The partnership promises to bring 25 cent game rentals to your phone or tablet (considering your a T-Mo faithful rocking an Android device), giving you the opportunity to see what a particular game is working with before you commit. The new service also lets users play games for free with advertisements, and applies the cost of rentals to future purchases — rent-to-own style. So it won’t bring the same juvenile thrills as the arcade, but it will let you get your game on at 25 cents a pop. No word yet on when the service will go into affect, so don’t go breaking that piggy bank quite yet.
