Business intelligence software (BIS) has become somewhat of a buzzword across all industries over the past decade. Businesses become scared that their competitor may have an edge over them, so they make rash purchases without fully understanding what they are doing.

Trying to implement business intelligence software without fully understanding how to use it is a mistake made by the naive. It then just becomes an expensive commodity with no real value to your business.

The complexity of business intelligence software can make it look very appealing to someone with no real understanding of what they are doing. Unless you are an expert, it is hard to understand what software would be most suited to your organisation.

Imagine having a Porsche and only ever using it to drive to the corner-shop: this is the same as having top-of-the-range business intelligence software and not knowing how to use it. Its value becomes almost redundant. What we must now ask is how you can make sure you are maximising the potential of business intelligence software.

BIS: Getting It Right

The best way to get the most from business intelligence software is to use a consultancy specialising in its application.

A professional consultancy will take a rounded, holistic view to your business intelligence project. Usually their work will involve reviewing the existing set-up, reviewing data storage issues and implementing virtualization. Their experience will help deliver the most effective business intelligence strategy possible for your organisation.

Choose a consultancy firm with a proven track record if you want to ensure success. This way you will ensure that they have a highly skilled staff, who are committed to making business intelligence software work for your organisation.

Business intelligence has been one of the biggest initiatives undertaken across all businesses and industries. Neglecting business intelligence software may not be something you can afford to do.

Are you thinking of buying a new mobile device or something else from the tech gadgets category? Within the past few years we have seen an explosion in the market of handheld devices and new tech gadgets.

These cool new tech gadgets can do as much, if not more in some cases, than an old PC could. Like any device that runs programs they need an operating system to do so. There are a few of these operating systems to choose from; the one everyone is talking about now is the Android OS from Google.

What is Android?

This is an operating system or OS that runs mobile devices. This OS is based on a modified version of the Linux kernel. Google originally purchased the system from Android Inc and have continued to adapt and evolve it.

Other Mobile Operating Systems

The most commonly known operating systems to date have been Windows Mobile OS, Apple Mobile OS and Linux.

As time goes on we are seeing more operating systems being introduced which is forcing all the fore mentioned software providers to adapt and strive to be the best in the hi tech gadgets market.

So which tech gadgets use which operating systems and what are their advantages and disadvantages?

Windows Mobile OS/Windows CE

The Windows Mobile OS can be found on a wide range of phones from many different brands. So let’s look at its good points:

Reliable and stable
A wide range of programs are available
Touch navigation has been improved by new interface
Very good sync capability with Google Mobile and Exchange
Handsets available on networks

Now what are the bad points:

Old operating systems and is at time chunky and slow
Inconsistent interface
Browser is slower than others like Safari
Interface is not yet very user friendly

The reason for its success up until now has been the fact that Microsoft generally know what they are doing and come with a proven track record, especially on some of the more commonly used tech gadgets like cell phones, car DVD players and GPS navigators.

Apple

Apple commanded a huge share of the mobile device market with the introduction of the iPhone which has been named amongst the best tech gadgets by various writers and pundits.

The iPhone OS for now only runs comfortably on the iPhone itself, with the iPad and iTouch running a version of this.

What are the pros and cons of the iPhone OS?
What are the pros?

Very reliable
Lots of apps to choose from
The best touch navigation interface
Switch between apps seamlessly
Quick and slick What are the cons?
Apple devices can be expensive
Apps only available from Apple The Apple OS has been successful because it was the best when it was released and when Apple released its iPhone series it was new and designed for the masses. Linux Again with the Linux Mobile OS it is available on a number of hi tech gadgets, but what are the advantages and disadvantages? Advantages:
Many Linux apps are free
Open source means anyone can write programs for it
Lots of support available on the internet Disadvantages:
Still has some bugs
No official help line
Cannot run Microsoft apps Other operating systems that are widely used are the Symbian OS, the Palm OS and Blackberry. At the moment it seems that these operating systems are falling behind the ones mention previously in the article. It is new innovations and mass appeal that are the main reasons for this. So why has the Android operating system gain so much popularity? Well the main reason for this the fact that it’s Linux based. This means it has a lot more third party applications available for it. So what are the pros and cons? Pros:
As mentioned before it is open source
Easily hacked
Powerful
Constant updates provided
Lots of providers designing apps for it Cons:
Handsets limited
Power management issues
Interface not user friendly With the relative cheapness of Chinese OEM products we have seen the android being brought to more people quickly. After reading this article you should have a better idea of what mobile OS suits you. Get the best Android tech gadgets online today.

Does card counting work? Yes. In the 9 years that I worked as a blackjack dealer, I saw a lot of hopeful schemes and ideas, and while many failed, some of them really did work. Card counting, while uncommon, has a proven track-record of making money for those who are willing to do it right.

Card counting is a little too involved to teach in a short article, but that’s not what this article is about. Before you learn the specific skills, you need to know what it will involve to really do it right, before you decide if it is worth the venture. That is what this article is about.

Card Counting 101. In the game of blackjack, card counting is a technique for ″beating the house.″ Using this technique you make more money than you lose in the long run, but not necessarily on any given day. You beat the house by playing in such a way that the odds are in your favor. How do you determine when the odds in your favor? You watch and track the deck. When the deck is has a high number ″rich″ of high-value cards (10,J,Q,K,A), the odds are slightly in favor of the player. while statistically true, how much in favor of the players the odds shift is dependant on the “house rules” (number of decks, shuffle position to name just a few) of that particular online casino.

The basic idea is to monitor the cards as they come out, and when the deck has more high-value cards than low-value cards in it, you would bet more. When he deck contains more Low-Value cards than High value cards you would wager less. In other words, you should make money in the long run. The above is a simple explanation, and you will need to study a good counting book to make this work. First you need to know ″basic strategy,″ meaning you need to know when to take a ″hit″ and when to stand. Your play has to be precise to really have the edge. You also need to practice at home for hours.

It can be tough at first to track of all those cards flying out of that shoe, while the other players talk and waitresses interrupt you. The ″counting″ is essentially assigning a value to the cards and tracking that value. This is done most easily at tables where the cards are dealt face up (except the dealer’s ″hole card″). Aces and face cards are assigned a value of -1, two through six are valued at +1, and seven, eight and nine are considered neutral. Watching the cards, you add and subtract their values, wagering the table minimum all the while. When you arrive at a predetermined value, let’s say +7, you increase your wager. The higher count means that there is a higher percentage of high-value cards in the deck than normal. Which means that the odds are in your favor.

One counter used to sit and wager the table minimum and count by shifting chips between two stacks. When the stacks indicated that the count was in his favor he would place a large wager. Now this isn’t recommended as you are clearly indicating to the security personnel, who are always watching for card counters, that you are counting. Not only are you are even telling them, but you are letting them know what the count is. Even when you count well you are only getting a 1.5% edge over the house. Card counting is not a get rich scheme, you can expect to make about $9 an hour if your hands average $8. Certainly not enough to pay for your trip but knowing you beat the casino is, well like that commercial says… priceless. Find out more at 21 card game, 44 Bar or All Stars Strip Poker.

It’s the rumor that refuses to go away: the next Sony PSP. Well, E3 is next week, thank God, and you should absolutely expect to see it, henceforth referred to as the PSP Go!, debut at Sony’s press conference. It will be UMD-less (you can hear developers cheering), and possibly cheaper. That, and the slimmed down PS3 is real, too.

How do we know this? The same source that tipped off World Famous Ars Technica about the existence of a Resident Evil 5 Xbox 360 bundle and the Fable II +Halo 3 bundle—the source has a proven track record. Plus, it corroborates what Dave Perry, of Earthworm Jim fame, said earlier this year.

And I sincerely hope that, at launch, PSP Go! is cheaper than the current PSP. My guess is that getting rid of the UMD drive will contribute quite a bit to a lower production cost.

As for the slimmer PS3, this same source says, yes, it’s real, and it’s only a matter of time. Apparently Sony wants to spend the summer months clearing store shelves of PS3s, and, once August or September comes around, will release the slimmer one then. This slim PS3 won’t be announced at E3: who would buy a PS3 in June when they know, for sure, that a newer one will be released two months later?
