LG’s triple SIM A290: the phone every Russian Casanova needs

Posted by on Tuesday, 31 January, 2012
Dual-SIM phones are perfect for when the carriers are desperate for your business, keeping your work life separate, or to mask your philandering — but what if two isn’t enough? LG (stands for Lucky Goldstar, now you know) is producing a phone with a third SIM slot, only one less than the ridiculously equipped OTECH F1. The A290 candy-bar throwback sports a 176 x 220, 2.2-inch display, 1.3 megapixel camera, LED flashlight and a 1500 mAh battery. Russians (for it’s exclusive to the nation) looking to swell their SIM collection can do so from next month at the cost of €75 (0).

Sports Fans Coalition intends to lobby against NFL blackouts

Posted by on Thursday, 17 November, 2011

We know how it is, you have a big HDTV and inexpensive adult beverages at home and you just don’t feel compelled to spend the bucks to go to the game in these tough economic times. We feel for you, but the NFL does not as your situation doesn’t exactly pay all those player’s salaries. Well, starting this Friday the Sports Fans Coalition, along with other organizations, plans to petition the FCC for change to the current blackout rule. The groups argue that since many of the stadiums are built with public funds, Joe Consumer has the right to watch those games at home. As is, we’re mostly just glad the old NFL blackout policy, prior to 1973 that made all home games unavailable to the home market, isn’t still in effect. Of course that doesn’t mean that we believe the current blackout policy actually helps sell those 0+ tickets and believe the NFL might realize more profits if it sought out more modern supplemental revenue strategies.

Honda’s Small Sports EV concept proves electric can be svelte, comes to Tokyo Motor Show next month

Posted by on Thursday, 10 November, 2011

Honda fans, hope you’re down for some last-minute tickets to Japan, as the automaker plans to release not one, but seven (!) stunning concepts at the upcoming Tokyo Motor show. Ranging from plug-in hybrids to electric motorcycles, we’re most stoked about the Small Sports EV — a dashing two-seat roadster that reminds us stylistically of BMW’s i8. Details are light, but Honda promises that it’ll be fun to drive, yet also achieve “excellent environmental performance.” Alongside it is the plug-in hybrid AC-X, which looks like an LED-ridden redux of the lease-only FCX. And finally, there’s the Micro Commuter concept, which despite looking the least production-ready of the three, gets kudos for having a dedicated spot to load the accompanying Motor Compo EV motorcycle. Not much else to report on all seven this far out, but that doesn’t mean you can’t ogle at photos of these three and their motorcycle brethren at the links below.
