For whatever reason, BenQ’s new line up includes the 18.5-inch GL9320, the 19-inch GL931, the 21.5-inch GL2230, and the 22-inch GL2231. BenQ claims to have the highest contrast ratio in the industry, but I suspect they might have forgot about LG. Or maybe they are calculating hte contrast using a different method. No pricing as of yet, but expect to see the latest from BenQ at your local retailer sometime in July.

It’s Stussy’s 30th birthday next year, and for some strange reason the fashion company collaborated with Japanese electronics maker Ricoh to celebrate the occasion in the form of a Stussy-branded digital camera [JP]. Technically, Ricoh didn’t change anything in the GR DIGITAL III the Stussy camera is based on (and which was released in August this year), meaning the new exterior design will most likely attract hardcore Stussy fans or camera collectors only.

Spec-wise you still have a 10MP 1/1.7-inch CCD sensor, a 28 mm/F1.9 “GR” lens, 4x digital zoom, ISO sensitivity between 64 and 1,600, a 3-inch LCD display and SD/SDHC/ USB ports. Ricoh replaced the original fonts on the camera with Stussy style fonts and added royal blue as a new color on several buttons and the cap. You can see the camera in its original form below.

The Stussy camera will go on sale in Japan in February 2010 (when the fashion brand becomes 30 years old) and will cost $1,100. It’s limited to 500 units only. If you’re interested in getting one, i’d suggest you contact import/export specialists Japan Trend Shop, Geek Stuff 4 U or Rinkya.

Does anybody remember the DVD I blogged that was supposed to cure shyness in geeks by letting them look at 50 different girls over a time span of 96 minutes? The girls would just sit there, not saying or doing anything. The idea was to make you get used to looking at pretty girls on the TV to overcome your shyness in real life.

That was last year. And now we have the Hougen CD [JP], which is more or less trying to do the same thing – but this time not with video but audio. In my view this CD, a real product you can buy, is even dumber than aforementioned DVD: What you get is a CD on which 600 different Japanese girls say “Daisuki!” or “Meccha Daisukiyanen!”, which means “I love you!” in Japanese.

As a bonus, the girls talk in their home dialects (”Hougen” means dialect in Japanese) in order to satisfy geeks all over Nippon. Record company NR Pro also throws in a second CD on which, for some strange reason, the girls will yell at you (”I hate you” etc.).

The Hougen CD goes on sale just in time for Christmas, on December 23 (price: $25).

And as if NR Pro wanted to prove everything is possible in Japan, they’re also offering the Chuu CD [JP] (”Chuu” means kiss in Japanese). 12 different girls are making 100 kiss noises each on it. And those 1,200 kisses will set you back exactly 1,200 Yen ($15). You get one kiss for one yen and there are no language barriers.

Panasonic Japan today announced the KX-VC500 [JP], a new video-conferencing system that makes it possible to communicate using full HD screens. The system mainly consists of a device Panasonic calls HD communication unit and a remote control, connecting users via the web.

For some strange reason, Panasonic intends to sell the corresponding microphone separately (for a yet to be determined price). Not only that, the KX-VC500 doesn’t come with a camera either. Instead, buyers are supposed to use their HD cameras they already have at home or in the office, obviously. Panasonic promises superior sound quality (MPEG-4 AAC LD, 20kHz).

The main unit can be plugged into any screen capable of displaying HD images. It features two HDMI ports and an RGB interface.

The system will hit Japanese stores October 1 with an open price model. Panasonic hasn’t said yet whether it will be available outside Japan as well, but plans to produce 300 units monthly.

For some strange reason, USB seems to stimulate the imagination of crap gadget makers. This is especially true for Japanese companies, i.e Thanko, or (in this case) Solid Alliance. The Tokyo-based company, which just last week brought us the USB Ninja Star, now sells two weird USB sticks [JP] doubling as bookmarks (for real books).

Next to a USB feather, you can also get a USB stick/bookmark that’s shaped like a pair of glasses. Both sticks have 2GB of memory.

You can get these gadgets here for $42.64 each (plus shipping) if you live outside Japan. But why should anyone want this?
