Posted by on Saturday, 29 May, 2010

Choosing the best printer for a small business, such as the HP LaserJet 5si printer using HP LaserJet 5si Printer Toner Cartridges, can be tricky. An individual will need to evaluate their needs before they start their business. This can be a challenge, especially when one is not sure of the rate of growth they will experience when they are established. The printer you select for your business will probably be used for a minimum of 18 to 24 months. Therefore, it will be important you select a printer that can grow with your company, be flexible, and provide the versatility that is required for a growing business.

When using a printer for a business, it is important the system that is chosen is one that is primarily designated for the sole purpose of printing. Many people make the mistake of utilizing a small home multi-function printer when they are starting their business. The cost of toner for these printers can make this very expensive. In addition, your business printer must have features such as expandable memory, networking capability, and an Ethernet port to meet the needs of a growing business.

Evaluating your specific needs will be very helpful when you are looking for a printer. An individual who will be printing documents, contracts, and other 8.5 x 11″ paper products, will need a heavy duty printer. A person who will be printing cards, brochures, and banners will need a printer that has more versatility in working with the weight of paper.

In many cases, a start-up business will begin in a small room with one or two people. An individual will select a small multi-function home printer as a cost-savings measure. However, if the business is going to grow, employ more people, or expand marketing strategies, it will be more cost effective to invest in a printer that can meet more demands easily.

The weight and density of paper changes. If your business is going to be using recycled paper, it will be important that your printer be able to accommodate this type of paper. Recycled paper has a different texture and density that makes it jam very easily in some types of printers. Talking to the representative for printers will help you to find those printers that are most compatible with different weights and densities of paper. Recycled paper also gives off a fine dust that can cause the parts in a printer to malfunction. Therefore, getting a printer that has been specifically designed for use with recycled paper is often a cost effective strategy.

Another advantage of the larger printers is a front load tray. The front load tray is designed for heavier weight paper and feeds directly into the drum. This reduces wear on the feed wheels of the printer and makes the processing of running the paper much easier. An individual will find they are able to print business cards, postcards, and banners very easily using the front load tray.

An individual who will be printing much of their own marketing materials, including business cards, will find they are able to print up to 1,000 business cards using the run paper loader. It is important that prior to committing to the purchase of a printer an individual calculate the costs of maintenance, repair, and replacement cartridges for the printer. In a few cases, the dealer will include several HP LaserJet Replacement Toners as part of their service agreement. Other times, they will provide you with a significant discount on cartridges as an incentive to purchase the printer.

Talking to a professional about the effectiveness of the HP LaserJet 5si printer will help you to make a decision about which type of printer will be best to meet your needs. When selecting the printer, discussing your specific requirements, the amount of printing that you will be doing, and what type of wear the printer will need to endure, will be a great advantage.

Once chosen, you will find the HP LaserJet 5si Printer Toner used by this device provides its own advantage.  Clear, crisp, sharp text and graphics are a welcome sight when using HP Laser Toner.  Online Printer Toner Cartridges offers additional savings for your business.

Warner Bros. Sued for Pirating Anti-Piracy Tech

Posted by on Tuesday, 25 May, 2010
Irony: See Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. is notorious for its attempts to squash piracy, which have included suing popular music search sites and hiring interns whose sole purpose is to find pirated content and issue takedown notices. The company also began embedding each film distributed to theaters and critics with a unique identifier, so that Warner could trace leaked and pirated movies back to their source. But, in a piece of delicious irony, it seems that Warner Bros. may have actually stolen this technology from a German company called Medien Patent Verwaltung (MPV).

According to a complaint filed by MPV, the company demoed its anti-piracy tech for the film distributor at Warner Bros.’ invitation in 2003. MPV claims that Warner then began using its technology in 2004 without its permission. A suit has now been filed in New York that seeks to prevent Warner Bros. from using the anti-piracy coding on future film prints, and attempts to collect financial damages incurred from the patent violation. If it turns out that Warner did steal its anti-piracy technology, you can bet it will be one of the biggest stories of the year. After all, pirating anti-piracy tech makes for a great headline. The red TomTom EASE is probably meant to be a Valentine’s Day gift because it’s red

Posted by on Monday, 8 February, 2010

It’s probably a safe bet that nearly every retailer and consumer electronic manufacturer forms a committee with the sole purpose of exploiting Valentine’s Day. We’ve  already seen the Nook Valentine’s Day edition today and now it’s TomTom’s turn with the red EASE GPS unit. Because nothing says love like a cheap personal navigator. I kid, I kid.

Really the only difference between this special edition EASE and the standard model is the colored bezel. That’s it. It’s still a very basic, but still functional, GPS until with a MSRP or $149 but available online exclusively at Amazon for $119.
