It may not be the first go-round for the Karmetik Machine Orchestra, but the automated musicians, fashioned by a group of students at the California Institute of the Arts, took the stage last night to prove that robots can rock. Among the mechanized musicians scheduled to perform at the Walt Disney Modular Theater were MahaDevibot, Glockenbot, BreakBot, and NotomotoN, described as a “duel-head drum with twelve beaters and a mallet orchestra.” Each of the robots was built from salvaged parts and programmed by CalArts students, who control the machines from laptops during performances. A description of the show posted to the CalArts website touts music-producing robots suspended from the ceiling that trigger sound activated light shows and animation — now that sounds like a way to spend a Thursday night. Check out a video of the players and their masters after the break.

Through historical past there have been some amazing persons whose words continue to be as remarkable nowadays, as they were in the past; interestingly a number of Disney quotes are known to be amongst all of the wisdom.

Off the top of your head you may be able to quote a number of Disney films, and for many of them you would even be able to quotes lines from different characters. Would is be unexpected to you to consider that lots of those Disney quotes are as applicable today, as they were when they were spoken?

Think about the Walt Disney quotes like; “How could I be so stupid?” This could easily ruin the business!” taken from Monsters Corporation. aren’t an excellent illustration of Disney quotes we ought to consider, being the state of the economy throughout the first part of the twenty-first century. However “Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming” might be more appropriate. What do we still do? We swim, and swim, and swim, are you my conscience?” from Finding Nemo, seems to match perfectly with the times.

Walt Disney was a man way ahead of most contemporaries, with his futuristic ideas, and his clear understanding of people, evident in the theme parks he made. A great number of Walt Disney quotes highlight the insight of the man.
Although he is not responsible for writing the great classics that come out of the Disney studios, anyone that has had the time to read various original versions, will agree that they have all been altered substantially. A lot of the classic lines not present in the original stories. It is very clear that a lot of the great Disney quotes would never have been there if he had not approved of what they stood for.

If you are lucky enough to be old enough to remember when Walt Disney would present the stories of his weekly shows, and then talk at the end of the show as well, you will also know that there have been numerous Disney quotes which are less known, and seem to have been buried in time. Just because these less memorable Disney quotes are not in the pictures, they have just as much importance.

In the future then, whenever you find yourself in hysterics watching Donald Duck’s latest slip ups, or you are listening intently to the words Merlin spoke in “The Sword and The Stone”, have a closer listen to the great Disney quotes and see how closely they may apply to your own life.

So, if I may quote a wise man by stating “When you go after honey with a balloon, a great thing is not to let the bees know you are coming.”

If you have noticed that the world doesn’t owe you a living, and want one of these brilliant Disney quotes that will serve you well in the foreseeable future, then look no further than ‘First rule of leadership: everything is your fault.’ A lot of firms in the 2000′s seemed to ignore that certain; it might be nice to think that Walt Disney understood what was going to be coming, and that somehow filtered down through the ages to the writers of ‘Finding Nemo’.
Oh, why the Winnie the Pooh quote? Because too often in our life, we let the bees know we’re coming.

The movie rental fees range from $2.99 for “classic” or old films to $3.99 for new releases. The library will be expanded over the coming weeks to include more content.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for digital delivery. It’s the future, but Netflix and Amazon already seem to have a wide selection of content with some available in HD. I doubt Blockbuster will be able to provide a better experience than those two and there isn’t even any mention of HD content in the press release, which kills any appeal at all to me. If it’s not HD, I’m not going to spend money on it.

Check back later for a hands-on with the new service. Hopefully that will be sometime today.

3D animations

Do you remember the early years of personal computers? How about the graphics and animations, or lack thereof? Ask anyone who has any interest in this type of technology and they will likely be able to relate step by step the evolution of computer animation and graphics. Yet there will always be some new problem to overcome or some detail that can be improved upon in the world of computer animations.

Animation actually refers to any kind of animated graphic, not just the 3D animations. Animation has historically been produced in two ways. The first is by artists creating a succession of cartoon animations frames, which are then combined into a film. A second method is using physical models, such as in King Kong. The model is positioned, the image is recorded, then the model is moved, the next image is recorded, and the process continues. At times a simple rendering machine is used to produce successive frames to create animations, where the image is slightly changed in each one. It is hard to believe that it all started as basic cartoon figures in a book and flipping the pages over.

The major part of computer animation, or actually of all types of animation, is motion control. Early systems did not have the type of computational power it takes for animation preview and interactive control to create animations. Also, many of the early animators were computer scientists rather than artists, thus scripting systems were developed, meaning the animator wrote a script, or program to control the animation.

In the early days of animations cartoons, expert animators such as Walt Disney, would design (choreograph) an animation by drawing certain intermediate frames called keyframes. Then the other, less experienced animators would draw the in-between frames. The sequence of steps to produce a full design computer animation would include developing a story (or script), and laying it out on what is known as a storyboard. This is a sequence of drawings showing the form, structure and story of the animation. Once a detailed layout of the action scenes is produced, it is correlated with a soundtrack. They would then transfer the frames to sheets of acetate film, called “cels”. The cels were then assembled into a sequence and filmed.

Many people assume that when you refer to computer animation you are talking about 3D animations. However, if you use applications such as PowerPoint, you are normally creating a project using 2D animations. Using a computer to create 2D animations is a faster method of creating the type of animations that would have normally been hand-painted on cels. 3D animation, however, is an area where the computer shows clear superiority over hand-drawn animation. Not to mention the fact that it is impossible to produce by hand all of the tens of thousands of drawings needed for an animated film.

A sequel for cult movie Tron was rumored to be in preparation for years now, and today Walt Disney Pictures has finally revealed a few tidbits of information about the reboot of the "virtual reality film". It will simply be called Tron (and not Tron 2, Tron 2.0 or "Tr2n") and we'll be able to see some footage very soon.

Disney said they will show a 3D clip from the movie during the Comic-Con in San Diego on July 23. The poster is from the first movie, which was made back in 1982 (and has aged pretty well).

This is the official synopsis for the Tron reboot:

“TRON is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.”

Have you ever looked at a web site and really admired the way it looked and how it stood out from the rest? Most often that is due to the ability of the designer to create animation files and graphics that will catch a visitor’s eye. So much more is available on the internet today and that creates a great amount of competition between sellers to get and keep a customer.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y530

Sometimes, no matter how much traffic is driven to a website, the overall design of the site fails to catch or keep the viewer’s attention. Most owners feel that a snazzy/catchy site will hold the potential customers attention long enough to generate some sales. This is one reason why designers will continue to create animation and graphics on a regular basis.

Early animations started appearing around 1910 and were normally drawings that were photographed one at a time. It was a very intensive and long process, as there were literally hundreds of drawings for each minute of film. Of course, improvements were constantly being made with Walt Disney leading the pack. He was the first to add sound to his cartoon animations and produced the first, full-length movie animations film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Then, with the introduction of computers, animation began to take on a whole new meaning.

If you plan to use a computer to create animation or any other type of graphic work, then the faster your processor is the better off you will be. Computer animations can be 2D or 3D animations, and a good animator will make them look as close to real life as possible. Since you will likely be generating quite a few files when you create animations, it is also a good idea to upgrade your hard drive to something larger.

Of course, if you plan to work on a computer it is also advantageous to learn about photography, lighting and movement. You will need to visualize how the pictures animations, 2D animations or 3D animations will look and then have the know-how to make that inanimate object move. There are many different software programs that offer both tutorials and downloadable programs. The tutorials are very important, yet each software program will likely have a different interface, different menus, palettes and toolbars etc.

Depending on the type of animation desired, some can be wholly computer generated, while others, such as many of the 2D animations cartoons, still need to be penciled by hand before scanning to a computer. Using a computer to create animation often eliminates the need for many of the extra tools that are normally needed for the more traditional animation process. Basically, the tools needed in order to produce graphics computer animation is a computer with enough system requirements to run one of the 2D or 3D animations software programs, as well as the ability to use the software you choose.

To run 2D or 3D animations software programs you will need a computer that has sufficient system requirements, such as memory, to run them, which will eliminate the need for any paper and pencils. However, some of the graphics, such as 2D animations cartoons still require penciling by hand before scanning to the computer. The basic tools needed to create animation by computer are a system that will be able to run the software programs you will need, and of course the ability to use the programs.
