Hitachi glasses-free 3D technology lets you view weird chicken things from multiple angles

Posted by on Friday, 30 September, 2011

We might not have chosen the above weird baby chick to pitch our autostereoscopic technology to the world, but at least it makes for some memorable imagery. The hatchling is a 3D image generated by projectors, overlayed on top of a real world object, which can be viewed by multiple people at multiple angles without the need for 3D glasses. Built-in sensors detect the viewer’s positions and adjust the viewing angle accordingly. Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this sort of technology — heck, this isn’t even the first time we’ve seen this sort of thing from Hitachi, but the company says it’s continually getting better, with a marked depth resolution improvement over a technology shown off this time last year at CEATEC. The company is looking to implement the technology for both digital signage and entertainment purposes, eventually revolutionizing the way the world looks at 3D baby chickens.

Zynga’s Pioneer Trail is like The Oregon Trail without the typhoid

Posted by on Sunday, 14 August, 2011
Zynga has finally released The Pioneer Trail, the long promised sequel to FrontierVille on Facebook. Those familiar with The Oregon Trail will be right at home here but there’s no indication as yet that you can die of dysentery. The game abandons many of Zynga’s social gaming trademarks; rather than doing anything related to farming, players must instead journey across one of three maps. The creators claim that each one of these maps is five times larger than any of the outfit’s previous games. Significantly, you can only play the game with three friends, as each player is awarded specific skills necessary to reach “Fort Courage” at the finish. The company hopes that by forcing four players together it will create “intimate gaming” experiences (translation: you can’t give up if you get bored, friends are relying on you). Each map is said to take three weeks of hard pioneerin’ to complete and if that still leaves you cold, remember: there’s always that history textbook waiting in your app queue.

Question by Anonymous: I need a translation gadget for my site?
I’ve tried Google Translate, but it’s pretty clear that it’s a very bad translation gadget.I put it on my site so that visitors could translate it,I tested it and translated the web page from English to Arabic, and I still saw English lettering. Are there any other free translation gadgets that are a better alternative that I could embed onto my site?
