Cheap DSL Service Providers – Useful Info and Tips

Posted by on Saturday, 14 August, 2010

During this time, the people now always consider their monetary budget. With this, they would want to avail of good quality services and get savings out of those services at the same time. Thus, when deciding to get themselves connected with a DSL connection, they have to consider first the costs of the internet packages and which of those cheap DSL service providers give good service.

dsl internet providers
At the present time, cheap DSL service providers in the market have gained much competition on the package prices. They are making striking promotions just to get the client’s subscription of their service. One of their offers is giving increase on the internet speed of their equipment just to have an edge from the others. Bonus promos are also offered such as having the usual subscription charge of only $10 for a month. These additional offers are marketing strategies of a company to attract clients and get them to sign up for their services.

With a rise in number of cheap DSL service providers, they are giving online support systems that assist customers with the problems they meet along with their connection as well with their devices. This service is included in the package at the start of the client’s subscription until the end of the contract. Some cheap DSL service providers also have 24/7 online support or customer service over the phone which teaches the clients on how to troubleshoot the problem they are experiencing either on the slow internet connection or to simply having no connection at all.

Problems that are encountered depend on what parts of the system are involved. Sometimes, the problem arises with the modem provided by the internet provider. The device is what we call a DSL modem which is the most vital equipment that could carry the transmission in order to get connection to the internet. Without this device, it is not possible for a computer to detect internet connection. There is no use in accessing the internet if this device is lacking or not set up by the DSL provider. Regularly, cheap DSL service providers include this modem in their packages. These modems are only lend to the subscribers and will be surrendered back to the DSL company once the subscriber doesn’t extend the service contract.

In addition, the DSL modem is what essentially keeps the entire connection working coming from the cheap DSL service providers. It allows communication of the computer and the telephone wall jack as well as the line. It acts as a converter who sends digital signals from the computer to the DSLAM or the Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplier. The DSLAM then duplicates the function of a switchboard to aid the demand of information between the internet and the internet user. In this case, the nearer the user is to the DSLAM, the stronger the connection detected. That is one problem of the internet companies. They can’t provide internet connection to all locations except to places where the signals may be detected coming from the main source.

cheap dsl service providers are giving the maximum connection they have offered so that the subscriber would benefit from their service. They are giving their undivided support for their client because of continuous competition. But, their ultimate goal is to provide ease and console to the customers because the internet nowadays becomes the basis of everything. You can have dealings and other tasks you would like with the help of the internet.

Get a Free Laptop Through Facebook!

Posted by on Tuesday, 23 February, 2010

…or not. At least two Facebook contacts have invited me to sign up for promos like these:

Hi there! I work for an online company and my manager is having me advertise our website on Facebook, so I thought I could strike a deal with all Facebook users that join this group. We have tens of thousands of laptops that we ordered from Hewlett Packard that don’t fit our requirements for UDK development. The problem is that Hewlett Packard won’t let us return these laptops and by selling these laptops we will lose money. I then thought of something great to do with the laptops – give them away free if you have a legitimate reason for wanting a laptop. Please don’t submit “I need to play games” in the form because it probably won’t be approved. This way our website would be advertised and people across the globe that need laptops get what they need.

Sounds like a win-win right? All you need to do is follow a few steps—which includes pasting some javascript into your browser address bar and pressing Enter—and visit a particular site. But warning bells went off in my head; this offer sounded too good to be true, a classic something-for-supposedly-nothing scheme. A quick search online pointed me to this thread on Dell’s forums, which details exactly what this “promo” is all about:

100% hoax. The group asks users to enter a javascript code into their address bar which grabs every friend’s name and adds them to an invite for the group.

I guess we should all be lucky the JS isn’t more malicious. Because we all know how stupid people can be.

So watch out dear readers, and feel free to pass this on to whoever invites you to get a laptop for free, through Facebook. Hopefully the social networking website has plugged the vulnerability (the javascript on the address bar thing) that lets this sort of thing prosper.

Dell Home President’s Day Deals

Posted by on Monday, 15 February, 2010

Starting today until February 15, here are some discounts from an American retailer, in honor of a decidedly American holiday (at least in timing):

  • Inspiron 15 for only $399 after $274 off
  • Mini 10 Netbook for $249 after $104 off
  • Inspiron 13 at a special price of $399
  • Inspiron 580  with Ci3 and 19″ Monitor for $599 after $249 off
  • Studio XPS 8100 with Ci7 and 20″ Monitor for $999 after $469 off

You can access them through this link. What computer seems interesting for you, dear readers? Since I think I’m more productive in front of a desktop, I’d go for either the Inspiron 580 or the Studio XPS 8100 deal (if I was on the market for a new computer, of course). Both computers seem like good deals, thanks to the powerful Core i3 and i7 processors respectively, and the bundled monitors.
