Xbox 360 Slim to be announced at this year’s E3?

Posted by on Monday, 26 April, 2010

If a notorious game industry news source is believed, Microsoft is announcing a redesigned Xbox 360 this year at E3. The systems will be physically smaller hence the slim name, but also sport a new predominantly black color scheme. The thought is a while Project Natal wouldn’t look so hot in front of a black TV and so the console is getting revamped ahead of Natal’s launch.

Surfer Girl Strikes Back also mentions that MS will announce two 360 Natal bundles at this year’s show and she isn’t new to the rumor game. This inconspicuous source has randomly dropped solid rumors that seem to work out. E3 is coming up in the middle of June so we’ll find out soon enough if she –or he — is right about this one too. Someone, somewhere may have Project Natal in their hands *right now*

Looks like someone accidentally left Project Natal in a bar in Redwood City. An Italian site has what it claims to be photos of Microsoft’s motion-sensing controller thing “in the wild,” as these things go.

I don’t know what to make of it. It’s a bunch of photos of an instruction manual and the big sensor bar-thing.

But, if that excites you, so be it.

Crytek ‘working closely’ with Microsoft, Sony re: motion controls

Posted by on Friday, 16 April, 2010

Pretty sure Crytek, of Crysis fame, is usually associated with blazing fast graphics cards and extreme edition processors, so color me surprised to see it embracing Microsoft’s Project Natal and Sony’s Move. Surprised and disappointed, to be exact—I shan’t be participating in this motion control business, that’s for sure.

Right, so Cevat Yerli, the Crytek CEO, said that they’re “working very closely with Sony and Microsoft in regards to motion control on both the PS3 and Xbox 360.” Want more info? Sorry, for “that’s as much as NDA allows [Crytek] to say right now.”

All of this hubbub stems from the recent registration of a name and logo in the UK for something called “Self Defense.” Word on the street, and I have no idea where this street can be found, is that “Self Defense” has to do with motion control.

Mouse and keyboard till I die, etc.
