Cameron not as quick on Mumsnet as Brown – calls BBC ‘very overextended’

Posted by on Friday, 20 November, 2009

The latest political showdown on Mumsnet looks like delivering a points victory for Gordon Brown. Apparently David Cameron, who answered questions on a live web chat on the site today, was criticised by some posters as taking too long to answer. Brown apparently answered 30 questions in his hour on the site (could have been 31 if he’d taken the biscuit challenge) while the Tory leader managed just 16.

Bioshock 2 coming in a special edition

Posted by on Friday, 20 November, 2009

bioshock2seSo it’s official: there will be a Bioshock 2 special edition. With the upcoming release of Bioshock 2 there’s been much speculation and guesswork about if there would be a special edition, and more importantly, what would be in it. Well, the wait is over.

The official announcement came out today on The Cult of Rapture. The special edition will come in a 13×13″ premium package with special art on the slipcase and the cover of the box. Inside the box, you’ll find three posters featuring vintage ads from Rapture, a LP with the orchestral score from the original Bioshock, a CD with the Bioshock 2 score, an 164 page hardbound artbook, and the Bioshock 2 game.

The special edition will be released on February 9th, 2010 for $99.00 on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The PC version will be $89.00. All three versions will be limited to a single production run.

Unboxing the Windows 7 Launch Party kit

windows-7-launch-party-2

My Windows 7 Launch Party kit is finally here! As you may recall, I was selected to host one of these Windows 7 Launch Parties. I’m so lucky.

Oh, man, look at all this stuff. Streamers, balloons, party bags, playing cards, a puzzle, and a poster!!! Microsoft sure knows how to throw a party. Add some jello shots and a beer bong, and this party should be crazy. Oh, and the fact that I now have a full, legal copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 32- and 64-bit makes me smile too.

Now all I should probably do is watch those instructional videos again for some “helpful tips.” Then print off some low-res posters and fun quizes. Finally, I should probably find some friends that actually wanna party with Windows 7.

These packs have been shipping out to pre-selected hosts all week. Hosts should receive an email with the UPS tracking info before hand. According to a note on HouseParty.com – who is actually organizing all these shindigs – packages are still being shipped so don’t worry if you haven’t gotten yours yet. You should get it by the October 15th. Or you could always buy one on eBay.

Build Your Own Star Trek Phaser

star trek phaser

By Chris Scott Barr

The three posters hanging in my living room are evidence enough that I’m definitely a Star Wars fan. I can appreciate Star Trek, but I’m not exactly a huge fan. Knowing how much I would give for a perfect replica of a lightsaber, I’m sure that fans of the Trek might be interested in this spiffy Type-I Phaser Kit, which lets you build a prop worth of the original show.

It’s a little strange that this is only being offered in kit-form. I guess assembling your own phaser will give you a bit more geek cred at the next con. All you need is $200 and a a free afternoon to be the envy of all your geeky friends.
